too late

I feel bad he's so far behind though

lunch998 05-08-2005 08:01 PM

I went with Clapton, because Gilmour didn't need any votes and Hendrix had strong fanboy support. Maybe Beck>Clapton, but I don't think Clapton should be losing as bad as he is.

Lawl. I voted Beck, but now I regret it :(.

Against Miik! 05-08-2005 08:39 PM

Has anybody heard any Country Joe songs besides the Fixin to Die Rag or whatever it's called? He has some other songs that are quite good. I recommend "Kiss My Ass" and "Death Sound Blues".

Yeah I've got a few of their songs on my comp. I don't know a lot about them, so I just downloaded random songs. None of them are as good as Fixin to Die Rag. I'll look into the ones you suggested. Thanks!
No. I feel bad for Clapton.
Feel bad for Beck I mean he's the most talented of all the guitarists and he's still in 4th.

blue3 05-08-2005 11:17 PM

At least he's not in last place.. like Clapton

thickasabrick 05-08-2005 11:25 PM

What are some songs by Beck that could give me a decent impression of his skill?

Glitterati 05-08-2005 11:32 PM

Allright guys, I'm going to go to sleep in about half an hour. Tomorrow, when I get home from school, I'll try to remember to put Freak Out! on DBoon's thread.

Just look in D'Boon's thread for some Beck but if you want to get an album get Blow by Blow. Trust me you won't regret it. :thumb:

Awesome. I actually have Wired on vinyl, unfortunately I haven't gotten around to listening to it (sorry if that is offensive to you). I've got a long list of albums I'm supposed to listen to.

Glitterati 05-08-2005 11:55 PM

Well, goodnight, all. I shall do my best to remember to send that Zappa album up tomorrow afternoon, but for now, keep on rockin' in the free world.

Blow By Blow is a masterpiece album, I scored the CD for $7.99 and didn't stop listening to it for a while. The guitar virtuosity of Beck is second to none. Buy this album.

clown_phobia 05-09-2005 02:28 AM

well its great that so many classic rock guitarists are in the final.

I voted for gilmour, he seems to blow the rest away

Yes it is.

Technically? He may be the worst.

lunch998 05-09-2005 03:50 PM
/voted Hendrix.
I didn't mean to say that everyone who voted for him was a fanboy.

Johnny B. Good 05-09-2005 04:22 PM

I have no idea how gilmour is winning, he's a good guitarist and sounds great, but i just dont think he can compare to the others who were innovators of rock and some of the best guitarists ever

Distant Echoes 05-09-2005 04:28 PM

I only voted gilmour because i dont think Hendrix should get credit as the best, though he is my favorite. And though i brought Page all the way, i wouldnt have voted him either. My real standing wouldve been like

1)Clapton
2)Page
3)Hendrix
4)Gilmour
5)Beck

But im somewhat satisfied with the final 5 to say the least

Glitterati 05-09-2005 04:39 PM

Right, so I'm going to be putting up that Zappa album soon, for those who want it.

MalcolmYoungRock 05-09-2005 04:43 PM

I should post this in the Beatles thread but I don't care.

I just got All Things Must Pass.

I'm ripping it onto iTunes now.

he's probably better than Page, but definitely below the others. I can't speak for the others but I voted for him just because i enjoy his playing the most. I won't pretend that he is the most skilled, but I feel his playing just relaxes me and just enjoy listening to it.

I was also listening to Comfortably Numb at the time which may have skewed my opinion. ;)

Seriously?

*raises hand*

thickasabrick 05-09-2005 05:36 PM

I think Gilmour is the most melodic guitar on the list, maybe not the fastest, or the most inventive, and his solo albums weren't that special....he's still one of my favourite guitarists. (unfortunately for him...Hendrix was also in the poll).

You'll love it, "What is Life" is so good it might blow your head up... just to let you know

jpj 05-09-2005 05:54 PM

All Things Must Pass is badass. I especially like the faster songs like Wah-Wah and Thanks for the Pepperoni.

He probably is better than Page; his compositions are at least, IMO.

jpj 05-09-2005 06:22 PM

He is definitely better compositionally, but Page is better technically, which I don't think matters as much.

Broken Arrow 05-09-2005 06:44 PM

I have All Things Must Pass on viynl and love it dearly.

I also have Wired and Rough and Ready(I think thats the name) by Jeff Beck on viynl but I've only listened to Wired so far.

Rough & Ready has kind of a Soul/Funk feel to it. But it's a good Beck album, one of my favorites.

I like the sounds of that.

So when is this album being posted?
