Eh', ok my bad on that assumption.

I would also assume hes looking for bands like Summoning in that aspect, and also he knows of Emperor since thats his avatar heh.
No problem man, partially my fault too. :thumb:

pseudokudo 01-18-2005 07:00 PM

anyone who is into progressive should pick up Ocean Mind from Divine Regale. a great album from a band who i think fell off the face of the earth. the album is awesome. it was released in the mid-late 90's. if your into Dream Theater or Fates Warning, you'll dig this.

chaos_theory 01-18-2005 07:25 PM

would someone please recomend me song book 80's metal bands like iron maiden

CaptainWaits 01-18-2005 07:40 PM

^^Manowar, Helloween, Avantasia (not 80's though)

Ninoor 01-18-2005 07:51 PM

piff 80's bands suck. But I guess Whitesnake, Twisted Sister, Judas Priest (cuz I'm assuming you listen to hair metal)

chaos_theory 01-18-2005 07:59 PM

ok let me rephrases that bands similar to iron maiden

LeperAffinity 01-18-2005 08:00 PM

Slayer, Kreator, Ozzy, Exodus, Dark Angel, etc all either formed or performed during the 80s. 80s metal > You

Edit: I won't even touch the fact that you linked Priest with hair metal.

Umm.....I think Dragonforce sounds somewhat like Maiden.

How about Privelage of Evil?

dUSK 01-19-2005 08:45 AM

Can someone recommend me the best NIN album to get, for someone who has only just touched on them and is looking to hear more? Thanks:)

floyd.the.barber 01-19-2005 08:48 AM

the downward spiral

munky_magik 01-19-2005 08:51 AM

I prefer "The Fragile" myself. I have both over AIM if you want them.

dUSK 01-19-2005 09:04 AM
I prefer "The Fragile" myself. I have both over AIM if you want them.
I have a really slow internet connection, and don't wish to make you wait around for ages while sending. And I really rather buy the CD, but thanks for the offer :thumb:

I guess I'll get The Fragile, a lot of members I respect seem to think it was a good album in the last poll.

munky_magik 01-19-2005 09:10 AM

Ehh...I was just trying to help :)
Some people just like to get a taster of the CD before buying, but I also prefer buying the CD's.
TDS and TF are both really great albums but for me TF just edges ahead slightly, but in an ideal world you should just get both :p

dUSK 01-19-2005 09:15 AM
Ehh...I was just trying to help :)

My wallet is gonna be extremely unhappy after I move, this list of CD's just keeps getting bigger and bigger:lol: :upset:

munky_magik 01-19-2005 09:17 AM

I noticed that as well, it doesn't how many cd's you buy...the list just gets bigger, and bigger, and bigger.......

Bartender 01-19-2005 09:24 AM

I'd also put The Fragile over The Downward Spiral. The first disc of The Fragile is almost infinitely better than the second, though.

On a related matter (lists of CDs getting bigger and bigger), I'd like some recommendations for good albums from the 60s and 70s. Preferably not just "all of The Beatles/Black Sabbath/Pink Floyd/insert preferred 60s/70s band here", if you please.

Satch has neo-classical songs? Can you specify some for me? Any particular albums or songs?

Edit: Any albums or songs by anyone**

I've heard some, don't know the names though.

CaptainWaits 01-19-2005 07:52 PM

Anyone know some good Progressive Power Metal like Symphony X??

Iron Man 01-19-2005 07:56 PM
Anyone know some good Progressive Power Metal like Symphony X??
From what I know, no one sounds quite like them. The most prog-like PM band I can think of off the top of my head is Blind Guardian.

Don't worry about it dude, who knows, maybe Blind Guardians a band like Iced Earty, you just gotta listen to them a lot before you begin to like them. So maybe that's what I'll do

munky_magik 01-20-2005 04:27 AM
Satch has neo-classical songs? Can you specify some for me? Any particular albums or songs?

Satch and Vai don't have neoclassical songs. Try some Becker, Friedman and Malmsteen.

ArcLite 01-20-2005 04:28 AM

While we're talking classical I have to suggest Symphony X.

You useless bastards :(

*has a natural deficiency in 60's/70's music and is therefore excused from making reccomendations on the subject*

ConFounded 01-20-2005 09:14 AM

i have a request. i think the music and style of necrophagist is completely awesome (the complicated and technical nature) but i cant stand the singers stupid voice. that low bellowing crap just really annoys me. what other bands play in their style?

Chiefgeezer 01-20-2005 10:13 AM

well i just bought the Rush album 2112 and...i've been blown away, its amazing so go check that out 1976 i believe. I spose any other rush album too but i can't vouch for them

IAJP 01-20-2005 11:31 AM

2112 is quite possibly one of the best albums of all time.
Can anyone recomend me another song by "The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown" ?(they did, "Fire...I bring you to burn" etc.)

Bartender 01-20-2005 11:41 AM

That's the only song I know by them, unfortunately. I would also like to know something else by them though.
