Well since they're a bluegrass revivalist band you should check out some of the originals of the genre like Bill Monroe, The Dillards, The Stanley Brothers, Flatt & Scruggs and the Foggy Mountain Boys, The Kentucky Colonels etc. |
I'll check those out. Thanks.

I recommend The Legend of Johnny Cash CD that came out this year for beginners. It's an amazing and comprehensive greatest hits album spanning from his beginnings to his death. Also The Essnetial Johnny Cash 2 CD is quite good. If you want actual albums that aren't greatest hits I recommend With His Hot and Blue Guitar, Storytellers with Willie Nelson, American IV: The Man Comes Around, Carryin' On with June and John I have all this stuff on soulseek as well. |

I AM THE SKA BOSS YOU SILLY! |
I want something that sounds like teenagers who can't play their instruments but are so furious and emotional that they make great music.

Wasn't he considered a Rockabilly musician in his early years? |

He auditioned for Sun Records as a gospel musician, was market as a rockabilly musician along with Elvis and Jerry Lee Lewis, but was also considered a country musician. He goes back and forth between the rockabilly and country genres even up to his final album. |
I can't believe my luck! My mom's friend just brought over an Essential Johnny Cash three disc set.

The three disc box set is marvelous. When I was first getting into Cash, I listened to the entire thing in one sitting, 3 hours of Cash. I was blown away. |
There's some cool pictures in the booklet thing, like the one of him, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Elvis.

Does anyone have any recommendations for any really good political music? I mean political music that is both intellectual and really passionate. Sort of like early Against Me! or something.
I can't put my finger quite on what I'm looking for, but I just blew a lot of money on music so I'm clean out. If anyone has anything they want to trade on AIM with me, I'd be more than happy to hit them back with a CD or two. My screen name is arsonmadeeasy. |
Erik Petersen/Mischief Brew definintely.
Two Gallants |

Type his name in google and search for Riot-Folk also, it's a label he's on. You can download the majority of his stuff for free. He's like Phil Ochs but if Phil Ochs was 20 years old now and not dead. |
