He is alright. Everyone makes him out to be better than he really is. A majority of his lines are hammer ons/pull offs along with some EVH tapping, so it isn't anything too special.

Their music bores me now. I liked them back in the day when they first started out, and they were a no-name band, but, now, they are just "meh."
To me, they've always been, "...this is bad music."

Yeah, most of his "INSAYINE RIFFZ" are garbage but he's still a good guitarist.
Why do you hate his lyrics? I freaking LOVE his lyrics. He's a great writer.

I also love his voice. It's very unique and fits the music so well.

-Gav
Only some of his lyrics and his vocals on some songs. Stuff like No Lies, Just Love makes me want to punch myself in the ears.

BenJammin 10-03-2006 07:52 PM
In all honesty no, I haven't heard of them.

Gav I will give them a listen on myspace see if I like them,
Oh, clever.

Well, they're good for a listen. Warren Ellis, their violinist, plays for Nick Cave, as does their guitarist, I believe.

If you want something mellow, check out "Ocean Songs" or "Whatever You Love, You Are."

But if you want something crazy and aggressive, check out "Horse Stories' or their self-titled.
Seeing as they're used strings... little to nothing. Probably nothing.
123.

Make them into lame jewelry and sell them to dumb kids. You'll make some money that way.

DaveSavesTheDay 10-03-2006 07:55 PM

Yeah, I agree. Not many people would jump at the chance to buy used strings.

I love when he sings out of key. He's usually drunk or on some sort of drug so that's why.
And I sat watching a flower as it was withering
I was embarrassed by its honesty
So I prefer to be remembered as a smiling face

Not his best lyrics but still pretty good.

Yeah, he has also been only playing guitar for like 4 years now or something like that. He's been playing drums for 9+, though, if I can't remember. It's somewhere like 12 years.

Back when they first started out was back when I still was developing what I really liked, so, of course, they were good back then. :p Their self-titled is still fun to listen to sometimes, but Doppleganger is just utter crap, and it just has a bunch of re-recorded songs from their first album.

They were also fun to see live before Thomas started becoming an ass.
Yesterday i went around my room and collected all my old string and put them in a bag, there's about 20 strings there I think there is only one full set that i could find.

What's important is that I finally did give him a chance and I grew to like him. I realized that he is a good song writer, not a bad lyricist (some are very good, others not so much), and not a bad singer.

-Gav
For one, he just comes off as an ass and everyone states this. Also, once at a show, he kept yelling at everyone because they accidentally kicked his pedalboard, which is an understandable thing to become upset about. Instead of, let's say moving it back, he just left it where it was and kept yelling at everyone. He also comes off as quite pompous, and I have also had people tell me that he is on many occasions as well.

I read an AIM conversation between him and my friend, and it was quite possibly the most ridiculous thing I have ever read.

All in all, I have never actually spoken to him because Tim is way cooler.

Horrible singer

But it works.
