It was groove-tastic.

I did find something quite humerous though...

Of all the gigs I've been to at the Carling Accademy, Mr.Scruff was the only one where they had the metal detector thingy's out, where they frisked people (I got frisked, stupid belt) and they searched everyones bags etc...they were even selling cans of beer from the bar.

Whereas, at every rock/metal gig I've been to they haven't used the metal detector thingys, haven't frisked people, but have searched bags. They also don't sell beer in cans at those shows.

Security is weird.

When we went in, the sun was setting.

When we came out, the sun was rising, it was weird.

I've never had major probs with security checks. They got stricter at download last year as the weekend went on, from a quick padding (me go the blonde beauty each time), to full pocket check, padding and questioning.

I need to go to an all nighter again. Rock City ones own, 5 bands min.

Brew 05-29-2005 01:56 PM

Reading last year they only checked bags and any opened bottles had to be finished or binned.

When I went to the Ozzfest in 2002 at Donny the check on my bag was really half-arsed, as if they didn't really care about checking it.

Adam Jones is GOD 05-29-2005 02:00 PM

The Donny staff really seem to have lost all effort in checking. Makes getting in quickly* so much easier
It cost me £3.05 for a pint of Guinness last night :(
Dont worry. It wont cost a penny at Download. (as long as you bring bags of rubbish)

Still, thats cheap for some venues i've been to, coug'Garage and Astoria'gh

Brew 05-29-2005 03:20 PM

I found it funny on the Download website, they said that if you take them bags of rubbish you get One can of Guinness! whereas at Reading if you collect a bag of rubbish you get a case of Carling.

Adam Jones is GOD 05-29-2005 03:28 PM

One Can of Guinness > 1 Case Of Carling

Still, ill probably end up paying for all mine anyway. The stuff we'll take will be gone by thursaday

GurS 05-29-2005 03:35 PM

Really? a bag of rubbish is a case of carling?

Every gig I've been to has had a bag search/ torch shon (sp?) in (lazy bastards-though workls for me :p) and "patting down" we wont use the other term...that's just likely to gain more :naughty: smilies than this one.
At Greenday they were searching bags etc (as you'd expect) and taking sweets etc off people, so we went through the search and were waiting for mates and felt completely screwed by the authorities (though we had no sweets) so we decided to erm...'liberate' some of the confectionary off the table, one up for the little man :D

Revision sucks.....dodging revision is fun :p (but oh so guilt laden :upset:)

Untitled 05-30-2005 07:30 AM

I should be rivising, but im ill coughhungerovercough but you know.

Brew 05-30-2005 09:56 AM

When we went to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers security were taking un-opened bottles of water off people, my mate had his 2litre bottle taken away. It was really weird that they did that, then inside they were charging about £1.60 for a bottle.

Bastards.

duffroxmysox 05-30-2005 11:22 AM

That's when sneaky-ness comes in hand Brew....haha apart from the fact some poor bastards had their choccie buttons and other stuff nicked off 'em, didn't get them back and possibly had to stand there watching us gorge on them, muahahahha

Brew 05-30-2005 11:59 AM

Poor bastards :(

So...at band practise we pretty much decided what we're going to play at the Battle of the Bands in about 3 weeks time, our guitarist doesn't actually know we're playing there yet, I can't get hold of him. I think he's dead.

Anyways...

For the first heat we're going to play:

Ozzy - Crazy Train
Sabbath - NIB

If we get to the 2nd round then its going to be:

Sabbath - Hole in the Sky
Metallica - Master of Puppets
Misfits - Scream

Then if we get to the final (I doubt it...) we're going to play:

Metallica - Creeping Death
Iron Maiden - The Trooper
Sabbath - Iron Man
Ozzy - Bark at the Moon (I hate that song, grr)
then whatever else we can insert into this space
and this space

It should be a good laugh.

GurS 05-30-2005 12:09 PM

I have "alabama song" stuck in my head. "alabama song" > every other doors song. EVAR.
