the first 'tallica album i bought was:
1. S&M (pirate version)
2. Kill 'em All (my favourite)

after 3 months:
3. Master of Puppets
4. ...And Justice for All

after 1 month:

5. Ride the Lightening

after 2 weeks:

6. St.Anger

after 3 months:

7. Black album

planning to get Reload or Garage Inc. can't decide which one first. any suggestions?

Squirrel 05-22-2004 09:56 AM

Garage'; it slays Reload purely because it has the Mercyful Fate medley on it.

Ok been a while since i got on but hey MR. Toolownz are you sayin that because Metallica sold millions of albums and pleased millions of fans that means they are awesome? If so how do you like Nsync and Backstreet Boys, they suck and they sold lots of albums and pleased lots of fans they another favorite of yours? But hey Tool does own.
yes doo the fact that we the fans still go to metallica concerts and spend our hard earned flow on a metallica show is proof that metallica still perform as well or better than any other metal act out there. In your words, yes, they are 'awesome'. Have you ever seen metallica live?
All right lets do something never done before on the Metallica forumn... How about you guys post up recordings of your selves playin any metallica riff or solo wouldnt that be fun ill post min as soon as i find my adapter
This was on my audio arena but here is a cover of Orion:

I got justice for my 14th bday along with a guitar/amp, and the justice tab book. Its the first real metal I ever heard. (i heard dokken before that, but that is almost hair metal, although george lynch pwns.)

Photophobic 05-22-2004 10:05 AM

^^That Orion ownz, I love the bass in it.

Don't put yourself down - Great cover ToolOwnz

I love You 05-22-2004 02:14 PM

On guitar i can play:

Master of puppets
fade to black
one
fuel
welcome home
for whom the bells tolls
enter sandman

What should i learn next. So many choices

btoto 05-22-2004 02:49 PM

try Kill 'em All stuff. every 'tallica fan must play the 4 horsemen. an awesome song actually !

ToolOwnz 05-22-2004 03:04 PM

thnx. My brother told me he remembers listening to orion all the time while he was a kid lol, so that song is pretty much ingrained into both of our dna. I think the reason I liked it so much was becuase I originaly heard MOP on a recorded cassette, that didnt have the whole album. It cut off half of orion. I only heard the beginning of the bass solo, so i never knew for a while what was on the other side of that song. Once I got the real one, i wigged out when I head the real ending, its been my fav ever since. Plus i heard damage for the first time so that was cool.

I think my favorite metallica songs to play on the guitar were (looong time
ago) Damage, Blitzkring, Shortest Straw, and Disposable Heroes.. (i been playing guitar forever and I still cant play the song all the way through non stop. I get f*cking cramps at the end of the first verse right before the pre chorus, and of course the pre chorus is insanely faster than the verse, ow.)

I also liked playing Garage days- Green hell, helpless, the wait; they are so cool to jam with, esp cuz they're pretty easy songs to learn.
My fav on that record was probably small hours. That songs kicks ***.)

Rhoadmaster 05-22-2004 07:33 PM

pinkbassboy88 05-22-2004 07:50 PM

Creeping death is cool, One is prolly the best though, that was tight. Even black album stuff that I didnt like all that much souded a lot better live like wherever i may roam. They are 2nd behind Tool as far as my favorite Live show. Tool puts on an amazing experience, but Metallica perform very well live. Lots of energy. They played a lot of **** when I saw them during the black album tour. they played like 3 hours, they came out for 2 encores. The massive stage setup where they were all changing places was cool. And Lars was still using the old white massive drumset, and jason was the only one with the short hair :thumb:

Dooflungerfletchface 05-22-2004 08:18 PM

Ok well anyways Metallica still sucks in my mind but hey ToolOwnz nice Guitar Work on that song.

fillmaker 05-22-2004 08:45 PM

they may be losing their talent, but when they retire only will their greatness in the old songs be forever remembered, therefore making them once again the greatest band in the universe

Griffin_Page 05-22-2004 08:48 PM

They never were the greatest band in the universe, there are many bands better. Metallica are good, and yes, only their good stuff will be remembered.

gernm17 05-22-2004 08:59 PM

i just bought my guitar world issue of this month and it came with a dvd that had a sneak preview of some kind of monster(just like 5 mins of it)

it was very cool imo it's like u see their lives and stuff i like kirk a lot he seems like a very nice guy he surfs and stuff i think i'm gonna love this movie

clown_phobia 05-22-2004 09:16 PM

gernm17 05-23-2004 01:39 AM
how good is the black album?
very good in my opinion, hetfield's singing got a lot better in this album it's more of a hard rock album than metal or thrash but it's still good

i think the best songs in that are
nothing else matters
enter sandman
my friend of misery
holier than thou
wherever i may roam

SlaveToTheGrind 05-23-2004 01:41 AM
Who here has seen Metallica live? If you have, which song do u feel is the best when they play it live? IMO Creeping Death live is the ultimate concert experience ( "DIE! DIE! DIE!")
i've never seen them live, and i will never do (well, maybe ;) ) ONE is live much better than on cd :)

SlaveToTheGrind 05-23-2004 01:47 AM
how good is the black album?
another opinion:

there are 3 songs i really like: enter sandman, nothing else matters and the unforgiven. the others are boring and slow but the solos are still acceptable.

Photophobic 05-23-2004 03:22 AM

Yesturday I heard some of the Black Album at a friends house(I was already familiar with a few of the songs, (sandman, whereever I may roam, NEM, unforgiven) and it occured to me that I really needed to get it. Onething though, I thought the chorus of my friend of misery sounded particulaly weak.

Now I'm torn between getting Black Album or Ride the Lightning first.

SlaveToTheGrind 05-23-2004 03:25 AM

get ride the lightning

Photophobic 05-23-2004 03:26 AM

I thought you might say that :p

SlaveToTheGrind 05-23-2004 03:30 AM

 you can also get among the living. that's a great album, too

Photophobic 05-23-2004 03:34 AM

Who's that by?
(My knowledge of thrash is limited to say the least)

SlaveToTheGrind 05-23-2004 03:35 AM

anthrax
