something like purple haze, i feel free, good times bad times, same in the end, immigrant song, wrong way

what instrument do you play and what kind of genre does your band,or you(i dunno) want to play?
I Feel Free would be insanely cool at a school talent show but some kids might cry. If you want classic rock then go for the Kinks, You Really Got Me or All Day And All Of The Night.

Against Miik! 05-12-2005 01:32 PM

Yeah any CCR song would be cool. Everybody knows them, they are short, and really catchy.

Broken Arrow 05-12-2005 02:06 PM

I was just looking at at all the songs I have on my computer and there are a lot of good songs under 3 min, actually there are so tons.

Play Brainwashed by the Kinks.(Its what I'm listening to right now and its my favourite Kinks song at the moment.

Walrus Gumboot 05-12-2005 02:15 PM

You could always just shorten one a bit, omit a verse or something like that

lunch998 05-12-2005 03:16 PM
My school talent show only lets you have 3 minutes. I'm thinking communication breakdown or something quick like that :/. Maybe a Beatles song.
Mountain Jam!
I was just looking at at all the songs I have on my computer and there are a lot of good songs under 3 min, actually there are so tons.
Basically the entire Zombies box set are songs under three minutes.
Mountain Jam!
I think it might be a little over the time limit.

Same with the first five or so Beatles albums

JonG 05-12-2005 04:22 PM

Eww 3 minutes. I wouldn't care how long it was, just so it's good. I listen to songs from 2 minutes to 25 minutes, doesn't bother me none.

Those guys will be at a music festival while I am at prom, then gettin some. I win ;)

Illmatic 05-12-2005 04:33 PM

How about "Knockin' on Heaven's Door"?

There are lots of Bob Dylan songs that are around three minutes ("Knockin'", "Blowin' in the Wind", "The Times They Are A-Changin'", "Subterranean Homesick Blues", "Love Minus Zero/No Limit", "All Along The Watchtower", "Lay Lady Lay", "You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go", "One Too Many Mornings", etc.)

You really think you'll get some?

magicbus 05-12-2005 04:39 PM
You really think you'll get some?
I just threw that in there so prom wouldn't get ripped on for people like us who are going. I could care less if I got some, I'll be having fun at the afterparty either way.

You have a knack for killing this thread. :-/

jk.

But Seriously

robo2448 05-12-2005 06:38 PM

I'd put Elvis in a special 50's rock catagory along with Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Big Bopper...

However, he did help lay the foundations for bands like The Beatles, so I guess he can be considered a father of classic rock.

Broken Arrow 05-12-2005 06:38 PM

I like the bassline on You Ain't Nothing but a Hound Dog or whateevr that song is called.

Distant Echoes 05-12-2005 06:44 PM

Who isnt going to see the Allmans this year?

D-Noon12 05-12-2005 07:14 PM
ok ok, i admit it, i'm a classic rock nut. i love led zeppelin, the beatles, the who, eric clapton, the doors, and so on. most of the bands i listen to broke up years before i was born. at 17, nearly every song on my playlist is older than me. but is it just my imagination, or is classic rock experiencing sort of a revival. i am running into an increasing number of classic rock fans my age. at my school (an all boys high school), the school newspaper took a poll of everyone's favorite genre and band. led zeppeling got 5th and the beatles got 6th, behind that rap crap. classic rock made up a large percent of ppls favorite genre. is this just by me, or are other ppl noticing this too?

This is the thread for general classic rock discussion.
Yeah, I'm also a huge fan of classic rock, and like you, most of the bands broke up before I took an intrest in them, such as Led Zeppelin or The Beatles. Another thing is that most of the bands I love now have had losses, such as John Bonham from Zeppelin and John and George from The Beatles. However, that has no affect on my love of the greatest music of all time, and it has led to some of my other favorite bands, such as Iron Maiden, who has inspired other bands such as Iced Earth. :)

robo2448 05-12-2005 07:15 PM

xsao works much better for me right now.

But a week ago, it didn't work and i used cdzinc

doesn't make sense, but I don't care as long as one of them's working.

Broken Arrow 05-12-2005 07:15 PM
Why not the "site"?
Because he asked for the one called album directory.
