Badmoon 12-19-2004 01:12 PM

^No, but who is to say Jam Band fans don't enjoy listening to them.

Jam2Me 12-19-2004 04:39 PM

I think Los Lonely Boys are pretty much a jam band, they're gonna be at Bonnaroo this year too (so will I :D)

Badmoon 12-19-2004 05:32 PM

Pretty much doesn't cut it. But yeah, I like them.

Jam2Me 12-20-2004 08:08 AM

Marroon 5 and Los Lonely Boys could've been sweet jam bands if they weren't so mainstream.

Badmoon 12-20-2004 07:06 PM

Maroon 5's influence lacks, and LLB aren't exactly known for constant touring, and too most are a bit to heavy.

Jam2Me 12-21-2004 02:56 PM

Hey everybody Panic just put up the 2005 tour dates.

http://widespreadpanic.com/ontour/tourdates/

I'll have to see them in NY since they're not coming to my state.

I saw them live this past year they have an excellent live show.

Jam2Me 12-21-2004 05:07 PM

Yeah, they could be better I think if they weren't so mainstream. They seem like they'd be pretty good live.

jpj 12-21-2004 06:08 PM

Of course, the closest Panic show is 2 hours away :(

Badmoon 12-21-2004 06:18 PM

I'm there!

Kingadamx 12-21-2004 07:20 PM

I'll be at the one in Philadelphia. :thumb:
i saw galactic, tony rice unit, gran torino and bela fleck & the flecktones back in the summer, greatest shows i've ver been to.
EDIT: forgot i saw yonder mountain string band too.
I saw the Bela flek show with Kellar and yonder mtn. string band here in Michigan! Great show! Some other good jam bands; Aquarium rescue unit, Umphrey's Mcgee, Galactic, Ozric Tentacles, GONG and Calling Marvin.

Badmoon 12-22-2004 09:54 AM

I hate Umphrey's McGee, byt Aquarium Rescue Unit is great.

He actually played a cover of Shakedown Street that was pretty good. The only other song that I recognized was Alligator Alley, I really didn't start listening to him that much until after I went to the show.

Grateful Undead starring Jerry 12-22-2004 12:48 PM

I bought my dad Jerry Garcia and Dave Grisman's collaboration Dark Grove. Will he like it?

Badmoon 12-22-2004 03:02 PM

Shady Grove?

jpj 12-22-2004 05:44 PM

Man, Medeski Martin & Wood is awesome. They're show on nugs is crazy.

BludgeonySteve 12-22-2004 06:21 PM

That one song badmoon sent me of theirs was awesome.

Jam2Me 12-22-2004 08:16 PM

I saw them live at Toad's it was pretty awesome, Top 15 probly.

I just noticed how this htread is not even a fraction of the classic rock thread in the other forum lol.

and MMW rock.

Jam2Me 12-23-2004 01:33 PM

Let's see today I bought Xmas presents for myself:
moe. - No Doy
Blues Traveler - Travelers & Thieves
Warren Zevon - Greatest Hits

I got a couple other Cds which I'm listening to now so I'll post in a couple days if I like the Cds.

And Badmoon I need your help, I was in the jam band section and I'm kinda new to Leftover Salmon and North Mississippi Allstars so which ones would you suggest by them?

Andrew Womble 12-23-2004 01:40 PM

i'd like to take this opportunity to get some jam/style council heads to answer my "Style Council" thread in the bass forums.

thanks.

p.s. - i read that The Jam supported the Conservative Party but the video for "Going Underground" has pictures of Margaret Thatcher and her Cabinet, followed by a nuclear explosion...talk about showing your support for a political party!

could someone please clear this up for me?

cheerz

Badmoon 12-23-2004 06:12 PM

^Well, that's a first.

Ep, have you heard that Tony Rice and Peter Rowan are playing at the Old Town School of Music in Evanston (I believe). During March 20th, costs $25.
And Badmoon I need your help, I was in the jam band section and I'm kinda new to Leftover Salmon and North Mississippi Allstars so which ones would you suggest by them?
Well, I am also slightly new to North Mississippi Allstars, but I have heard Shake Hands With Shorty and was very impressed. As far as Leftover Salmon goes, they are 100 times better live than recorded. So, it'd be best if you could find a live album, but the next best thing would be the album Euphoria.

And by the way, have each one of the album you just listed, and they are each fabulous. Nice picks. :thumb:

hey, are you from philly or around the area?

ShineOnYouCrazyDiamond 12-25-2004 09:27 AM

I just got a copy of the phish show from 7/25/92 in stowe, VT where santana and his band come out for YEM and funky bitch. It has to have some of the greatest jams I have ever heard in my life. Santana and Trey go back and forth as if it's a guitar battle. SO incredible. Has anyone else heard this show?

Kingadamx 12-25-2004 09:31 AM
hey, are you from philly or around the area?
I'm from South Jersey, about a half an hour from Atlantic City. So I live about 45 min away from Philly.

Cool. I'm from around there too. Are you going to the disco biscuits at the factory on the 29th and 30th?

Kingadamx 12-25-2004 09:48 AM

^Possibly, I didn't buy tickets yet though.

Jam2Me 12-28-2004 03:50 PM

I picked up Jack Johnson - On and On

I know some either hate him or like him but I like him...I think he has a cool sound and it's easy to mellow out with his music while enjoying it/not sleeping.

I also got Blind Melon - s/t it's a great CD I'm really enjoying it.

Tomorrow night I'll be seeing Assembly of Dust featuring Reid Genauer they're a jam band, not too too popular but maybe a couple of you have heard of them.
EDIT: I see they've jammed with Phil and Friends and other big names from their website so they must be pretty decent.

Badmoon 12-28-2004 03:56 PM

Great picks :thumb:

I like each. :)

jpj 12-28-2004 09:56 PM

 Mule is coming to Morgantown! Now all I have to do is talk my dad into it......

....... :( there's no hope

If anyone knows of any good concerts in the Pittsburgh area please tell me, I really don't want to have to wait until all the summer concerts.
