Isn't it Josh Freese. Or was that just one song?
heh...possibly.... what a waste of talent. :)
Ofcourse he could use a double bass pedal. They're probably studio musicians dress as sk8er bois.
nice avatar  |
*Sigh* Gocaps, please answer my question.
Edit: I also wanna know how to find Kirk's sound, or tone, with my amp, I dunno brands or anything so could you just say like mid 4, bass 4, gain 4 etc. or whatever... I have no idea what I'm asking tbh |

Kirk and James both do this:gain, bass, and treble all go up to ten but turn there middle to zero. I use a digitech metal master wen i play metallica and it sounds perfect :thumb: |

Thanks man! |
one of the reasons why it is tough to find metallicas unique distortion (songs like Dmage Inc. or Baterry) is because wen james records a riff he multiplies the original 30 times, he then records all them playing at the sametime and thats wut we hear on albums like MOP or RTL. Thats true thrash metal
|
I've been told that they crank Bass to 8, Middle to 8, Treble to 10, and last time I checked it sounded alright to me.

I hear all the way up except the mid is all the way off. also i agree with the guy about recording, do light distortion and clone/copy a lot for the real trashy sound |

30 times is a bit hard to believe |
30 times is a bit hard to believe
123, 2-4 times i woulda thought. |
I'm not 100% sure about recording it up to 30 times but ive been told the samething by my band/music theory teacher and my guitar teacher who are both big fans of metallica and both say that Hetfield records it 30 times, then again ive nvever herd it from metallica or cn it documented, but i do believe it is 30

I am a 100% that they turn their gain, treble, and bass all the way to ten and turn their middle all the way off, it is stated on the Metallica 1983-1986 most important riffs DVD |
Absolutely correct, but most amps sound better with less bass and some mids.
EDIT: during my long absense have I missed anything even vaguely interesting? |
I hate cranking the bass all the way up, instead of a louder booming sound, you get a muddy dull thud.

Yea, and sometimes you get a bass "fart". Which sounds horrible |

They call it that, because it does in fact sound like a fart

St. Anger isn't hated as much as other places around here. I love the album. |
St. Anger has it's moments.
|
And the whole non St. Anger hating is all thanks to me
/Be's a prick about it |
And the whole non St. Anger hating is all thanks to me
/Be's a prick about it
I like St. Anger because of all the countless arguments I lost with my friend about it. He ended up being very right. That was like...6 months after the album came out. I felt like a dumbass every day for about 6 months. |
I meant the general mood of the album in this thread you have got to admit that I was a large influence to that. If you can into this thread a couple of months ago and said "St. Anger rawks" then everyone would turn around and go "lolwtf StAnG@r SuXxX!!!!11!!1|
/Again be's a prick about it |

/Again be's a prick about it
Oh no, I didn't mean you didn't do anything. Everytime St. Anger came up in a thread I just wouldn't post. I understand what you did. |
I think I didn't like St. Anger cause it was too big a change in their writing too quickly.

Every album is a huge change. The last 4 were just more drastic. |
I don't really understand why so many people dislike the album. When you compare it to their last one, reload, it seems quite an improvement, then again its all about your opinions

So many people anticipated it as another MoP, because that's what it was rumored to be. So, they didn't compare it to Reload, they compared it to something like MoP, and became very disappointed. Soon, after those people heard it and hated it because they didn't get there MoP2 they picked at it about how bad it was, and soon people started to hate the album before they even heard it, because it had become the cool thing to do. |
no guitar solos.....that was the biggest dissapointment, but i still enjoyed it.
|
Every album is a huge change. The last 4 were just more drastic.
Well I mean this one was too much, if there is a thing like that. The no solos, new drum sound, tuned down on all songs, distortion and bass so high you can hardly hear the guitar in some songs. It was too quick for me personally to take it in, plus, I didn't get St. Anger- the song- I didn't understand its meaning til I saw the video, and I liked it a bit more, I respected it and not trashed it all the time like I had before. |
