Hi, could anyone suggest a good sabian/zildjian match to the Paiste Signature Full crashes?
|
i'd say AA and A Zildjian Medium Crashes.
|
How Are The Paiste 18" Dry Dimensions Rides?
Could I Compare Them To The Sabian Hand Hammered Dry Ride?
Anyone? |
Any more adivce on the crash or ride? Might be headin to the store tonight.
Thanks EDIT: Went to the store tonight. Listend to some cymbals and ended up with an 17" medium crash, though i really liked the AXXplosion 17" as well. Also picked up the 20" AA rock ride, thank for the suggestion. They both sound awesome!
Nice choices man! 17" is like the greatest size for a crash. |
and 19" ;)
|
Odd sizes are the way to go, take note people.
|
I wanted to get a 17" medium AA, and it was listed at Musician's Friend, but not one store in my area had that in sizes, nor was any availble in back order.
|
Has anyone used the paiste 18" power crash? How does it sound? How would it sound with a full crash of the same suze. Oh they are both signature.
|
17" is like the greatest size for a crash.
my 17" a custom is my personal favorite of all time for now....I havent met a better for my playing yet. |
the eagles suck, you're gay
No they dont cause if they did they wont be where they are in the playoffs. stay on topic fool. |
Should the little sticker on the underside the the bell on sabian cymbals be removed?
Or does it not really matter? I ask as I was wondering if it would affect the natural vibrations of the cymbal at all. |
I remove mine, I just hate them there. I don't think it would make a difference either way, but everything will effect the cymbal's vibrations.
If you are going to take them off and you get one of those that leaves it's annoying residue behind, just use a little rubbing alcohol with your finger and you can usually get it all off. |
I've read descriptions & sound characteristics on Vintage K rides... I havent tried one myself.
Has anyone played any Old K ride before? How does it sound like? How would YOU describe the sound? how does it compare to today's K Constantinople rides (soundwise)?
Yes, I own one. It's very dark and warm. A bit of trash. A very full sound, not the greatest definition. The bell is clear and really opens up when you use the shaft of the stick. I would say today's K Constantinoples are a lot drier. Vintage Ks have beautiful overtones, but you won't always get the sound you want. Mine is far too washy for anything loud. |

Umm this will most definitely sound stupid :(... although with the rubbing alcohol on it business do you mean like a drip of wine or something or pure ethanol? Tom |
You buy it from a drug store, or friggin Wal-Mart. It says "Rubbing Alchohol"
|
Yeah, it's not the stuff that you drink, it's like a house-hold item.

Do you have to get the cymbal quick? coz you can always go back to the store with your 19" A Custom crash and try both crashes side by side. Pesonally i dont like Paiste's sound characteristics, so I wouldnt get the Full crash. Besides here in sydney Zildjian cymbals are cheaper than paistes' . It's better not to rush when you're getting a cymbal since a lot of money will be spent and it's too much hassle when you actually dont really like the cymbal that much (once you played it on gigs or your practice room at home). If I were you I would check out :- 17" A Custom Crash 18" A Custom Crash 17" A Custom Projection Crash 18" A Custom Projection Crash 17" K Dark Crash Thin (Brilliant) |
I agree with u on that one...I mean the 20" full crash sounds okay i guess but the paiste rude series are the ones i appreciate most out of all the paiste modles. and paistes are pretty ****ing expensive cause one of those full crashes sell for almost $400!! might as well get two 18"a custom medium crashes(new models!!!love there sound) |

ok, heres how i see it. if you have to order it in from the shop in the first place, you might as well get it from the internet and save some money. i know the cymbal testing sound clips arent accurate completely, but they do give a general feel for the overall character of the cymbal (attack, sustain, wash, chick etc..) but the pitch will be somewhat of a surprise. |
what do ya mean save money theres shipping and handling but I don't noe about the store ur getting it from but the store where the drum stuff i want doesn't charge ppl for special ordering stuff... |
I'm looking to buy a china and a splash. I want to play with something different on my kit.
So, I want a splash wich got a fast decay and not too bright. And a china that is not too loud and produce a great washy sound. and I want that two cymbals to cut trough the music. if that's possible... any suggestion? edit : and I got a buget around 130-150$ CND for each cymbal. Seeying that a good splash is like 100$ it gives me more money for a china. |
as far as splashes go , could could try an 8 or 10 " k custom...i have the 8 and it sounds just like that, fast decay and not really bright ...but i doubt think the term cutting describes it...so maybe the 10 would be better....as far as a china, id say go wuhan, 12" its def not too loud but cuts through just fine.
|
Ive got some Paiste 802 14" Hats for sale if anybody is interested.+
|
I have mostly z customs with a k splash what would be some hi hats that would compliment these also maybe a ride to replace my z custom power ride.
|
It depends what your looking for in sound...for a ride if you want a nice loud ping with little wash and a really loud bell try the aax metal ride, if instead you want a lot of wash and a really nice more blended bell sound try HH raw bell dry ride. instead of telling us what your replacing, tell us the sound you want for your new cymbal.
|
Ok I still want a ride with a loud bell but with less wash. And for hi hats i want them to have a warm sound with a bright chick that will cutt through.
|
I'm looking for a Splash cymbal, but I'm not sure how to describe the sound I'm looking for.
I don't want a really overbearing sound from the cymbal, just a little punctuation for a few places. Something relatively washy for a Splash I guess. Sorry really can't describe sound well. |
Splashes are so hard to describe, 'cause they're so similar in sounds to me. I don't even have one so I can't really recomend one to try out.
