wow i just realized that my post count has gotten pretty high.
I remember getting to 1000 and thinking that was an insane amount of posts. I dont even contribute anything to these forums and i end up with 5k?

It confuses me.

mastrrbasser 10-16-2006 12:38 AM

casual thread does that to people.
casual thread does that to people.
Very very true.

I would say at least 70% of my posts are in the casuals

Aerodyne 10-16-2006 12:41 AM

I have gotten progressively less useful as I've posted more. I wish I could pull up my first posts. I was very very careful about what I said cause I didn't want to seem stupid. I remember posting in a thread about Timmy C's lefty neck theory. Edge promptly made my incorrectness apparent. :upset: Stupid "speaking length" of the string.

mastrrbasser 10-16-2006 12:42 AM

same here. all the threads end up being the same after a while. this one always has good ****.

i'm downloading a dvd rip for saw II. and it's coming in FAST. i'll have it in an hour or less.

Aerodyne 10-16-2006 12:44 AM

These people above me are really starting to piss me off. They've been doing whatever the hell they've been doing for damn near three hours now. AGGHHHHHHH!!!!! I'ma kill me an infidel paw!

Or am I? :naughty:

mastrrbasser 10-16-2006 12:45 AM

knock on their door, and take your pants off. join the fun. just make sure they're clean.

Aerodyne 10-16-2006 12:47 AM

I don't know. I wouldn't want my penis to have anything to do with about 90% of the orifices at this school.

ebe9 10-16-2006 12:48 AM

Well speaking of infidel paws..............Norton Antivirus's hours are numbered on my PC.

I remeber the days when it actually was a pretty fast machine.

And Windows Defender (antispyware program) is also to be destroyed.....

MWWWWWWWAHAHAHAHAH....we shall destroy them soon my pretty

mastrrbasser 10-16-2006 12:50 AM

hah. don't you love how most antivirus software slows down your computer more than the actual virus? sometimes i find it easier to uninstall all of it and just manually remove the virus when i get one.

I had wintermute recommend me AVG Antivirus (Freeware) and then spybot.

Thing is, we have been using Norton for the last 7 or 8 years, and just of late it seems to really be chewing resources, I don't remember it being this bad.

That and the fact that my computer is a bit of an older machine now.

Aerodyne 10-16-2006 12:53 AM

All I'm using for an antivirus is AVG, mainly cause it's free. I've got a friend who uses another free one caled Luke Filewalker, and he swears by it, so there's two alternatives for you.

mastrrbasser: How are the half rounds treating you? I orderd a set last week, and I'm pretty pumped. Did you find that they sounded better or worse as they aged?

mastrrbasser 10-16-2006 12:55 AM

i have my computer use windows defender, but i set it so it runs at like 5 in the morning, when i'm not using it anyways. Then i also run mcafee and adaware+spybot periodically.

they sound the same. I haven't changed them since i got them. Really nice tone. i can really control the tone on the with my fingers more than on rounds. If you use the fat of your fingers you get a nice woof bass tone, but if you dig in with your tips you get a really good fat growl. slapping sounds ace. I use them on my warwick and the slap tone sounds like a really nice jazz bass. I use lots of low mids so i get a lot of growl but it still cuts through like crazy. harmonics are beautiful too.

that being said, you'll need to adjust your neck when you put them on. They have more tension than rounds.

Aerodyne 10-16-2006 01:01 AM

What gauge did you get? I'm somewhat apprehensive because I bought the 55-110's. Should I be worried? :(

mastrrbasser 10-16-2006 01:03 AM

those will be heavy. i got 45-105s. i was going to get 50s, but i only wanted a little more tension than my current rounds (same gauge), and figured the half rounds would make good compensation for the amount of tension i wanted.

you'll need to take some relief off of the neck so the action stays nice and low though. they'll work.
What gauge did you get? I'm somewhat apprehensive because I bought the 55-110's. Should I be worried? :(
what brand? and do you down tune a lot?

Aerodyne 10-16-2006 01:06 AM

D'Addario's and no, I don't. I might have to start, though. I was thinking about trying D standard as a compensation for string tension, but I'm not sure, I might just have really tight strings for a while.

mastrrbasser 10-16-2006 01:07 AM

i love using half rounds becuase i can play with low action but with good strong tension.

HELLonWHEELS 10-16-2006 01:12 AM

I'm think the tension on your bass assuming its a 34 scale is going to be out of the world stiff. I don't think i could play it.

Aerodyne 10-16-2006 01:13 AM

I'm not sure if it's a placebo or not, but I just gave my truss rod a 1/4 turn and it made a pretty big difference. Am I crazy?

Aerodyne 10-16-2006 01:15 AM

Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of. They only had heavies and lights in stock, so I took the heavies. I probably shoud have waited a little bit, but I'll find out soon enough. :thumb:

funkyhoney 10-16-2006 01:16 AM

i return!

Aerodyne 10-16-2006 01:17 AM

Hmm. . . Should I take this to the Post Milestone Thread?

EDIT: Just in time for my 1000th post. I'm all warm and fuzzy.

Morning funky

funkyhoney 10-16-2006 01:22 AM

*tips hat* afternoon sir

Aerodyne 10-16-2006 01:23 AM

Yay! :D I feel important now, it's like I had my MX Bar Mitzvah. Okay, that was stupid, so moving on. The Steve Harris signature flatwound set that Rotosound sells is 50-110, so I should be fine. :thumb:

Rollo47 10-16-2006 01:35 AM

Yeah, I'm going for a Cort B5fl when I have the money. Might not be for a while :p

The_Red_Death 10-16-2006 01:39 AM

funkyhoney: Not sure if you've heard this yet... If you're looking for a Cort, LowExpectations has an Artisan A4 for sale. I saw your name mentioned in the thread, so I thought I'd let you know.

I actually have no idea how cort manages to produce the basses they do for the price they charge.

They must have cheap labour and own their own forests.

The_Red_Death 10-16-2006 01:42 AM

Corts are amazing. I almost got one before a Spector caught my eye.

funkyhoney 10-16-2006 01:51 AM
Cort B4FL all the way
mastrrbasser 10-16-2006 01:52 AM

yo hobbes, i know you're good at giving advise to us youngsters on MX. if you don't mind, can i get your opinion on something?

ebe9 10-16-2006 01:53 AM

<<<<<Sits on the porch watching the tumbleweeds blow by.

I love how the casual hits a point where everyone in posting and its difficult to keep track, then all of a sudden it dies an extremely quick death.

That awkward silence moment where everyone just shuts up and waits for somebody else to start it up again.

<<<falls on the hand grenade for the good of the casual
