!. You have officially blown my mind. :amaze: |
ok ok, i admit it, i'm a classic rock nut. i love led zeppelin, the beatles, the who, eric clapton, the doors, and so on. most of the bands i listen to broke up years before i was born. at 17, nearly every song on my playlist is older than me. but is it just my imagination, or is classic rock experiencing sort of a revival. i am running into an increasing number of classic rock fans my age. at my school (an all boys high school), the school newspaper took a poll of everyone's favorite genre and band. led zeppeling got 5th and the beatles got 6th, behind that rap crap. classic rock made up a large percent of ppls favorite genre. is this just by me, or are other ppl noticing this too?
o and for u classic rock fans, the crime of the new century was that the Yardbirds new CD, Birdland, recieved no attention at all. that deserved a grammy, or 6. so are there any other classic rock fans out there, and even if ur not, have u been noticing somewhat of a revival in interest for that sort of music?
you named all my favorite bands, the only new bands i like are the white stripes, cake, and the black keys. chili peppers are good, but there not really new. yes all my friends love classic rock, its pretty big where i live in dallas. but yes, there are still those rap and punk mogerers in my town... |
was john densmore there?
Ya clapton played for a pretty long time too it was amazing.
i saw clapton at crossroads last june, he was a god |
I love it when people quote the first post.
|
On another note Jeff Healey rocks. The guy is a rock god. A blind rockin, sexified rock god, ya dig? G O D.
|
Something horrible happened! I went to a few used record stores, my favorite kind of stores, during my trip to ohio, and I couldn't decide on an album to buy. I did buy a Cream dvd to further study Clapton's techniques, which is freakin awesome, but I couldn't decide on a cd. Could somebody please point me in the direction of a good one? I was looking for some Jethro Tull and Yes, but I'm not really familiar with all of their albums. Any suggestions?
|
Can't go wrong with Yes-Fragile. Or Time and a word. (only two that I have  ).

So did I :). The only people on the face of the earth that are better than Jeff Healey are the people who saw him live :). He played the Mike bullard show once. I lost a little respect for him that day :( ( still tons of respect left). |
What are some good Jeff Healey songs?

You deprived child. never hearing a lot of healey is like never hearing a lot of hendrix  Anyone think I may be over-hyping him just a bit? |
Perhaps....
|
All right I am over-hyping him. But he's like a blind, white not as good at guitar but close hendrix. And he's a better singer.

and one of them was for free! (as I didn't even buy a ticket [even though I had the best "seat". Then again I couldn't buy a ticket since you had to be over 18) |
One of my favorite classic rock bands was Foreigner, but you don't hear much mention of them in classic rock conversation. They had some great songs like "Jukebox Hero", "Hot Blodded", and "Dirty White Boy". They also had that great Les Paul through a Marshall Plexi tone, and it is really pronouced on the beginning of "Long Way From Home".
|
I don't care too much for Foreigner.
|
Ya they've never interested me too much either.
|
beatles rule
i love the who but come on!500 years from now one rock band will definitly be remembered:the beatles. the songwriting alone is lights years from most bands and the impact on music they had even thirty years later is still strongly felt. they also revolutionized production and merchandising while opening the door to more progressive music.I mean I'm a huge fan of hendrix but i really think these guys were the best overall rock band.

Warren Haynes or Jeff Healy?
Who does everyone think is better? |
