the melodies in follow the reaper (the song) and in six pounder (the solo) kik my arse! their keyboardist is what makes them so spectacular, as well of corse the guitars, drums and bass! :thumb:
|
i still cant determine if its a keyboard or guitar solo on some songs.....
yes COB is awsome JOIN THE HATE CREW |
COB is a really gifted band. Alexi and Janne work well together complementing eachothers parts on the keyboard and guitar. My fav songs would have to be Silent Night Bodom Night, Bed Of Razors, Hate Me, Towards Dead End, **** every COB song is good for me. The only thing i think is bad about COB is they butcher Iron Maiden songs, ex. ACES HIGH
|
They do awesome covers, dude! Hell, they do a lot of covers, too.
|
Yeah, their cover songs are great. I like Rebel Yell and Aces High..
|
well ive only heard a couple of there covers and I think aces high isnt all that great from them...the solos are great its just i prefer the maiden version better
|

yes COB is awsome JOIN THE HATE CREW
well it's easy to hear on the sound....if it's keyboard or guitar.... |
Such creative titles... :p
As long as the music's good, im still gonna buy it. Hell, im gonna buy it anyway, cause Bodom's a great band.
Well, song titles and lyrics have never been the band's strong point. Not a big deal to me, as I never really listen to what they're saying anyway. As you said, if the music's good that's all I need. |
Finally heard Thrashed, Lost, and Strung Out yesterday, and I must say, I really enjoyed it. The first track is now one of my favorite songs by CoB, but the Andrew W.K. cover was just stupid, if you ask me. Hearing Alexi Laiho say "Na na na" in songs just isn't what CoB is all about.
|
kissing the shadows is a pretty awesome song
|
I don't find one thing that this band does not awesome. They are SOOO good.

Fanboi

I don't think it's wrong for a band to have a little fun now and then. |

oh ffs |
their new album is finished and they have a tracklisting up at www.scythes-of-bodom.com Some of the songs sound retarded like "In Your Face" and "Punch Me I Bleed"? Yeah, punch me I bleed too. Anyways, there's one thats called "If you Want Peace Prepare For War" or something and it sounds pretty cool.
|
I just saw some COB while watching Headbanders Ball last Sat (don't ask me why i was watching that) and i got to see some COB, I forget which song it was but I think I've now picked up a taste for metal besides thrash. Can anyone in here send me some tracks or recmend a COB album to pick up?
|
Well, if it was on Headbanger's Ball it was probably something off of their Hate Crew Deathroll album, I'm guessing Sixpounder. However, their best album is Follow the Reaper. I'd upload tracks for you but I'm at work. But pick up either one, or any of their albums, as they are all good.
|
 I was listening to "Red Light in My Eyes pt I"...Jesus, Laiho's voice was god-awful back then...
|
They weren't that bad in general, but that song in particular was pretty piss, vocal wise.
|
Yeah, I actually kind of cringed. The music was awesome, but the vocals were off...

They may have had fun, but I sure didn't. :thumb: |

Well you're not on but I'll upload some for all the people around here. |
Is it pronounced like Children of Bottom. Or like Children of Boatom?
|
Q: How to pronounce Bodom?
A: The lake was originally named by the Swedish ("Bodom-träsk") when they ruled over Finland years ago. The Swedish pronounce Bodom like "Boo-dom" (American pronunciation) and the Finnish way to pronounce it is "bottom" (American pronunciation again). BUT the thing is that since it was named by the Swedish, the somewhat official way to pronounce it here is indeed Boo-dom but some Finns tend to use "bottom" anyway. To hear a robotic pronunciation, go to http://www.mikropuhe.com/demo.asp, write "buudom" (=Boo-dom) or "Bodom" (=bottom) in the empty field and hit "Kuuntele puhe".
Yeah.. |
i always though it was boh-dum
ah well, who cares, the band is far too awsome to be worring if you're saying their name right, as long as it kicks your ***, ya know? |
I say boh-dom
|
Children Of Buzum!
Not funny, eh? |
Is it pronounced like Children of Bottom. Or like Children of Boatom?
I have heard finnish people say [boodoom]. on aa interview with alexi on finnish TV..... they say children of boooodoom |
Yeah, he says it like that on the Toyko Warhearts album.
"Good evening Tokyo, We're Children of Bodom and we come from ****ing Finland!" |
but... since it's a swedish name ("The lake was originally named by the Swedish ("Bodom-träsk") when they ruled over Finland years ago." ) and I am swedish....so......I pwn!! just kidding. but in swedish it would be pronounced like [boodom] ........

When he speaks english he pronounces it boh-dum.
|
When he speaks english he pronounces it boh-dum.
Thats how i pronounce it. |
When he speaks english he pronounces it boh-dum.
nah... more like boh-dom |
Thats how i pronounce it.
I think that's the correct way to say it. Boh-dom just doesn't sound right. NP: Thrashed, Lost and Strungout by CoB |
I know it probably isn't correct, but I can't help saying it like "bottom" or "boddom". I'm trying to force myself to say it right though.
|
Whats a good heavy song to start out with these guys?
|
Needled 24/7, Black Widow, Red Light In My Eyes, Bodom After Midnight

Kissing The Shadows. Arguably their finest moment. (I think anyway) |
