if you want stoner and or doom, join the daily upload, there is sometimes some albums on it, plus I'm planning on uploading some myself, since I got really into the stuff (been to clutch and the sword and witchcraft this week, and monday josiah is coming to my town)

Iron Bars 04-21-2007 08:24 AM

Witchcraft are good. I've never really checked out Clutch of the Sword.

Poofy 666 04-21-2007 08:50 AM

Whoever wants a link to Forest of Shadows' Departure, let me know. Its really good epic doom.

I uploaded it for the DU, so just wait for it if you are on it.

23-inch dude 04-21-2007 09:06 AM

that's odd iron bars, Clutch and the sword rocked(especially that evening) but witchcraft sucked in my opinion, I heard good things about them(hadn't heard any music of them though) but live, man...

Phototropic 04-21-2007 10:22 AM

how do you join the daily upload?

i just got Across Tundras album in the mail

sounds absoloutely massive and primal, gonna take some getting used to but i heard good things in the first listen!

23-inch dude 04-21-2007 11:48 AM

just go to the thread and you'll see

Txus 04-21-2007 11:11 PM

Any of you guys like Indian? Such a great sludge band, if you guys like Neurosis or Lair of the Minotaur you'll definitely like them. Crushing stuff.

metal-militia 04-22-2007 07:49 AM

Just downloading the new Trouble album. Think it's pretty good so far.

Give me Beer 04-22-2007 01:43 PM

I just got back from RoadBurn 2005, it was crushing. Acid King got everybody softend up so Om could drive a buldozer over the audience for Neurosis to sledgehammer everybody over the head and what was left standing was smashed by Black Cobra.

King Buzzo owned the room friday. Big Business/Melvins make a great combo.

This was like my Woodstock :D.

http://www.roadburn.com I bet you're all jealous. The location of the camping was in a freakin' Safari park. It being organised in Holland meant cheap, readily available, quality weed.

Two days of solid bliss.

23-inch dude 04-22-2007 02:05 PM

man!!!

ATM 04-22-2007 02:21 PM

Sounds so good :)

So which band was your favorite? I bet seeing Om was pretty badass.

Give me Beer 04-22-2007 04:27 PM

Definitely Om. Seeing Cisneros and Hakius in the flesh... too good to be true. They were so very crushing, I almost became their music :D. Acid King was the surprise of the festival for me. I liked them on record but live they were so much better. I just couldn't believe what I was seeing. Big Business and the Melvins were far more powerfull than I expected going in and Black Cobra gave far more than I gave 'm credit for.

Pelican was also sweet but I didn't see enough of the gig due to time constraints (only saw the last half hour or something).

Next year, three days. :D If we're lucky we'll have a Sleep reunion by then ;).

Shattered_Future 04-22-2007 07:16 PM

Man, that sounds freaking cool.

Are Paradise Lost considered doom metal, or are they more gothic? Whatever they may be, their new album is ace.

Txus 04-22-2007 08:06 PM

More Goth, I don't like them :(

Starts drooling.

But is there anything that sugests they'll get together with Pike again than?

Give me Beer 04-23-2007 02:06 AM

One of my friends claims he read an interview in which they said they didn't rule out the possibility of a reunion.

One can only hope.
The Gates of Slumber were fantastic when I saw them with Reverend Bizarre in October.
I saw them on that tour as well. This time they were better!

I also 'got' Centurion's Ghost for the first time. Every other time I've seen them I just haven't been able to get into them but this time... well I'm a definite convert. Yes, they may have death metal (well almost hardcore) vocals but they have the doom feeling in spades. With the demise of Thee Plague of Gentlemen, could Centurion's Ghost be the heaviest band in the world? It's possible.

Witchsorrow were the opening band and they are definitely ones to watch. With bands like Witchsorrow, Lamp of Thoth, CG, The River, Unsilence, Warning etc I reckon the UK has thee best doom scene in the world. Discuss.

Jondur 04-23-2007 03:24 AM
hey i am interested in hearing more of the gates of slumber.

anybody got an album of thiers to upload?
Seriously right, there's no excuse for this. You want to hear them before you buy something - well go on their myspace site. There's about 4 songs there to hear. If you like them then buy an album. You're not ripping off EMI here - you're stealing from a small underground label that relies on the sales of each album to finance the next one.

If you can't afford to buy an album, well, I can't afford a Porsche so I'm not going to go and steal one.

Of those I've only heard Warning and their Watching from a distance is becomming one of my favorite albums fast.

Als great UK doom and one of my favorite doom bands: Cathedral.

Yeah I didn't think too much of Centurion's Ghost when I saw them.

I've heard a few Witchsorrow songs and thought they sounded very promising. I'd love to see them and Lamp of Thoth.

Only Cathedral's early stuff is doom really. I love Forest of Equlibrium.

ATM 04-23-2007 06:28 AM

Cathedral are damn good.

Have you guys heard Sons of Otis?

Phil 04-23-2007 06:30 AM

Has anyone heard of Virgin Black? They're an Australian doom metal. They released a new album this year, its got the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra on a few songs. Its an interesting album.

pate 04-23-2007 07:34 AM

Yeah, so Novembers Doom, Solitude Aeturnus and Saturnus were ****ing amazing this weekend. I would post more about it but I'm getting ****ing sick of mx.

Hey I was thinking of ordering some Pentagram LP's from www.stonerrock.com I already have the Turn To Stone best of, any other suggestions? I was looking for some of the later stuff for variety.

Sons of otis have some killer riffs + grooves

the vocals kill it though, they are atrocious, if they were instrumental they'd be better

get 'Be Forewarned'. Now!!

Apocalyptic Raids 04-24-2007 10:32 AM

Day of Reckoning is really good too.

pate 04-24-2007 04:56 PM

So the new Candlemass leaked. It's really kickass.

Txus 04-24-2007 04:58 PM

I'm downloading now :)

pate 04-24-2007 05:04 PM

This is my 4th time through it in a row. It's so much better than the self-titled, just like Rob Lowe is so much better than Messiah.

BTW Mike....I met Rob Lowe and John Perez this weekend. :p:p

Txus 04-24-2007 05:06 PM

Ohh you bastard  I bet Lowe is such a nice guy

And if its much better than the s/t I will definitely love it since the s/t is my 2nd favorite...yeah, I'm weird.

pate 04-24-2007 06:07 PM

Rob was really nice, but John Perez was the coolest guy ever. I talked to him about (gasp!) Testament and Bathory.

The first few tracks on the s/t are great, but then it goes to **** IMO.

Daven 04-24-2007 06:11 PM

I got the new Candlemass yesterday, but i havent listened to it yet.

pate 04-24-2007 06:40 PM

I'm on my 5th time through it in a row. It is great.

Shattered_Future 04-24-2007 06:56 PM

I should get that then. I didn't like their S/T at all, to be perfectly honest.

Txus 04-24-2007 07:00 PM

Wow, I love it. Why is that, Mike?

Shattered_Future 04-24-2007 07:03 PM

Dunno. It's just really, REALLY boring. I kinda found that about a lot of their stuff, to be perfectly honest...

Don't hurt me.
