Just as a warm up or something you mean? Probably be better off buying a skipping rope in all seriousness. Weights aren't my thing, I've always been good at athletics so all I really know anything about is cardio. I "do weights" at work moving cartons of booze around all day. |

For example, if you're doing high intensity interval training, you're going to only want to do it for five minutes at a time. But when its part of a longer workout, it becomes effective. If you're doing cardio on your own, like jogging - then you're going to want to at least 30 minutes. Anything less is a waste of time, indeed. |

I really do think she's a great artist, one of my favourite, not just in the electronic and ambient genres but in general. I can't speak much French at all, just what I've picked up from a friend; but I still love it, it's very soothing. Her French language music is magnificent, her first album is pure magic. The only artist I've hear to cover Bowie, Cobain and Iggy Pop and do them all well. |

I run on average 4 days a week and mix it up depending how much time I have, high intensity intervals I'll do for up to 15 minutes including a small warm up just because I'm able to do it and am good at sprinting. I'll do "rolling" training for 30 minutes at a time going from a quick walk to a medium jog at intervals when I have more time. Sometimes I'll do straight 30 minutes jogs but work on incline running instead. When I've got more time I'll do up to 40 or 45 or solid endurance, which I suck at, 5km's is good for me, and that's only averaging around 7kph. |
I'm too bulky for medium intensity training (jogging for prolonged periods of time.)
I'm 220 lbs. That doesn't translate well to my knees, shins, and feet as I relentlessly pound the pavement for hours at a time lol. All I can really do is high intensity interval training. I get bad shin splints and pulled tendons in my feet all the time. Sucks. I used to run about 8/10 miles a day, and it destroyed my knees. Did it for about six years straight. High impact exercise, running. But back then I was the same height and only about 160 lbs, so... |
You stay up pretty late for an Aussie, funky.
|
I got shin splints for the first time in ages the other day, pain in the arse because I was doing I 9 hour shift too. My feet/ankles/knees are pretty bad so I've got some pretty intense orthopaedics and really good shoes or else I wouldn't do it.
The main reason I try to steer clear or any major weight lifting is because after working my current job for a while all the muscles in my lower back compacted around my spine and was getting really painful because I've got mild scoliosis already, doing weights just makes it worse. I've gotta keep all my back muscles as loose as possible at all times, when they tighten up it does my spine no favours. What's my weight translate to in lbs. hrmm, not much, haha. Like 160 maybe, I think. Tallish and thin, built for running. |

I just finished writing a draft of a personal essay that was due yesterday, it's already 200 over count and usually when I edit, it gets worse, but I'm sure I'll figure something out. I'm having fun with it though, it's a 2000 word personal essay for my Creative Non-fiction unit, i'll get draft feedback on Monday, so that'll help me cull it. Got Stylistics junk due before then. And I'm going to the dentist tomorrow, I don't know why I'm still up. I finished like an hour ago. |
Yeah I'm a slim dude too maybe 80kgs after a big meal.
Creative non-fiction, sounds like a fun one. |

Nice one, I don't think I'll shoot for it too much myself though.
|
I've been riding the 200lb (~90kg) line for a couple years now, but I'm glad to say that, now with my new job where I do a fair amount of lifting and moving, it's more muscle than fat.
Yeah I'm a slim dude too maybe 80kgs after a big meal.
Creative non-fiction, sounds like a fun one.
It's probably the unit I've had the most interest in, it's all about Gonzo journalism, reviewing, being a subjective prick and criticising everything basically. I learn more practical skills in stylistic and lit units, like structuring, forcing certain types of readings, lit. techniques and such. The "fun" units like this one and short story writing and stuff are more about getting experience, playing with things, understanding the conventions of things. If I compared it to music; fiction and journalism subjects are like practical work and lit and stylistics/linguistics are the theory side. They teach you why and how things work, how readers behave and such and the "prac" subjects teach you how to apply the techniques. Here's an excerpt from the main piece for creative non-fic I'm working on at the moment, I wouldn't put the whole piece up because a) it's way too big and b) I haven't even proof read it and I know it's difficult to follow convoluted horseshit: Bellowing in Joe’s ear, I asked if he’d like another drink. He shook his head ‘no’ and gave me a cheeky grin as he displayed a pint of something dark and thick in front of him. Heading towards the bar, I failed to notice Sam, (another workmate whom I constantly try to outdrink) as I was far too busy looking at the bar girls’ short shorts. When she came over to serve the two of us, as it were, Sam surprised me by blurting out “you’re right Ryan! Jagerbombs ARE a good idea; we’ll have 4 thanks,” and beamed widely at me. Before my brain caught up, the drinks were already being prepared. I gave him one of those looks, the ones that say, “I will hurt you one day.” All the other stuff I'm doing is no fun to read and is all theory, I could show you other major pieces I'm doing at the moment but, you'd read it and say "yeah it was ok" but then I'd have to explain that the piece is not a short story but an exercise on the use of silence turned into a short story. |
Intriguing.

I don't even think I'm a half-decent writer. Based on how it naturally comes to me, I end up combining eloquent form with very contemporary function. I write naturally like a literary traditionalist but have very little interest in classic literature or traditional writing styles, like "old" journalism or simple narrative. |
Plus it's all I'm good at worth studying. Vet nursing leads nowhere, not smart enough for vet science, music I do in my own time, film I would get nowhere because I was always better at preproduction and writing anyway. So writing it was.
Although one day I DO want to work in the RSPCA in some capacity. Or work/run a pet shop while doing more freelance based writing and fiction on the side. |
That minor in Marketing I have might help... I hated doing all the core business units though, I'd never have made it through the Business degree I was doubling with. I don't want the stress of running a place, just want to work there, maybe assistant management so I can not starve to death trying to write for a career.
And I'm going to bed. ****. |
I'd like to adopt a kitten from the RSPCA one day.

Just WRT your brother corbulo will, i find it easier to paint eyes before painting the skin tone. makes for a neater end product imo. try it on the next one you do :)
|
i really need to start going to the gym more as well. i have a membership, but i haven't been in like 3 months. not mega into free weights/lifting and stuff though. i'm not into bulking up like that though, i want to just lose some fattt
|
the way i paint eyes is i do the skintone, leaving the eyes white from the primer
then i paint a line down the forehead through the center of the eye then i apply the second layer of skintone over any color not in the eye i just need to touch it up is all btw pics like that of 40k minis painted by crappy painters like me suck cause it blows up all the mistakes you cant see IRL cause the damn thing is so small |

lifting weights it the best way to lose fat. sorry, there isn't any way around it =/ there isnt any reason 'not' to be into lifting. most people aren't cause they're intimidated by weights and gyms. 90% of people who lift weights are weaklings who do it for fitness, and good for them! they have the right idea. dont be scared of gyms or lifting. being strong physically makes you feel strong mentally and emotionally. its not only good for fitness but for over-all self esteem. follow my routine. |
on that note, I'm really close to maxing out our bench machine at my apartment's gym. my room mate already has. 250 lbs.
we both already maxed out the curling machine at 150. |
sade has no chance against MUM-RA
pussy bitch even snarf can curl 150 |
I've been in an exceptionally good mood today. I don't have a clue why. I've been pretty cheery and happy all day. Wtf?
