ill wish, and if they continue in the style of Vapor Trails, its gonna be bloody great! :D but then rush have the history of slightly changing style about every 2nd style, but still keep the things that make em rush(like geddy's casual octave "Sproing" pops..:p)

I used to have every album, and I kept them in a seperate CD case. But then I left it somewhere on a trip to Hawaii. Now all I have are their live albums. :upset:

well, the live albums is the real soul of rush... they dont get as emotional on the albums...

Yes, Rush is amazing live. They sound amazing in their studio recordings, but you havn't heard anything until you've heard their live stuff.

I love Rush and it really suprised me that there is such a huge fanbase here on the forums because, previous to joining this site, the most I'd ever heard about Rush was that my mum loves them and they were on the cover of classic rock one month. You never hear about them in lists of legendery bands or great albums or tracks which I feel is a great injustice as they are true legends.

Definitly. They weren't quite underatted in the 70s and 80s, but now the majority ignorant youth has forgotten them and pretty much sworn off progressive music completely.


I got [I]A Farewell To Kings[/I] a few days ago. Great album that contributed to power metal before it existed.

Any word on a new album from the Rush guys? I always assumed that "Feedback" was going to be a bit of a placeholder instead of an actual full-length release.

Lifeson had better solo on this next one dammit. :mad:

EDIT: I have to say, the episode "Rules are Rules" of "Al's Tiki Bar" on the Rush website is HYSTERICAL.

Feedback might have just been an attempt to make some money. I dunno, I really hope that they make another soon.

My Rush discography torrent is stuck at 99.74%. I'm quite angry.

No, Rush and metallica sound nothing like eachother. Their guitar solos and their acoustic guitar parts are a little similar, but that's about it.

I really hope I get to go to a Rush concert someday. Do you guys think that they will do another tour?

my drummer can play the entire drum solo by neil pert on the rush in rio dvd (minus the trumpet stuff) hes only 15 and been playin for 7 years

I sure hope so. But even if they don't I'm proud to say that I managed to see them at the Hartford Meadows in CT with 16th-row seats in a four-and-a-half-hour-long concert. :D

I think they might be comin round my town soon, not sure.

They definitly don't have the same song concepts or same style lyrics and nobody owes any other band for album art. metallica is either angry or sad and depressing, Rush writes about fantasy and intellectual topics, mostly. Anybody can see that Rush had little impact on Metallica.

Same thing happened to me. I was on ticketmaster, and I see the name Rush. I finally check them out, I love them, and the concert had already taken place :upset:

Listen to "Welcome Home" than listen to "Tom Sawyer" and try and tell me they didn't influence Tallica with part of that song.

I will personally say that "Tom Sawyer" didn't influence that song what-so-ever. Because, "Welcome Home" is a direct ripoff of the song "Rainbow Warriors" by Bleak house. It has the same acoustic passage and same style structure, not to mention James said they "borrowed" the stuff from an obscure band......it was only a matter of time before he was caught.

anyway....Rush rules, Metallica does not :p

I think they are all very good musicians but I don't like their songs.

Xanadu is a great song live, or studio.

The best song off "Exit: Stage Left" is "La Villa Strangiato." Lifeson just shreds the first solo.

oh yeah, the classicaly guitar intro is awesome. But I thought that song was off Hemispheres?

I was dissapointed when they didn't play that part during the Rio dvd, they skip about 20 seconds into it

on Rush in Rio you get this Great little Melodic Bass Intro, plenty of replacement enough for me :D

Xanadu is pretty cool. I got A farewell to kings a while ago and Xanadu or Closer To The Heart are my favorite on it.

"A Farewell to Kings" is probably my favorite song off that album. I'll give you that "Closer to the Heart" and "Xanadu" are better songs, but the chorus of the title track is more memorable than either, to me at least.
