HighandDriving 04-16-2010 05:36 PM

Love that track, gonna hear it tonight.

I didn't even realize Excision was Canadian, hell yaaaa.

GJ89er 04-16-2010 05:58 PM

Datsik is absolutely tragic, boxcutter, digital mystikz and mala are a must listen.

Kyle 04-18-2010 05:45 AM

Really excited for the Guido record that's dropping soon.

I listen to some Burial; I prefer his tracks “Etched Headplate,” “Distant Lights,” “Fostercare,” and “Raver” over the other dubstep-oriented tracks. I like his ambient material much more though, such as “Dog Shelter” and “Night Bus”.

2muchket! 04-28-2010 09:50 AM

nice to know

Skyler 05-02-2010 04:33 PM

Just heard Rusko's new album. What a godawful piece of **** that is.

2muchket! 05-02-2010 05:32 PM

Haven't listened to it yet.

I'll judge tomorrow.
Just heard Rusko's new album. What a godawful piece of **** that is.
im listening to the tracks on his myspace. pop dubstep is a reality.. good production, boring songs..

this is kind of frightening, i'm wondering if crap songs with wobble bass is gona be the new thing

2muchket! 05-02-2010 10:23 PM

sorta already happening

Mt Eden for example

wang masta flex 05-02-2010 10:24 PM

some really cheesy **** goin on in every single one of these songs.

i dig this song tho, L-vis 1990 - Change the Game http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DGBsIswKBZ8

edit: yea people have definitely been making poppy / cheesy dubstep from the start, but ive never seen as high profile a release as this one, and its got like a Gucci Mane feature so im imagining pop records with every fluffcake MC with boring and simple as ever pop tunes, just now with womp ya know, its just possible that we could be hearing crap like Ruskos new album on the radio for years to come before something else... i mean im really not keeping up with all that much so its just that its new to me right now and its just got me thinking about it so yea. by the way just listened to Mt Eden - Sierra Leone and that song is pretty poppy, especially with the vocal sample, but i do think it was better and would probably be happier with Ruskos if it was more like this

tried to listen to another Mt Eden song, and the first half of Still Alive is like everything ive always hated about bad techno/trance... lame female vox and washy pads.. and the bass kicking in at 1min was not nearly good or interesting enough to redeem the general crappiness of this song. yeah this is really stupid i dont like the sound at all. **** can be poppy / simple / whatever without being lame, i guess im just hoping for the best

heres a song my friend just put out today, i think its tight http://soundcloud.com/extlabs/kept-blue-you-must-survive

publicastration 05-02-2010 11:42 PM

exactly wtf is wrong with mt eden

I love his imogen heap remixes

2muchket! 05-02-2010 11:48 PM

It's entry level dubstep.

So much better stuff out there.

Every kid who thinks they know about the genre or are getting into the genre (not saying I know it all but I've been a fan for about 3/4 years now, and have seen it grow somewhat) will like Mt Eden. Not a bad thing I suppose but god I'm sick of people posting their songs and being like "THIS TUNE IS SIIIIIICKKKK".

yeah if this is where dubstep is headed right now, i'm pretty bummed out. not that i've really been paying attention to the modern stuff anyway, but this probably a good example of why.

(*The Noonward Race*) 05-03-2010 12:09 AM

what's the problem? that part of how music evolves.

Skyler 05-03-2010 12:09 AM

there is no problem, i'm just not a fan of where it's going, that's all. which is why i shall proceed to ignore it.

(*The Noonward Race*) 05-03-2010 12:11 AM

i see that, but, why arent you a fan of it?

Skyler 05-03-2010 12:13 AM

because the darker, funkier, more experimental sounds based on old 2-step and drum and bass are gone in favor of this boring, poppy wobbly bass bullshit.

(*The Noonward Race*) 05-03-2010 12:16 AM

yeah i can see that, but the affected bass characteristic is a technological product thats new and it shouldnt stay static and it wouldnt

there still going to make the tunes with it in the way you like ! you know

Skyler 05-03-2010 12:24 AM

i don't know, i don't think they make tunes like this anymore:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1XlcddsYnLM

niobium 05-03-2010 01:17 AM

went to a dubstep hotel event in wisconsin dells this weekend called spring fever it was pretty much a rave/drug circuit, had a blast don't know how many people here listen to that kind of music but great energy

(*The Noonward Race*) 05-03-2010 01:47 AM
i don't know, i don't think they make tunes like this anymore:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1XlcddsYnLM
yeah, there is a change in the genre dubstep genre label they always change meaning eventually it could mean something else, most important i think is that you can at least still find the music you want

but yeah i hear this lost thing in lots of newer dubstep, it's ignoring the DUB, atmosphere.. and because of this theres a lot of basically slower, sound design wanking

HighandDriving 05-03-2010 10:15 AM

I treat them like two different genres, or a sub-genre. There's dubstep and the sub-genre wompstep. Both are good, but lets face it, whichever genre works best in a club scene will thrive more.

P.S I coined wompstep.

niobium 05-03-2010 11:01 AM

more apt title would be wubstep. everything played was like a month old or new, with that trademark high octane bass with the incredible frequencies and range

publicastration 05-03-2010 05:12 PM

i threw up a little when i saw gucci mane is a guest on that rusko album

this is probably the next wave of radio music sadly....

Skyler 05-03-2010 05:20 PM

I wouldn't be surprised. My friend's 16 year old brother, whose music taste doesn't expand beyond whatever hip-hop is on the radio, loves that Woo Boost song.

2muchket! 05-03-2010 05:23 PM

I remember trance was massive in the 90's, house was massive last decade, and the club driven dubstep will be huge in this decade.

Fair play to Rusko though, he's a nice dude and he's done his bit of producing and doing sets all round the country.

TimJim 05-03-2010 05:23 PM

isnt this wubstep also called filth guys

2muchket! 05-03-2010 05:24 PM

Not really.

HighandDriving 05-03-2010 05:33 PM

No it's not. And it's called Wompstep, didn't you see me coin the phrase fool.

Rusko has always kinda sucked.

Wompstep is far away from competing with Trance, and even further away from competing with House. In the future, who knows, but so far Dubstep in general doesn't touch the latter(s).

Skyler 05-03-2010 05:33 PM

For the time being anyway. We shall see.

And I think filthstep is just an incredibly lame term that you only see in youtube comments.

TimJim 05-03-2010 05:35 PM

its a p good adjective. stuff like Shekel always gets me hard

2muchket! 05-03-2010 05:35 PM

Regardless the type of music Borgore, Shekel, Tomba and Stenchman produce is hardly radio friendly.

It's also ****ing awesome.

TimJim 05-03-2010 05:38 PM

borgore made me laugh in the middle of class with his lyrics

HighandDriving 05-03-2010 05:38 PM
For the time being anyway. We shall see.

Agreed, Wompstep is a much better term.

I'd bet all the money I have, that dubstep doesn't overtake House before the end of the decade. Hell it won't even reach half the popularity and probably will never, in our lifetime, overtake House.

TimJim 05-03-2010 05:39 PM

most americunts dont even know what it is and when they hear it its just "noise" to them
