It's more that I dislike the process of collecting and storing DVD's more then anything, plus most of the films I deal with are extremely difficult to find copies of sometimes (maybe I can get that used disc off ebay for $70 giving some asshole beer money and supporting nobody, but meh).

Most commercial films are promoted to high hell, and their marketing teams are savvy enough to make a profit. Getting into independent productions and the like it might be harder for the people behind these to get some serious cash behind them, but it has always been that way and the vast majority of pirates don't give a **** about these films anyway.

Movies and music seem a transient experience to me, within it's short duration it's over. Gone. Kaput. You might return again, but it's just easy to move on to next one. With this you could download hundreds of films or albums a week, and I wouldn't consider all of these copies being shared around a lost profit as such if I would have never bought them anyway whether due to being broke as **** or not knowing any of the bands or films to begin with.

The same argument could offered for games of course, however these just eat up a ridiculous amount of time. I don't know how people could download every game under the sun and find the time to play them all, unless they are deathly serious about their enjoyment with the medium. It's probably worth $80 for 100+ hours spent in the latest GTA game, maybe not so for a game you don't like so much.

My moral compass is pointing towards offering some kind of level of support if I can at least, otherwise mass apathy about the situation will probably lead to a whole generation of "they'll find a way to deal with it" types who end up increasingly miffed at rising price tags and the lackluster quality of games by studios who can't afford to keep up with the high standards of the key players in the business.
