I love the beats on It Was Written and Illmatic has some great ones too. I need to listen to Hip Hop Is Dead a few more times.

Yeah, I miss the straight piano and drum beats of Illmatic. That album is so raw and those beats are really reminscent of the NYC scene at the time. Now his beats are more poppy, but still good.
