Due to transport/rain/not sleeping last night I couldn't go CD shopping today but I am going tomorrow :D. Unfortunately I am keeping myself on a budget of 20 pounds so I am going to have to find some bargains which chances are won't happen around here :upset:. Nice haul by the way :)

Firecracker 07-28-2005 09:04 AM

Is the Jordan Rudess album good?

Drugstep 07-28-2005 09:59 AM

I'd like to get

Alice In Chains - Dirt
The Who - Quadropheniac
The Doors - Morrison Hotel

Last night I called some guy I used to go to school with that I thought hated me, and he asked if I liked AiC and I'm like "Yeah I was named after one of their songs" and he's like "cool."

No I will not explain how I was named after an ALice In Chains song. It's complicated.

KBSD91 07-28-2005 10:07 AM

Just wondering, this is offtopic, but where has 12ouncesofhate been?

Drugstep 07-28-2005 10:15 AM

Right here. He got his name changed to NJmetalMeister.

Morrison Hotel is a great album, though not as good as s/t. Strange Days and LA Women.

And I also think that you mean Quadrophenia by the Who.

Drugstep 07-28-2005 11:22 AM

Quadrophenia, Quadropheniac, same basic idea.

I have Strange Days and The Doors, and the reason I want Morrison Hotel is because I hear it's more rock-oriented than their earlier efforts, and I like the rock songs a bit more than the psychadelic stuff.

I really wish a mother would upload me Little Wing by SRV in the YSI thrad. :upset: ...

 i remember when i was ignored in the pop-punk yousendit thread, i'm sure it was 'cause i mentioned i was from R+M. :(

Firecrackercheese (sorry i can't remember what your new name is, yes i'm retarded) - I have a Jordan Rudess album 4NYC, it is ok. 'My Thoughts' is an amazing song. Then there are some good songs. Then some not so good songs. And then one awful song called lamb chops where he mimicks nursery rhymes. But yeah, i think he wrote the stuff very quickly after 9/11 and he played the concert where the audio was obtained to make money for the firefighters of NYC.

Haha, that's ok. Firecrackercheese is fine.
Ah that's good, i mean if there's one song good to listen to, i would buy the album, because it's all so nice and beautiful and stuff.
And that's a nice thing to do, good on him.

Thanks for the information. :thumb:

Yeah, I think you'll definietly like Rhythm of Time. It's very Rudess-ish.

That guy is a idiot and I hate it when everyone bases R&M over a couple of n00bs. I have actually been investigating into the genre emo today, just ask Rancid Dan! It was hilarious when he got pwnd though, went something like:

IdiotoftheGrave:look at me I'm advertising!
Me: Stop advertising large bundle of sticks or you will get banned!
Idiotface: Who's going to ban me, YOU?!?!?!? LoLorXxZ
Numbers Mod: No me :)

 It was so frigging funny

 I got pwnd by the swear filter :upset:

I don't know if i have given the album a chance really, i found it a little boring with no songs to really catch my attention. Though rudess's talent does shine on this album, his control of the piano is amazing, it just shows me how good i could be if I could get motivated

Anyways i uploaded 'My Thoughts' For you to check out.

Not when you deal with classical pianists everyday of your life. He knows a ****load about music but I know pianists just as good and better than him.

Just like Petrucci is about as good as the jazz teacher at my school.
Not when you deal with classical pianists everyday of your life. He knows a ****load about music but I know pianists just as good and better than him.
I want linkage or something. 'Cause I've played for a while, I'm not that great, I was gonna take grade 8 but then i had issues with my teacher and couldn't really get motivated again. I'm just astonished at rudess' control with flow and dynamics. His stuff with DT doesn't show his talents at all imo.

Hmm petrucci plays about 21 notes per second in under the glass moon, that is insane. I doubt the jazz teacher matches him, why would he be a Jazz teacher if he could play like petrucci?

Moses 07-28-2005 02:37 PM

I have this really sketchy entry for a composition competition that I'm entering but it sounds really bad because of my ****ty mic. I'll upload in a sec. He's a great player and I have vids and stuff of him but he's not as good as people think he is. Of course I'm no Rudess so I really shouldn't be talking.

Firecracker 07-28-2005 02:37 PM
Yeah, I think you'll definietly like Rhythm of Time. It's very Rudess-ish.
Ace. I'll be getting it when i have the chance then. :)

And yeah, he is so good, i wish i could play like that, but i did learn the majority of 'wait for sleep' which is really pleasing...
