Drum Phil 01-24-2006 06:27 PM

Ive already learnt my lessons. Ive learnt to control myself and im now pretty laid back in it all. In an ideal world i'd make my living playing my drums or as a sound engineer

jalel 01-24-2006 06:32 PM

Wouldn't we all???

In an ideal world there wouldn't be partisan politics........guess what?
Were you an alcoholic at 14? Were you stealing to pay for that addiction and certain weaker drugs? Do you have several large black marks on your criminal record? Do you live in fear of your own fury after hospitalising someone after attacking them with a hammer? No? Well theres my teen years in an egg shell.

I may well have pulled through that now and ive learnt some hard earned lessons.

Im not limiting myself to the bottom of society, if i wasnt happy here i'd move up the ladder.
heh.

No. I wasn't drinking at 14.

But everyone has their demons. The worst thing you can do is thing you are worse off then anyone else. It's all the same..

I worked as a lifegaurd for a few years. You ever drag a dead body out of the water, then bring it back to life? Held a dying person in your arms trying to stop bleeding from massive injuries?

Have you ever came home and had to wash your clothes that had a dead person blood on them, who you tried to save and couldn't?

Watched a persons life slip away in their eye's as you're desperately trying to bring them back?

Had to hold a screaming mother back as she watched her son have his throat cut open so a tube could be put into his throat so he could breathe?

Ever had to call "Clear!" while you hit the red button that sends a shock into a dead person to try and bring them back to this world?

Everyone has there issue to deal with. If you're problems are self caused... son you have a lot to learn. Dealing with the self is one battle.

Dealing with other's live's is a totally different ball park.

Everyone has there battles, the worst mistake you could ever make is to think your's are worse the someone elses.

Drum Phil 01-24-2006 06:38 PM

I know theres people with worse lives than me, i never said otherwise. What i DID say was that my previous life FORCED me to discover myself in time to save myself.

Drum Phil 01-24-2006 06:40 PM

Im not COMplaining, im EXplaining. Theres a difference.

Josiah 01-24-2006 06:42 PM

That is true...

When I was 18 I pulled a women with both legs broken out of her car that was on fire.

It's not anything though. I believe anyone would do the same thing in the same situation.

I believe that all people are inherently good.

jalel 01-24-2006 06:43 PM

Actually after josiah said we've all had rough times, you proceeded to ask hypothetical questions relating to your teenage years and how "rough" they were, as if to say "I had it worse." Least that's how I took it.....

EDIT: to Phil

Everyone goes through shit times. Adapt and overcome.

Drum Phil 01-24-2006 06:46 PM

Hmmm i got a bit lost on my point by the end of it. I never was good at english. Sorry Jos.

In the end im perfectly happy loitering at the bottom of the ladder. Some of the happiest people alive go home with bones aching and smelling like shit.

Faith, i beleive that was WHY i was explaining my "rough times", to show WHY i had to discover myself in order to adapt. I think you missed the point completely.
I think you missed the point completely.
I have had drunk females tell me this too.

Drum Phil 01-24-2006 06:49 PM

Im neither female (despite what Der Meister would have you beleive) or drunk.

In other news, i decided to cut down on my smoking a bit.

The Ska Man 01-24-2006 06:50 PM

Yay @ Drum Phil.

crazyguy832 01-24-2006 06:53 PM

Slightly ironic...

A couple months ago one of my friends stopped smoking and her asthma got worse.

Undisco Kidd 01-24-2006 06:55 PM

Even though I'm still young (14), I haven't gone through any major shit. I guess thats what comes from middle class small city living.

Drum Phil 01-24-2006 06:55 PM

Im not going to quit just yet, once things have calmed down a bit with mates trying to kill themselves/each other it just wouldnt work.

Win A Rabbit 01-24-2006 06:57 PM

josiah, my mom comes home smelling of "hospital" (death covered in cleanser smell) almost every day. occasionally she'll come home in some "borrowed" clothes, due to blood spraying all over her work clothes. one time she came to pick me and my friends up from a movie after work, and didn't realize that the entire right side of her shirt was covered in a pool of blood.

i've also had 3 people die on me. 2 that i didn't know, 1 that i was very very close with. i've had countless close calls with death, often from the same people.

Hardly. He's known as the depressing one. He died a sad man, from insanity, given to him by the only women he ever had sex with. Wich was paid for by his friends who felt sorry for him having never been with a women.

No wonder his writings are so dark and depressing.

Study up a bit on his life, you'll find that while his writings are interesting, you can very quickly find where and why they are so dark. His life was dark and depressing, he had few friends, was a social outcast.

Swing your view, study the writings of, for instance, Marcus Aurelius.
Given Nietzsche was a little man who did nothign but write about his won dark feelings, wich one can learn from no doubt.
On the other hand, you have Marcus. One of the greatest rulers the earth has ever seen.

Such a drastic difference in their writings.

I can understand that very well. Hospitals are more of death houses then living. My kudo's to those who can handle that level of morality and still fight the good battle.

That is very true what you say... the smell. That smell is something very unique.

Futuro 01-24-2006 07:10 PM

Personally, I don't have compation that in depth.

jalel 01-24-2006 07:13 PM

Since we're all telling sob stories (i'll cry you a river then you can build me a bridge so I can get over it)...........

Try waking up every day seeing the man who brought you into this world suffer from a disability which will most likely lead to a premature death. He may not live to see his children marry and start a family of their own. He may not see his potential grandkids. He doesn't go to the mall or other large stores because he can't walk more than 20 yards without getting severely out of breath, even though he is clearly toting a lightweight portable oxygen tank on his shoulder. Sure, he could use the hover-round or some other means of getting around, but he says he doesn't use it because there are people who need it more (albeit not many...). Because of said disability, he was forced into early retirement (right before a big promotion....how's that for irony...) causing his wife to work numerous minimum wage jobs to pay the bills. I could go on and on......but it's pointless......it won't change anything. Not only that........he doesn't let it get him down so why should I? But sometimes, it can't be helped......feeling sad...........

Josiah 01-24-2006 07:18 PM

Apply for dissability?

No adult should have to work a minimum wage job. That's just crap. It's SO easy to get a job that pays better then that.

Drum Phil 01-24-2006 07:21 PM

Ouch man. Sounds like my uncle, fortunately he's getting on a bit but its not easy. He has asbestosis and cant do anything anymore. He gets out of breath going to switch the heating on.

jalel 01-24-2006 07:22 PM

He's on disability. She now makes a little more than minimum wage ($8.00 an hr). She doesn't have anything past a GED though. Doesn't mean stuff isn't expensive. She thought her husband was going to support her....he did....and then BAM. **** happens. We have very little left over each month. But things are starting to look up as far as that goes.......I hope........

DuckinFutch8 01-24-2006 07:22 PM

God, I feel awful for you guys.

I'm with Porkupine though, I've never had any real battles.

I've never had any real run-ins with death, cept my grandparents, who died when I was 4 and 6, the other two are still alive...

Never anything major with drugs or alcohol... Never done them cept a little alcohol...

Never had any true romantic loves...

never had any serious diseases...

The worst "battle" I had to face was moving...

I feel like I'm very unprepared for things...

I know I'm lucky as hell though, but I've never really had to overcome anything large...

Futuro 01-24-2006 07:22 PM

it's the one reason i can't go into hospitals. i break down if i'm in a hospital for more than 5 minutes. i've only gone in once in the last 8 years, and that was to see my grandpa when they told us he had days to live. i had to leave the room 9 times in the half hour i was there. he's back up on his feet now, though. he fought through it like crazy.

Josiah 01-24-2006 07:43 PM

I hear ya man. Hospitals have a smell unique to them. I can't really stand it myself. The few times I've had to vist someone were for non-(near)death reasons. Breathe through the mouth time...

That wraps up me, too.

Moving, no drugs, just alcohol here and there, not much romance, no diseases, no deaths, though.
