Bump because Motley Crue owned the fuck out of every other gig I've been to, put together
|
Glam metal gives a metal a bad name and bands like Guns and Roses, Def Lepard and Dokken should not be called metal
|
Im wondering why KISS hasn't been mentioned much. They are pretty much glam rock, and being this is the glam rock thread, im still wondering why the most influential rock band of all time hasn't been brought up much. Ya there new line up is filled with a bunch of ace and peter wannabes, but they own. They have such a bombastic show, but it couldn't even be as successful without good songs to back it up.
Doesn't matter though, cause people can like who they want. As many people who love and are obssessed with KISS, despise KISS too. But listen to Heaven's on Fire intro, and tell me Paul Stanley's voice isn't amazing. |

I don't really call GNR metal, but as for glam in general, you crossed the line. I am curious to know which bands that came before glam/hair (with the exception of Sabbath) that you would call metal. |
Someone her a few months back posted some songs and a video of Glam era Pantera.. I actually liked them. But as for the other glam bands.. I can't say I really care for, but some glam bands have songs with awesome kick balls solos.

Yeah good point. Some Metal, which you (Lets Kill God) may be a fan of, evolved from Glam, you shouldn't bash it without taking that into consideration. |
Bullet Boys, Skid Row and Saigon Kick are all good hair bands.
|
motley crue kicks.
but they're barely hair or glam they're more strait up metal |
Trash era? Why would discuss an era when someone is garbage?
ah superpeer, you're so witty :p anyway, i kinda like some hair metal. the power ballads are great. |
motley crue kicks.

I love hair metal! It rocks. I'm always blasting some hair metal as I'm cruising down the street on a Friday night.
|
Was the Bon Jovi reference intentional, or just an unfortunate irony?
You Give Love A Bad Name owns. |

I'm a big glam rock fan.
KISS, Motley Crue, Twisted Sister, Poison, Bon Jovi etc etc. It's all good. I also love heavier stuff like Metallica and Pantera but I have a soft spot for the 70s and 80s glam stuff too. Hey, it's all good ! :thumb: |

There's nothing wrong with being knowledgeable. |
holycrap thanks man, I thought I'd lost this thread to the depths of R&M forever :)
I finally downloaded Decline of Western Civilization Part II the other day. I need to track down some Seduce, London and Wet Cherri. Sleaze Roxx and Metal Sludge are of only vague use :( However it has reaffirmed my love of Faster Pussycat, which can only be a good thing. Its also the most inspiring film I've seen, the complete opposite to how Spheeris wanted it to look and also the opposite to how its generally perceived. Bring on the stadiums, coke, groupies and lawsuits :)
Im wondering why KISS hasn't been mentioned much. Iggy is my hero.

Skid Row vs Faster Pussycat
Skid Row vs Guns N' Roses Kix vs Cinderella Ratt vs Crue Bon Jovi vs Poison TTFL vs Out Of The Cellar Home Sweet Home vs You're All I Need Youth Gone Wild vs Wild Side |
Skid Row vs Guns N' Roses
Tough one, but i'd say Skid Row win by a small margin.
Youth Gone Wild vs Wild Side
Wild Side wins easily! |
My choices
FP Skid Row abstain Crue abstain TFFL abstain abstain I think Wild Side and Youth Gone Wild are very, very similar. |
I think Wild Side and Youth Gone Wild are very, very similar.
Ye I agree on that one! Wild Side is not as cheesy though. |

You're All I Need Youth Gone Wild, maybe just because I've heard Wildside so much. |
Too Fast For Love
|
i LOVE the crue....but why does motley crue get SOOO much cred among the glam people? it almost seems like what metallica has goin on....lol....(ps i do like metallica)
i think bands like dokken or whitesnake were WAAAAAY more talented and inventive... but im not trying to bash motley crue I love wild side, SOS and of course 'GLITTER' (crank the bass and its a beautiful song) ...... |
ya another thing that kinda bugs me bout Crue is tommy lees book he bashes on whitesnake, winger, warrant....
he tries to act as if motley wasnt glam and that those that are suck....GET OVER IT TOMMY :) |
