I think White Light, White Heat, White Trash is their worst. Not bad at all, just not as good as their others in my opinion.

RetiredAt21 07-20-2005 11:42 PM

Not even close to being as good as the others.

Faith No Doubt 07-21-2005 05:04 AM

Anyone heard Mike Ness' solo stuff?

It's pretty darn good.

skankinOstrich 07-21-2005 01:45 PM

I'm listening to all their songs on my computer right now, and lots of their songs open with guitar feedback and an even 8th note rhythm on the hi-hat. It makes it hard to tell the difference between songs at the start. oh well, I still love them.

To me it is sincerely one of the best
But I have to say I love all their album from Mommy Little Monster to Sex, Love and Rock'n'Roll

SactoUnited 07-21-2005 07:51 PM

Haven't seen you in a while.

Fabz 07-21-2005 08:51 PM

Yeap I know, I didn't post much in the last month.....

alkalinesk8er 07-22-2005 03:40 PM

They played with Tiger Army last year. Great show.

Music Nerd 07-22-2005 07:54 PM

Social Distortion are amazing. I love their earlier albums the most. Mike Ness is awesome. Their self titled album is my favorite.. I want to hear their cover of "Death and Glory" of the Clash but haven't got around to getting it. Someone should post it up.

Flagjacket 07-22-2005 07:59 PM

It's on the Lords Of Dogtown site, if that's still up.

Music Nerd 07-22-2005 08:25 PM

Thanks, the site is still up, but the song isen't. At least in their Radio Player.

Street_TraSSh 08-07-2005 03:46 PM
I hate them, even though everyone loves them.
They're coming to Europe now so I'll see them! And I'm looking forward too!

Their songs are very emotional and very powerfull. They are legends.

There is nothing more to say!

Has anybody heard Mike Ness with his band covering some country classics
on albums Under Influences and Cheating at solitaire? What do you think?

El_Shiznit 08-07-2005 07:44 PM

I listened to Cheating At Solitaire a few times this past week. My friend let me borrow it. Some of the songs on there are really good, and others are kind of average.

DryIce001 08-08-2005 12:39 AM

Social D friggin' rocks. Mike Ness has probably some of the best lyrics around. And like that guy up there said, their songs are very emotional and powerful. Before listening to Social Distortion, if anybody had ever told me that Country/Southern Rock could be blended with Punk Rock so geniusly, I would have kicked them in their shins.

pimpy the pirate 08-08-2005 08:59 AM

my favorites are White Light, White Heat, White Trash and Mommy's little monster. Their other ones are good, just too southern.

Lit 08-16-2005 02:06 AM

i'm going to see them at Lowlands

username77 08-16-2005 08:39 AM

I have Prison Bound, and I want Mommy's little Monster. Very good band.

Fabz 08-16-2005 08:49 AM

Prison Bound is my favorite album by them and also one of my all time favorite

dylweed 09-03-2005 10:44 AM

my favorite is definately somewhere between heaven and hell. mike ness's songwriting amazes me, the way he can write a perfect country song and rock with it. social d has a genuine sound that no one can ever recreate.

widzjnent 09-03-2005 01:16 PM

their new album is awesome! So are their two dvd's.

First the documentary 'Another State of Mind' (the song mike ness wrote on the tour). It's about social distortion and youth brigade touring through america in the summer of '82. Minor Threat also has a part in the film. The film isn't all about the bands, it's also about the people that go to punk shows. They got interviewd and it's really cool done. It gives a good impression of punk back in the day.
Their is a commentary on the film by mike ness, youth brigade and the directors. A good extra.

Then you have their live dvd in orange county which is nice too.

El_Shiznit 09-03-2005 02:04 PM

I have both of those as well.

streetpunx87 09-28-2005 02:42 PM

My friend kristen got me the mommy's little monster vinyl for my birthday its really good i love vinyls better then cd's .

streetpunx87 10-23-2005 09:07 PM

damn i havent been on here awhile.

Rise Me Up 10-23-2005 10:07 PM

I see them Friday.

DaveToopes 10-24-2005 07:13 PM

I saw them two weeks ago with Bullets and Octane, and the Dead Sixties. It was pretty boring until Social D got on, and then it was awesome.

Ghostfire3 10-24-2005 08:38 PM

Damn, I'm so mad that I missed them when they came to Chicago.

Fabz 10-24-2005 09:43 PM

I hope they will come back in Montreal next year

AndreTheHyena 10-25-2005 09:11 AM

I love them. Mike Ness' solo stuff is likewise brilliant, though you gotta take it with a grain of salt.

And their new album is probably my favorite. I don't think any of their other records is as over-all well-rounded or well-written.

Skidmark Steve 10-25-2005 04:37 PM

they good live?? there comming around here soon with the Dead 60's

DaveToopes 10-25-2005 04:40 PM
they good live?? there comming around here soon with the Dead 60's
They're awesome live, You might want to eat or something during the Dead 60's. They might have been alright, but it just wasn't the right mood for a Social D show.
