Hell yeah, I knew that. But just because there's heavier stuff doesn't mean they're not heavy.

Lord Abortion 07-12-2005 02:40 AM

The cradle cover of hallowed is ideal for getting into the band. Me being such a maiden fanboy That's the first cradle song I heard, back in the non- internet days I bought lovecraft and witchhearts just to have that song, I then listened to the other stuff on there and went from there.

DavidFilth 07-12-2005 07:58 AM

The only gripe I have against Hallowed Be Thy Name (Cradle cover, not the actual Maiden song) is the excessive use of studio effects on Dani's voice. It's not really necessary, I listen to Live Bait for the Dead (their live album) and I really do prefer his natural voice to the studio-aided one on the album versions of the songs. Dani's shreiks and growls sound much harsher live, and it sounds so much more natural.......

Shadows Fall can be heavy as hell sometimes...like in the bridge portion of Destroyer Of Senses right before the solo.

Heeeeey...Cradle's cover of Hallowed Be Thy Name was my first Cradle song too, along with Her Ghost In The Fog. However, i thought HBTN was CoF's original... :upset:

DavidFilth 07-12-2005 09:06 AM

If you like HBTN, then you should listen to Lustmord and Wargasm off their Cruelty and The Beast album.....it's a VERY good song, brilliant writing by Dani, and Mr. Barker going insane on those double bass pedals, definately one of their epic songs!

Sweetness. I should register there today... :D

Shadows 07-12-2005 12:08 PM

It feels good to spread the awesomeness of Cradle to awaiting metalheads. a slight delay though - I have Midian uploaded but YSI gave me some crappy error message while doing Dusk. I'm doing it again, though. The HateCrew forum is small now, so any true Bodom fans are welcome.

Shadows 07-12-2005 12:56 PM

Update: The three said Cradle albums have been successfully uploaded on our HateCrew forum. Head on over there if you want. Let me know if you guys want any other CoF albums. In the mean time I'm going to start working on my Shadows Fall thread.

Sleeper 07-12-2005 04:10 PM

I just picked up Midian, I had most of the songs from that album on my computer. Its really great, My favorite by them.

Shadows 07-12-2005 11:19 PM

It was the first CoF album I ever had and it's still my favorite. Brutal yet gothic.

Huber 07-14-2005 08:00 PM

Thanks to the awesome poster above me (thanks a ton man), I now have 4 CoF albums. How many are there? I'd like to own the entire discogrphy. I like the kind of bands that have differences in almost every album they make.

Heh...thanks for the cool comments, dude. They have 9 albums right now, that is if you include the compilation and live album. Besides those 2 I have all 7 full-length original albums. I can upload the rest on the HateCrew forum if you like.

I know the three I uploaded...but what's the fourth one you have?

Huber 07-14-2005 08:03 PM

The fourth is ****ation and a Day.

And that'd be beyond awesome.

Shadows 07-14-2005 08:05 PM

No problem. I can have The Principle of Evil Made Flesh, Nymphetamine, and Bitter Suites to Succubi up later...it's getting late where I'm at so I'll get them for you tomarrow.

Could you give me a link, I couldnt find the uploads.

Sure, why not. I don't know if you're acquainted with our HateCrew forum but it's a completely different board. If you're a Children of Bodom fan than feel free to sign up.

It's a few pages back...page 3, I think.

Sleeper 07-14-2005 09:53 PM

Thanks alot :)

Huber 07-18-2005 05:31 PM

I'll bump with a question...

What's the concept behind ****ation and a Day?
I'll bump with a question...

Damnation and a Day is all of the events of the Bible being told from perspective of Satan. A very good concept if you ask me.

By the way Slip, did you still want those other Cradle albums? I forgot about them, but if you still want them, I'll be more than happy to upload them for you.

Thor 07-18-2005 07:35 PM

After listening to Nymphetamine last week a whole lot, I realized how great it is. Sure, it has a few tracks that arent so great, but most of it really appeals to me. I'm hooked on the song Nemesis at the moment.

Cool. I'll have them up tomarrow. I know I said that before, but I'll really do it this time.

Nemesis is Nymhetamine's best song.

Nemesis is a great song. That whole album is great. Is their older stuff as good as their newer stuff?

I heard Nymphetamine for the first time the other night. That was the first song I have heard by them. Are the others good?

Yes. For albums, the two I would STRONGLY reccommend would be The Principle of Evil Made Flesh and Midian.

If you don't want to get the full albums, then check out these songs:
Lord Abortion (Lord Abortion's favorite :thumb: )
The Forest Whispers My Name (Metal_Head_617's favorite)
Summer Dying Fast
Cthulu Dawn
Her Ghost In The Fog
Swansong for a Raven
Gilded Cunt
their older stuf is much, much better
Agreed, but Midian really impressed me.

Lord Abortion 07-19-2005 08:35 AM

I would also really reccomend cruelty and the beast, so many classic songs on there it's untrue!
the twisted nails of faith, beneath the howling stars, desire in violent overture, cruelty brought thee orchids, lustmord and wargasm, the bathory aria, all brilliant and some of their very best work

Taste_My_Scythe 07-20-2005 01:54 PM

warlock606 07-20-2005 03:08 PM

Beneath The Howling Stars is such a beastly song...he (Dani) hits some of the highest and lowest notes I've ever heard in a CoF song.
