Seeing thrice and possibly mewithoutYou tonight, sweet!
|
That's me on Tuesday.
Lemme know how it is. |
Yo sorry Sglove, I don't remember how the set list at all for thrice but they were all stuff you wanted to hear. They played like two or three songs from Illusion of Safety.
Off the new cd, Firebreather The Messenger Burn the Fleet Digital Sea Lost Continent Oh an played Don't Tell and We Won't Ask which was the first time I've ever seen them play it in their set list. |
ever been so high that you wake up in the morning still high...?
pretty awesome ps. is the keyboard solo on the last gospel song on the lp the greatest thing ever or what? |
So I essentially paid 50 bucks to see a band I didn't want to see.
That being said, Brand New was pretty awesome live and almost made up for missing both bands I wanted to see. |
Wtf how did you get that late.
|

I don't know what was new and what wasn't because I don't listen to them but they had a couple really awesome like epic jam songs, particularly their encore. The first half of their set was like the Jesse Lacey show, he would start off with just him on acoustic and then the band would come in. Oh yeah, did they get a third guitarist? All I know is at some points there was like 8 people on stage, they had two drummers and then like random guitarists, percussionists, keyboardists running around at points. Anyway, the other songs I recognized were Sic Transit, Sowing Season, Tommy Gun, Degausser, Limousine, Play Crack The Sky, You Won't Know.
Wtf how did you get that late.
Dumbass driving me, who I paid 20 bucks to take me, ****ing drove like an idiot. |
Nah same thing during Thrice. They had three drummers playing for the end of Don't Tell and We Won't Ask. That was pretty sweet. And Brand New just had that many guitars on record so they brought out those guys to play along I guess. Though the sound at the venue I saw them sucked *** so it sounded like ****.
|
I've heard that their sound has been sucking live which gets me.
Thrice has always had a killer tone live an I'm hoping they aren't part of the **** show. Don't get me wrong, I like the new Thrice CD, but I hope they do include more old stuff. Like That Hideous. lol. |
Apparently they played Flags Of Dawn at some show which is incredible.
|
Oh **** they actually did play Flags of Dawn.
They played some of their usual hits like Artisit in the Ambulance and Deadbolt. But they played stuff I never seen them play and they absolutely ruled. Flags of Dawn was dope as **** live. But Thrice had a great sound. I don't know why Brand new didn't. |
Their was so much reverb on Brand New's vocals, it sounded good at some points, but most of the time it just sounded pretty lame.
|
Well, I'm jealous. Who else?
ps. is the keyboard solo on the last gospel song on the lp the greatest thing ever or what?
You're either right, and you might be right. I think you're right, though. |
Chris, even though you didn't get to see the whole show, how long do you think it lasted?
|
Brand New set was around the hour mark.
Thrice was around 40-50 mewithoutYou very short. |
That would be my preference too, enjoy that band immensely. Listened to Saturday night wrist earlier.
|
SGlove: I swear Brand New played for 1:30-1:45
|
Wtf I heard they played for over an hour as well but I couldn't stand the sound any longer.
|
Yeah, I wish Thrice had headlined instead, they're the ones with a new album. ****ing bs
|
yeah exactly
|
Flags of Dawn ruled. I just finished this really hard thing at school so I've randomly decided to go on a Deftones bender. Deftones > RATM > Tool.
No. RATM > any other 'alternative' or whatever band. |
No.
RATM > any other 'alternative' or whatever band.
I really like their guitarist. Its cool how all of his guitar solos are ****. |
Tom Morello is overrated but RATM rule.
|
I don't think so, he's never been about shredding. He's extremely good at writing riffs that have a nice groove to them and he's a master at making his guitar sound awesome. Plus, he can shred anyway, like the solo to "Settle For Nothing."
|
But too often people fellate him for the wrong reasons and try to compare him to like, tech metal guitarists, even though its a completely different sound hes going for.
I need to d/l some RATM, I dont think I have any on my computer. |
He makes his guitar sound like a turntable on Mic Check, that part is so sick
