I was driving around town today with Skid Row's Slave to the Grind album blaring, with my windows down of course, and came to a stoplight next to a car doing the exact same thing. We \m/'d each other and drove off. It was cool.

Giaeo 07-19-2005 03:51 PM

I like the Stooges, David Bowie, and New York Dolls a lot.

The best glam metal,is newer glam metal...

Backyard Babies,Shotgun Messiah,Zan Clan>Any 80's glam/hair band(excluding only Skid Row)

hethamulburton 07-19-2005 06:57 PM

What about Cinderela

cacophonyz 07-19-2005 07:00 PM
What about Cinderela
Beh Cinderella.I stupidly went to their concert about 2 weeks ago thinking maybe it would be fun. Before that, the lightest concert I'd ever been to was Slough Feg.Man did they suck.I've only heard their famous songs done in the studio, and they are only mediocre, but Kiefer(sp?)'s voice was atrocious live.Quiet Riot ruled though :thumb:

hethamulburton 07-19-2005 07:02 PM

You ever see Ratt?

cacophonyz 07-19-2005 07:07 PM
You ever see Ratt?
No but Stephen Pearcy is gonna be at the W.A.S.P. show I'm goin to in August. Not sure how good Pearcy's gonna be but W.A.S.P. should rule. Here's to hoping Blackie doesn't cancel, not show, throw a tantrum, threaten any engineer's life,and/or suck it up.

hethamulburton 07-19-2005 07:08 PM

W.A.S.P. is good, and I wish you luck on Blackie coming through.

cacophonyz 07-19-2005 07:14 PM

Unfortunately I'm probably gonna need it.

The threaten any engineers life thing is a true story.Earlier during this same tour he apparentally told some sound engineer from where they played in Colorado that he was gonna shoot him because he wasn't getting the right sound.

I just wish Metal Church was gonna be at my show, because I know they will be good.

hethamulburton 07-19-2005 07:15 PM

It sounds like they need more backup bands on that tour in case of something like that.

Metallifan85 07-19-2005 07:18 PM

W.A.S.P. + LA Guns @ The House of Blues in Mrytle Beach on July 27th

In case any of you are in the area.

hethamulburton 07-19-2005 07:19 PM

I can't remember is that in South Carolina or Florida?

cacophonyz 07-19-2005 07:19 PM

Well L.A. Guns is gonna be there too but I could really care less.I mean I will be there when they're on stage because I'm not into going to a concert late and missing opening bands,no matter who they are,but I'm pretty much there for W.A.S.P.I assume that Pearcy is gonna play Ratt songs(unless he's got solo albums I've never heard of) and if he does that shouldn't be too bad, because Ratt is pretty good, though I'm not sure who he's got for a band. But Metal Church would definately add some heaviness and reliability to the card because I have no idea what Pearcy's gonna sing,I don't like L.A. Guns, and Blackie is unpredictable.

cacophonyz 07-19-2005 07:20 PM

Yeah I'm goin August 20th.Gonna be here in the Dallas area.

Alot of bands didn't crap out, they just fell out of the mainstream (or is that what you meant? Sorry if it is). Many of the bands tried to change their style, namely Crue and Skid Row, but it didn't really work.

hethamulburton 07-23-2005 11:07 AM

They didn't crap out, the grunge scene kinda took over, and killed the fanbases of the hair bands, the basterds.

Haha yeah. Rock N Roll hasn't really recovered since then. However, things are brewing in London etc. Crue are selling out. A Rock N Roll revival is not far away.

Backyard Babies rocks! I don't know if they are glam metal thought. I think they are more like a rock n' roll/punk kinda band. Just ****ing slamming powerchords (not only powerchords ;) ).
Guess who's in with the london glam scene and apparently in a glam band

Has anyone heard a song...I have no idea what its called or who its by...it was sort of modern sounding glam, you know what I mean...and like...it was namedropping all different bands. The only lyric I can remember was something like "Guns N' Roses...Motley Crue...and SKID ROW RULE" or something like that. I also remember it mentioning Kickstart My Heart and Cherry Pie...

Any guesses what it was?
The song is Tuff - American Hairband

When Def Leppard Rocked and Skid Row Ruled

Metallifan85 07-31-2005 08:51 AM

Skid Row isn't the same without Bach

Mossy 07-31-2005 08:54 AM

Going to see them in just over a month, It'll still rock

slash89 08-02-2005 05:13 PM

Have anyone heard some of Wig Wam's songs? I think they are great!!! Teeny on guitar, and he shreds like mr. Malmsteen! Norway rocks!

Jon 08-18-2005 03:48 AM

So I'm back from the land of the flying Torah or whatever its called these days.

Anyway, glam clubbing tomorrow, I plan to go in leather jeans, leather jacket, converse, hairspray and possible t-shirt and underwear.

I love you.

Prince of Darkness 08-18-2005 08:02 AM

I just watched VH1's Rock on! hour. Glam Metal all the way. Whitesnake, Alice Cooper(Poisen!), Dokken, but most importantly, Yngwie. This man is insane. He swings the guitar around his neck. He does ALL the stances and he plays like a god. I love Yngwie.

CombatRock 08-18-2005 07:47 PM

Im seeing Ratt, Quiet Riot, Cinderella tomorrow night for free, im not a big fan of hair metal, or metal, but i get to go free. (my drummers dad owns the hall) It should be fun night.

Glitterati 08-19-2005 02:53 PM

I should post in here more often. I love glam rock.

T. Rex is one of my favorites.

Jon 08-21-2005 05:22 AM

*flashes Glam Platinum card*

So the other night I was in the toilets at a London glam club with Zion and Vikki from Spit Like This and Jez from Indigo Down. I was wearing a Cinderella shirt, Zion was wearing a sparkly KISS shirt and Jez was wearing a Warrant shirt. A guy walks in with a T.Rex shirt on and Zion's just like "yeahhhh duuudeee". He gives us a whole lecture on how great T.Rex are, then chokes me and Jez by the throat (lightly, he didn't mean to hurt us but he was drunk and coked up and was generally being a twat that night) and goes "those bands...nothing. KISS...nothing. T.Rex? They're a band".

Then he walked out of the room.

Anyway yeah, I love T.Rex. Probably my favourite glam rock band, after the Dolls. Maybe even better than the Dolls.

I like them both equally. Haven't heard much by T. Rex, though, just Bang A Gong.

Woah this thread is like an oasis in a R&M section full of ***OFFICIAL(INSERT RANDOM SHITTY BLACK METAL BAND)THREADS***, from what I've read this thread is pretty inclusive to general 'Rock N Roll' right?? Cool thread though guys :thumb:

To be honest, if its a good band that have enough balls to rock hard and party harder I'll let you talk about them in this thread.

I mean Backyard Babies aren't really glam, but they rock :)
My awesome Gold Against The Soul review
Looks like another great review, but I personally hate the Manic Street Preachers

Has anyone heard the new Zodiac Mindwarp album? I've heard great things about it.

Oh, and here's the band that there's a slight possibility I might be in soon

Well this thread gives me hope that some people do still like to rock and party then and that music doesnt have to be pretentious, it can just be FUN :thumb:

I have alot to learn about the proper rock 'n' roll bands around at the moment because it seems with not alot of people my age (16) being into it and the press not giving them alot of coverage you really have to research the scene.
I'm into stuff like some of the older bands you mentioned in the thread opener and stuff like AC/DC and Guns N Roses(I know not to discuss them here, to be honest I have nothing to discuss about them really). Im also really into bands like The Datsuns, The Mooney Suzuki, Modey Lemon etc but I was wondering if you guys could recommend me some bands to look out for? Cheers

Jon 08-22-2005 08:58 AM

I'm 16 too, but perfectly in with the London glam scene... I think you have to draw a line between hanging out with people your age and hanging out with people who are actually similar to you.

Anyway, old bands or new bands?

Old you have to check out Cinderella, Skid Row and Hanoi Rocks, newer maybe Backyard Babies, Babylon A.D., Loud N' Nasty, Crazy Lixx etc etc (to be honest I prefer the older stuff).

On the topic, there are plenty of bands who really don't like to go out and party for fear of damaging the next night's performance (I remember ZP bitching about Stratovarius wanting to be tucked up in bed by 11.30 if they had a gig the next night), but where's the fun in that?
