So the flick piqued my interest in hearing more Dylan. I'd only given purposeful listens Blonde on Blonde (love it) and Blood on the Tracks (hate it). I got Highway 61 and Freewheelin', and now I'm becoming a fan.

I've been researching some stuff this year I missed for my radio show. This week my show is gonna be a senior menu, with a buncha artists 55+ who put out good stuff this year. Totally blown away by this Mavis Staples album that came out. If Bartender still comes around these parts, I'd recommend it to him, on account of his liking the latter-day Solomon Burke releases.

Also, I got the Mary Weiss album that came out a while ago. She was one of the singers in the Shangri-Las. She's backed up by a garage rock band on this one. "Don't Come Back" is bad *** power pop/garage rock. Worth checking out if you like Blondie.

Anus Invader 12-09-2007 05:02 PM

listening to Conference of the Birds now

i like this a lot, don't see how it's doom metal

this reminds me a lot of A Saucerful of Secrets by Pink Floyd

A Dead Modernist 12-09-2007 05:03 PM

Gilberto Gil is good stuff man.

Robert Crumb 12-09-2007 05:09 PM

He's the best artist with three self-titled albums (fuck Peter Gabriel).

You should play the new Shonen Knife album if you can get your hands on it. They aren't 55+, but they are up there.

Anus Invader 12-09-2007 05:13 PM

But they have songs about sushi.

Robert Crumb 12-09-2007 05:24 PM

Oh shi

The weirdest thing I found looking for stuff was this:

I dunno how I missed it earlier.

Anus Invader 12-09-2007 05:37 PM

now im listening to Pilgrimage. i still dig this, i loved a minute through the second track where it all boomed in at twice the volume, distortion kicking in. but it sounds like the bassist just sorta dicks around in all their songs. its rare for him to move into a riff, which is interesting i suppose but sometimes he'll just be moving up and down the scales with different patterns and stuff

At the concerts, the repeated riffs really cause you to zone out. I saw a guy fall over because he was so out of it haha

Anus Invader 12-09-2007 05:45 PM

hahahaha wow. he was probably pretty high too, just as a guess

Anxious 12-09-2007 05:46 PM

I'm definitley going to blaze before I see them.

ATM 12-09-2007 05:46 PM
