This is stupid. There is a pit for this. What the **** is this new swarm of "The ____ Thread" and "Official" threads. Seriously, some are good ideas and make things alot more convinient but this is just getting stupid. Guitar oriented stuff goes guitar forum. If you want to ramble about **** take it to the pit.

Stickying this is even dumber. The page is full of stickys as it as and adding this one will just be stupid. If noobs can't even figure out how to go to a FORUM for this stuff, how will they learn to use a designated thread. Anyways, I'd rather bitch to some noob every so often taking up space on the boards then have this contant useless thread just sitting there, wasting space, while other relevant threads get pushed to the 2nd page. PIT!

The Pit doesn't manage discussion any more. It's just constant upstaging, attempted pwning, unoriginal joking and plain, all-out flaming. And if you some random user determines your thread isn't interesting enough, it gets "[color=red]HIJACKED! HIJACKED! HIJACKED![/color]".

The Pit has no sense of community, friendship/fellowship, or even fun any more. So the regulars of other forums have to make do with what they can; an official thread for discussion. Check out Punk's Community Thread, or Pop-Punk's Discussion Thread. Alt/Indie is less obvious, but the same concept is disguised in the Expanding Your Horizons or What I've Been Digging.. stickies. Even the Admin forum has occasional bursts of conversation. R&M has just been slow to catch on; a thread like this is needed.

Maybe so, but at least the mods in R&M (especially Superpeer, I would think) are more likely to pay attention and try to stop it, on a more regular basis.

My band is writing and recording songs right now, and it sucks school is starting because I'm spending most of my time in the studio.

Are any of you guys at uni? I managed to squeeze out a pass in Zoology, suprisingly. A pass is good, as this is a subject which has a failure rate of 55% (at JCU at least), due to the fact the lecturer actually deducts marks for incorrect answers. So it's possible to get -20 or so on you exam, (my friend got -5, and an e-mail saying "birds are avis, not ovaries"). He wasn't too happy about it. Anyways, any other uni/college horror stories. :p

I'm not at uni, but I found that message to be pretty humorous. :lol:

Yeah. Plus all of the random talk is condenced into one thread. I also like to think that the regular rock and metal posters are a little less stupid than people who only post in the pit.

There's nothing wrong with 'good' flaming, some people just go overboard and insult people who don't really deserve it. The pit mods seem to be less strict now that the likes of litnin have disapeared... I don't think that this is a good thing.

Litnin took part in just as much flaming as anyone else. He would also trick people into getting banned by making spam threads and banning everyone who posted in them. He's not exactly a shining example of a mod.

well ill start by sayn abit bout myself- im a 15yr old female from perth (western australia) my fav bands are APC tool manson placebo radiohead and the smashing pumpkins ,but i do like alot of stuff. i love to paint and draw, i dunno wat to say really, i am currently listening to 'pyramid song' by radiohead -i love som radiohead stuff.------so were are some of u guys from?------ well my reply thing is abit different to most of urs but oh well... bye for now :) -jaz-

Yeah, I know. A clever flame is a good thing to see, when it's called for rather than just in every thread, but unfortunately everyone thinks that, so the forum is not discussion with flaming as a sidetrack; it's just flaming upon flaming upon flaming, without any substance underneath, and so no point.

Anyway, my CDs still haven't arrived, which is annoying. I just hope I get them before Thursday (results day).

I ordered the first three books in the Dune series last week. So far books 2 and 3 have arrived, I'm just waiting on the first one.

I think book 1 is the only Dune book I have. My uncle just gave it to me though, I've never read it.

Where did you order them from that would send them in an order as cruel as that?

I ordered from Amazon.com. The third was the first to arrive, then the first one had shipping problems and my money was refunded, then the second one arrived and I re-ordered the first and now that one is on it's way.

Well there's 20 of them, all extreme metal. An online extreme metal store I like was having a kind of "the more you buy, the less you pay" summer sale, hence the ridiculous number.
