Six Foot Revolver 07-13-2005 03:45 AM
Seems like they didn't want the new guy to be the new center of the band. I'm glad he didn't get in, so he could form Primus.
This is true which is why the got Jason because lets face it he isn't the best bassist ever
I've never listened to Primus :P
Go and buy/download Sailing the Seas of Cheese right now :thumb:
HAHAHA, James had a horrible voice. But I'm pretty sure no one cared durring the concert. His voice is much better now.
I think he only sang like that for Metal Militia.

Endless Obsession 07-13-2005 11:21 AM
I asked the question yesterday and nobody answered :upset: So can someone please tell me??
I would assume so because at the end he says "thanks pepp".

hethamulburton 07-13-2005 11:31 AM
I think he only sang like that for Metal Militia.
He used a voice thing that gave his voice more distortion to record all the albums. That's why his voice sounds way different live and on St. Anger, as you can tell. He didn't use it live or on St. Anger.

Huber 07-13-2005 11:33 AM
I think he only sang like that for Metal Militia.
I agree. Even the screams in that song were louder and more profound, even so in the studio version. He was probably trying to hard.

Joe 07-13-2005 11:36 AM
Yeah but I like the four horsemen better because of that riff at about 2:35-3:00. That is the coolest riff I've ever heard in my life...from metallica.
I watched the Live Sh*t version of that for the first time and it was pretty awesome. they didn't play the first solo but otherwise it rocked

Yea, his voice live is less raspy and higher pitched. the album is a lot different

hethamulburton 07-13-2005 11:38 AM

I think Jason used it too, when he put it back up vocals. Notlive of course.

FlyingPaul_83 07-13-2005 11:50 AM

Yeah in sandiego how lars runs from one drumset to another, thats really cool. It sucks that they din't play the whole song though. I like the solo that they never play. :(

lilmetallica 07-13-2005 12:02 PM

Oh my god on ride the lightning live from the unamed feeling EP james forgets the words its histerical then when he remembers hes like oh there they are it was just on the all metallica radio station...

\m/Pete\m/ 07-13-2005 12:09 PM
Les Claypool did try out for Metallica after Cliff died and they did have a problem with him being too good. But he actually changed his mind because James was drunk at his audition and kept on being an *** to him because he was better. Check this vid out of james singing, he really sucked back then.

only yahoo users can view this video
Actually, they had told he was too good with his own style and that it wouldnt fit in. Thats what I can recall

hethamulburton 07-13-2005 12:10 PM

Was he trashed when it happened? I know... prob a stupid question.

Jev 07-13-2005 12:16 PM

Most probably don't forget these guys were nicknamed Alcoholica for their drinking habits.

hethamulburton 07-13-2005 12:18 PM

I know... but there were sometimes they were sober. Like uhhhhhhhhhhhh... well... I'm sure it happened sometime.

lionelhutz88 07-13-2005 12:19 PM

I think James' best vocals definitely were on AJFA. Agree? Disagree??

Jev 07-13-2005 12:20 PM

Maybe during a couple of band practice sessions.

Britton 07-13-2005 12:47 PM

His Best vocals are on S&M

But I love ajfa

Endless Obsession 07-13-2005 01:03 PM
I think James' best vocals definitely were on AJFA. Agree? Disagree??
Yeah definitly. Then Black Album after that.

Six Foot Revolver 07-13-2005 01:28 PM

:upset: I have lost all respect I once had for this thread. I know it is only a few of you but it is pitiful that some of you are cheating to get Cliff at the number one space.

PepsiMetal 07-13-2005 01:31 PM

The only people cheating are the retards that have no life and vote using multiple accounts. There go all the polls and obviously cliff wont even be 9th now they probably just wont count him and I dont blame them cause of that retard...

Bazarov 07-13-2005 01:33 PM

What happened with the Cliff votes? I'm going to the poll thread to check it out.

Six Foot Revolver 07-13-2005 01:33 PM

I think there is more than one retard though. Look at the people who have voted him and there are many with ppd 0.00001.

thetrooper 07-13-2005 01:35 PM

i think personally think james's vocals were great on justice, but i like kill, ride, puppets, and black album.

Bazarov 07-13-2005 01:38 PM

damn, there are lots of people out there that are willing to screw up the poll for Cliff.

Yes, I like James' vocals on AJFA, my least favorite with his vocals is Kill em' All just because he sounds like a whiney 16 year old, but I still like that album.

These people are what you callk fanboys. Fanboys also ruined the album competition but Heavy Riva discounted the obviously fake votes

I have another account, but I haven't been on it in ages. And besides, I didn't even vote for Cliff.
These people are what you callk fanboys. Fanboys also ruined the album competition but Heavy Riva discounted the obviously fake votes
Yes, and the guitar one too.

hethamulburton 07-13-2005 06:17 PM

I'm sure others have cheated for other bassists. I didn't even vote at all, cause I find Billy Sheehan to be the best bassist.

Huber 07-13-2005 07:25 PM
These people are what you callk fanboys. Fanboys also ruined the album competition but Heavy Riva discounted the obviously fake votes
The album one IMO was lame anyways. People literally voted for the Floyd album just because it was Pink Floyd. But if you look at sputnikmusic.com and see what's on top, it's Lateralus, because when you look at Lateralus and only Lateralus, and then DSOTM only, you rate them differently and as albums. Not just because a band is legendary or something.

But meh, that's over, and has been for awhile.

I doubt any of the intelligent posters in this thread, and in all of MX, would cheat the polls. They understand that it's wrong, and it's not even that big a deal who wins anyways. It's just something to look forward too, that next poll. Nothing more.

Taste_My_Scythe 07-13-2005 07:37 PM

One question just out of curiosity. What song is the Metallica cover song? For the thread cover comp?

Huber 07-13-2005 07:39 PM

Nothing done yet, but Nothing Else Matters is in the works.
