who is quentin tarantino?, and why him?
Tarantino is the director behind: Kill Bill Resevoir Dogs Pulp Fiction and loads of other (usually great) films. He has a very distict style in his diection, which is very different from your typical mainstream director nowadays. He also did Hostel, which was crap. *media studies student* |
I dont think Tarantino is right for a greenday movie.
I mean, it will be an 18 at least, its the law for him to make it with that rating. Greenday's main audicance no is between 13-18.... |
Yeah. He's hardly going to be happy with them putting a massive scrambler on the screen every time someone is smoking, or drinking spirits, or getting their boobies out, or showing a clothing label.
MTV, Kerrang, they're all as bad as each other. And I just realised.. In the first Going To Pasalacqua video, is it just me or does Mike look like Keanu Reeves? |
I cant see a resemberlance, no.
|
OK, I need glasses.
|
haha, yeah, I don't see anyone there but Mike.
|

Actually, who's the guy who directed Fight Club? There are some similarities between American Idiot and Fight Club (the whole split personality thingy). |
Who would take a Green Day movie seriously?
I know I wouldn't. |
He also did Hostel, which was crap. *media studies student*
Hostel has nothing to do with Tarintino, it was directed by Eli Roth, and Tarintino slapped his name on it so it'd get attention. /film fanatic Fight Club waaaas... David Fincher I think. He's great. I would not take the film seriousley though. |
Who would take a Green Day movie seriously?
I know I wouldn't.
Nah, not really. I hope Green Day doesn't take it too seriously either because it might take some of the fun out of it. Although, I don't want Yellow Submarine either. |
I WAS JOKING YOU NERDS.
seriously I think A gd movie w/ quentin would be crap. who directed silence of the lambs? *my favorite movie of all time* that guy could do it. |
who directed silence of the lambs? *my favorite movie of all time* that guy could do it.
One of my all time favs too! Directed by Jonathan Demme. |
that was a joke again, (no good for AI) there might be a lot of cannabalism. heh heh.
do you know if demme directed red dragon, too? |

oh god i hope you mean only in that movie. and I see nothing in her... but nvm.
the movie is good because of anthony hopkins. |
She is hot, end of.
I watched all 3 Hannibal films the other night at my friend's house  Good stuff But anyway, on the topic of Green Day. What does everyone think the new album will sound like? |
****. ha hah.
maybe we should do a petition for more dookie sounding stuff. just no more "political" media attracting stuff. |
Jodie is pretty fine.
Anthoney Hopkins for the win though. And no, Damme only directed silence. Some obscure guy directed RD, and Hannibal was Alien's own Riddley Scott |
red dragon was pretty good, I loved the william blake dragon tatoo, that was pretty intense. I saw 1/2 of hannibal. I saw the movies backwards ( kind of) so I didn't know all the "history" to it. did jodie foster die in hannibal?
|

What does everyone think the new album will sound like?
I'm guessing it will be more like AI than any of their past stuff. Warning is kind of like the bit inbetween AI and Nimrod in terms of progression. You can tell that their music changed naturally over those years, and I think the next album will just progress further to be like AI, but different. |
hopefully the media doesnt kill it like they did w/ AI.
It went a couple of miles from Warning to AI, though. not so gradual. |
I'd love it to sound like Nimrod. that album owns hard.
|

It was a different actor, however Clarice was shot but did not die. Im going to make a Hannibal thread in the media center, so more discussion can be made :) |
okay just wondering because she didn't show up in red dragon. Ill be on it...
dude oz you own! I love nimrod the same as dookie! |

dont crush my hopes deadbolt.
I wonder if Gd likes being in the spotlight? Its kind of like $ vs. reputation... |
Haha, what hope is there?
|
Some!!!!!!!!!!! Little!!!!!!! None!!!!!!
|

/film fanatic
Ah right. Well it was crap. :thumb: |
Never seen it...
I reckon Green Day are probably loving the fame. I would be. Who said I own? Its so true. |
You own me.
Of course Green Day are loving it. They always look so happy in any interviews or anything off-stage I see them in. I know I'd love it, I'm not so hXc that I forget that having money is really cool. They got sick of being poor and "underground" is what I always think, so fair play to them "selling out". |
I have no idea what the next album will sound like. I think it will have similarities to American Idiot, but won't be really that close. I think right now, they feel like they can do whatever they want.
As for selling out--yea, sort of, but not exactly. I mean Green Day are playing to huge crowds, but Green Day are still only taking rediculously small cuts. They try to keep prices low. If you compare what percentage Green Day takes with the percentage other bands (even Pearl Jam who fight so hard to keep tickets low) it's pretty amazing. I read somewhere that Billie Joe Armstrong takes home $10 when he plays a concert. I sure he has no expenses on tour, but $10? |
Green Day are cool that way. They made have "sold out" ir whatever. But they didn't change as people even when their bank account balances did.
Also, on this interview I saw, Billie Joe said he was definately staying with the political stuff. |
They were bound to get huge one day. And Mike also said they've broke out of the shadow of Dookie.
|
what does he mean by the shadow of dookie?
|
Big things cast big shadows. Dookie was a big album.
Essentially they were known for Dookie being an awesome album for years, they wanted to be known for other albums too. |
oh ok, yeah I see now. that's pretty cool. They are definately known for American idiot, alot of kids probably haven't heard of Dookie.
|
Greenday Played a Bigger Venue on the international superhits tour then they did the AI tour around here.
So its not like they where relay unknown and just appeared on the scene, they have always been big. |

I was wondering that. I don't feel like asking people because I hate music snobs. But they should really go back and listen to Green Day's older stuff. Part of the reason why American Idiot was able to become so huge was because of the reputation Green Day built from their earlier stuff, though. So I think at least some of the fans like their older stuff. The people who don't will probably drop off the Green Day band wagon at some point. |

Because the MEN arena is the largest indoor arena in Europe, so I don't know where they would have played in Manchester that was bigger. And they played two nights at the MEN arena on their last UK tour too. |
