Yup... then South of Heaven, then Show No Mercy, then Haunting the Chapel, then Seasons, then the two live ones, then all the rest :P
My order would be: RIB, HA, HTC, SNM, 2 live ones, SitA, SoH, GHUA, the 2 really ****ty ones.

And as for my top 5:

Slayer - Reign in Blood
Dark Angel - Darkness Descends
Flotsam and Jetsam - Doomsday for the Deceiver
Death Angel - The Ultra-Violence
Metallica - Master of Puppets

In no particular order... And as for runners up, we got

Exodus - Bonded by Blood
Slayer - Hell Awaits
Metallica - Ride the Lightning
Testament - The New Order
Megadeth - Rust in Peace

They're all so good...

Surprise from Metallica

Am I the only one who was surprised that Metallica's shows over the summer were f*cking awesome! I didn't think that with St. Anger the shows would be good anymore, and the opening acts sucked. (besides Mudvayne)
Am I the only one perplexed by this? :amaze:

I never saw the shows, but when people told me they were awesome, I was very surprised.

sacrifice93.2 01-28-2004 01:57 PM

Just call me sacrifice, or if you prefer, my real name is Micah.

sacrifice93.2 01-28-2004 02:05 PM
hahah I think my avatar kinda suits the clan, like in Wayne's World 2:
Kim Basinger: "I'll put on some tunes, I know you love music"
Garth: *in weird bemused voice* "You got any Megadeth?"
Don't forget the line in Bill and Ted's Bogus Adventure.

Dude, if I don't get out of this, you can have my whole Megadeth collection.

LordDargon 01-28-2004 03:07 PM
Just call me sacrifice, or if you prefer, my real name is Micah.
Well the reason i did that, is you are probably gonna get banned soon. Then when you come back you'll be sacrifice94.2, but you'll still be The Sacrifice Dude! :thumb:

And as to your other post, isn't it Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure? The one where the are like in medevil times, and the king goes "Put them in the Iron Maiden!" And they go "Iron Maiden! Excellent!" and they do a guitar peice...

LordDargon 01-28-2004 07:42 PM

Death Angel - Evil Priest is an amazing thrasher. It has this awesome groove around a distorted bass riff right in the middle.. has anyone else heard this song? What do you think of it? I can't understand how this band didn't get more popular. It should at least be on par with Exodus and Testament, if not slayer and the likes.

linkinpark1987 01-28-2004 08:34 PM

I'll take Bonded By Blood, I changed my name to it a while ago but I didn't even think about telling you guys in here so I'm thankful nobody took it.

JMetallica 01-28-2004 10:46 PM

:D

I was Definately surprised, although, they are still too long. And at the concerts I was either sitting down or looking at the ground 2/3s of the way through those St Anger songs they played.

Better, but still not metallica.

metdrummer 01-29-2004 02:34 AM

They ****ing rock at playing good live shows man...

JMetallica 01-29-2004 04:16 AM

Oh, I agree, except not even 'tallica in the live environment can fully save the St Anger songs.... :(

k'! 01-29-2004 04:21 AM

^ ^ ^

I totally think they can and I put St Anger songs on par with Battery and Fight Fire with Fire when performed live

Anyways, I just bought the Best of Testament, and this quote in the booklet interested me. "Testament didn't invent Thrash. Judas Priest, Motorhead, Venom, Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer, Exodues and Megadeth did (and roughly in that order). That sound about right or are some songs out of order?

xtreme_skatah 01-29-2004 04:37 AM

Titans of Thrash(RTL)

JMetallica 01-29-2004 04:42 AM

Thats very good of Testament to say that! As it is totally true, although, I think the Order would be basically: Judas Priest, Motorhead, Venom, OVERKILL, Exodus, Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer, and Megadeth.

Exodus or Overkill are arguable the first pure thrash bands.

Jondur 01-29-2004 04:55 AM

I'd say the missing link is: Judas Priest, Motorhead, DISCHARGE, Venom etc

metdrummer 01-29-2004 05:02 AM

Ive, to be honest, (as much as i LOVE thrash) never heard anything by Venom, Discharge and Exodus...

Jondur 01-29-2004 05:08 AM

 Go and buy Venom "Black Metal", Discharge "Hear Nothing, Say Nothing" and Exodus "bonded by Blood" NOW!!!

JMetallica 01-29-2004 05:49 AM

Are Dischare even considered Metal? Let alone thrash? ... I know ofcourse they had a huge influence on the whole of the thrash scene, probably just as much as JP or MH, but they were punk, no?

Jondur 01-29-2004 06:03 AM

They were indeed punk but have a listen. Sounds like fast songs with lots of chugging on the E string - they practically invented the thrash riff! Songs about Nuclear war? Agressive vocals? They're all there!

Motorhead were as punk as they were metal anyway and thrash owes a huge debt to punk. I think every thrasher should check out bands like Discharge and DRI

LordDargon 01-29-2004 06:13 AM
I'll take Bonded By Blood, I changed my name to it a while ago but I didn't even think about telling you guys in here so I'm thankful nobody took it.
This guy has linkin park in his name  Are you guys gonna let him in?

JMetallica 01-29-2004 06:18 AM

Oh yes, I don't disagree.

Thrash = Punk + Heavy Metal ... all taken to the next logical step, atleast that is my understanding.

JMetallica 01-29-2004 06:20 AM

And who cares, I don't think there are any rules for joining :( , except you just have to like thrash :)

LordDargon 01-29-2004 06:22 AM

Anthrax seems to be more punk-ish thrash.

JMetallica 01-29-2004 06:33 AM

yeah, they seemed to have delved into the punk side of things, (compared to californian bands of the same time)kind of like Nuclear Assault and bands from that NY area.

Check out Stormtroopers of Death.

LordDargon 01-29-2004 06:35 AM

Yah I know about SOD, good old SOD...

What is this coroner band... I must admit I've never heard them :o

What is a good, fast song by them?

Steve DeBerg 01-29-2004 08:04 AM

I dig some thrash, but I'm not into joining clans. I'm a free agent. Wooo
Metallica covered quite a few punk songs didn't they? Punk songs can easily be arranged so they are thrash I think. Well, some songs. I don't know how many people covered Last Caress, even NoFX did.

LordDargon 01-29-2004 08:38 AM

Also, how about Possessed. Most people say they are death metal but it just sounds like thrash to me.

yeah they did cover some punk and post punk. Very true it is easy to arange punk songs so they are thrash, I did it with The Kids Aren't All Right.

Slayer is the same way for me.
