I'd call you out on spelling 'psychadelic' wrong, but I can't think of a witty one-liner to go with it.
Actually, I spelt it right. Last n00b self-pwned: Spat Out Plath Edit: What an awful 14,000th post. |
Okay, me being not that indie enough to know what to do with an upcoming concert, I come to you guys.
There's an upcoming concert at a small venue coming up featuring Mice Parade (and only Mice Parade). I have no idea what the prices are but I do know that it's on the 25th (saturday, I believe). Has anyone ever gone to any of his concerts? I downloaded an album and I like it but I want to know whether I should be expending time and money on this concert. |
If you're interested (which you are) and it doesn't cost too much you should go.

Fuck viruses.

gahhh MX has been so slow today, seems to be getting back up to speed now though.

They're a good band. |
So I go to work and it turns out that they changed the roster and forgot to ring me. I bought Purple Rain to ease my frustration.

I can't wait for Pelican and Mono any longer. This is torture.

Yay, biology test tomorrow. I should be studying, but I'm listening to Bomb The Music Industry! instead. And a big ass chemistry test on monday. Woohoo...!

I had a Biology test today. I've got a History test tomorrow, which I should study for, but I'm too busy playing CS to do so. |
So I might go to an advance screening of Match Point tomorrow night. Anyone seen it?

Yeah, my roommate loved it but I was a little disappointed. I mostly hated the characters and thought the theme driving the movie was too easy. Some parts of it are magnificent (surprises, acting) but ultimately I was a little let down. Especially since I had heard great things before I saw it. But it's well worth seeing because people's reactions were quite varied. Also, bread... did you ever see The Squid and the Whale? |
So, in two weeks I'll be seeing The Strokes, Eagles of Death Metal, and Van Morrison. Yeeeehawwwwwwww
So, in two weeks I'll be seeing The Strokes, Eagles of Death Metal, and Van Morrison. Yeeeehawwwwwwww
I saw The Strokes back in february, they were actually pretty good when I saw them, the new songs sound great live.
I'm seeing Yeah Yeah Yeahs in May, and Chilli Peppers in July. I just want something for March time now to fill in the gap though. |

I just livejournaled this and shit, and here it is for y'all:
So the guy from the music technology program at Northeastern University in Boston called me tonight. It was a really great conversation, to be honest. He listened to my music (a 15 minute sampler with 10 of my "best" works), and he sincerely seemed to like it. He said that a lot of the people that apply to the program send him portfolios that don't seem to have any relation to the curriculum at all, but that mine seemed very well fit for their program (which is basically a composition study with computer focus). He also read one of my essays, which was about a Frank Zappa album, Freak Out!, and its influence on me. He told me that one of the highlights of his life was seeing that band in 1967, and relayed to me that he felt he knew exactly where I was coming from. He seemed genuinely excited about the work I've done, and the education I can get at Northeastern, and it made me feel excited about it as well. They really seem to have a lot of opportunities that would suit me specifically. I really didn't expect to get a positive reaction from some guy in his 50s at a big university, but I'm so very pleased. The phone interview was a really nice entry in an otherwise ****ty day. |
That's great!
Are you set on Northeastern or are there any other uni's you're interested in? |
So my carpentry teacher didn't show up for class at all yesterday.
Must have been sleeping one off. Lucky for us, it was last block, so we got to go home early :-D I rented Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2 and called it a day. Also, apparently I'm an art fag ever since I wore my Meat Is Murder shirt to school. |
That's great!

Day-um.
I only got into one (crappy) college out of high school. |

Also, bread... did you ever see The Squid and the Whale?
It comes out at the end of next month. If it's playing anywhere near me, I should be able to afford it, so I'll go. I really want to see it. I'm pretty much a Woody Allen fanboy, at least from the 6 or so films of his that I've seen, so I'm sure I'll like it. I'll keep what you said in mind though, in case I am dissapointed. If I can't get into Match Point, I'll check out Capote. |

I saw Crimes and Misdemeanors, Interiors, Manhattan, and Mighty Aphrodite with my dad (who is obsessive over the guy) over the weekend, and holy crap is his stuff incredible. My dad also saw Match Point with my godfather at his place, he said it was good but that Munich was definitely better. |
I just went to see Hostel. Pretty gruesome shit.
|
Hostel was an ok movie the second time around, first time it sucked.
I got accepted to Michigan State, Michigan Tech, and Northern Michigan, and am awating word from Stanford and University of Michigan.
If you went there we would be 10 minutes apart and thus be forced to jam. But I know you want U of M. |

Interiors and Manhattan are amazing. I haven't seen the other two yet. Damn video stores. Be sure to check out Deconstructing Harry, it's my favourite so far. And Annie Hall if you haven't seen it. Melinda and Melinda is his second newest one and it's pretty great too.
I just went to see Hostel. Pretty gruesome shit.
I thought it looked pretty crap. I doubt I'll see it any time. Plus it looks pretty unecessarily nasty. |
Hostel was decent. It was a little overwhelming and thus hard to judge the actual movie.

My grandpa taught there, and the grandparents still live in Palo Alto, so he just sort of pushed me till I applied. At this point I'm split between UofM and Northeastern (which I didn't used to think was really a possibility). |
What are you wanting to study again Zappa?

If you haven't already, see Annie Hall. Arguably one of the best chick flicks ever. |

Hah, yeah I've seen it. My favorite has to be Crimes and Misdemeanors though. |
