There's a big difference between cars and music. A car runs at high performance or low performance whether or not you like it. Music is 100% subjective. You're really reaching here.
|
The Byrds are great. I borrowed Fifth Dimension from a friend about a year ago, I'm not sure if I've returned it or not.
edit- I gotta go though. Feel free to start up that John Mayer thread, or just find an old one in Other Music, I think they've had some before. |
1. I have no clue who you are
2. He does write catchy songs. Just because he was born in the wrong decade doesn't mean hes bad. And just because he doesn't shred doesn't mean hes bad. He has a great voice, writes classic riffs, and can pull it off live.
1. cool. i dont know who you are either. what does you not knowing who i am have anything to do with this? 2. just because he writes catchy songs doesn't make him good. 3. all i said was that he wasn't hard rock, which he isnt. it's like calling blink 182 punk. 4.classic riffs? i cant remember one. name a few for me. 5. i dont care if he doesnt shred. clapton is my favorite guitarist. he doesnt shred. jeff becks my second. he doesnt either. hes not anything great. |
So far, my ranking of the Byrds albums I own.
Sweethearts of the Rodeo > Fifth Dimension > Mr. Tambourine Man = Younger than Yesterday. I'll get Turn! Turn! Turn! the next chance I get. I also find it interesting how The Byrds were so religious. They have many Chrisian related songs and various amounts of lyrical content reguarding the concept. Some more known songs would be... The Christian Life Jesus is JustAlright Turn! Turn! Turn! etc |
I'm gonna buy John Mayers blues cd when it comes out, I don't mind his pop stuff at all, but his blues guitar is spectacular.
And that's pretty cool Magicbus, I'm thinking of buying a strat later in the year. I don't know if I want an Olympic white one, or a black one...or what pickups etc. It usually takes me forever to find a guitar I wanna buy. I'm happy with what I've got for now, but Les Pauls don't have the right sound for some of the stuff I wanna play. Man I've been missing this site...
I was gonna buy an Olympic White one, but the one that this guy is selling is Sunburst, which is cool too. Is John Mayer coming out with a blues cd? Or do you just mean you'll buy one if he ever does? |

I saw The Byrds Discography the other day at a sued place. Four cds and a big booklet for $40. I hope it's still there when I get back:(
I. Yes, and I am one of those close-minded people who say "I hate anything that's pop/mainstream", which is why I think Purple Rain, 1999, and Sign o' the Times are three of the greatest albums ever, and why I even dig all those one-hit wonders from the 80's. All the artists I like are unknown ones like Jay-Z, The Who, Dr. Dre, Kanye West, Miles Davis, the Rolling Stones, and Prince.
There's nothing wrong with pop, but "Your Body is a Wonderland" is nothing short of passive, mind-numbing, insipid drivel. II. If I say his music is "abysmal" aren't I basically saying that I really hate his music? You truly are a piss-poor arguer.
I like that song, "Daughters" I think that's the name. EDIT: I'm a good poster |
I like that song, "Daughters"
I think that's the name. EDIT: I'm a good poster
Me too. Cool avatar. |
There was story in the newspaper about a teenager that was run over by a car. According to his parents, he was a better guitarist than Hendrix, and a better lyricist than John Lennon. ("he'd be in heaven showing hendrix new riffs, and telling John Lennon how crap his lyrics were")
 |
Where was he from?
|
Me too. Cool avatar.
Right back atcha. Meh, I don't care for John Mayer... not because I hate his music (though wtf is up with that song, Daughters? worst premise ever), but because I can't stand those **** faces he makes when he sings... |
Stop fighting
Today I bought... Blue Cheer - Vincebus Eruptum The Byrds - Fifth Dimension Good albums :thumb: Especially Fifth Dimension, because I haven't ran into a pre Sweetheats of the Rodeo album that I completely liked, but now that's changed.
Blue Cheer?!!?!?! Ive been looking for some BC forever....:upset: How'd you like it? |

I changed to some vintage Neil.
|
I must say I also really don't like John Mayer.
I must say I also really don't like John Mayer.
I like when he plays guitar and covers Jimi Henrix songs. Damn Sweet Home Alabama came on and they referenced Neil again. |

I have heard of all of those bands except Kaleidiscope and Pretty Things.
