I think it is 10'00 days now.
I really do but then again I could be wrong. JUST BRING OUT THE ALBUM. |
Don't believe anything until you've got the record in your hands.
Yep. |
Those song names sound fake too. Rossetta Stoned? Lost Keys? wtf!
|
It's just like Systema Enchepale, people.
|
Those song names sound fake too. Rossetta Stoned? Lost Keys? wtf!
Yeah, that's what I thought. *sigh* I really wish that the members of Tool would stop getting such sadistic pleasure out of ****ing with everybody. |
^Heh, yeah, no kidding.
|
So guys, album title is out, its Tool - Hybrid Idea.
No seriously, it's on Toolband, go check. |
So guys, album title is out, its Tool - Hybrid Idea.
No seriously, it's on Toolband, go check.
Hah, yeah. Come on, guys. I mean. 10,000 Days? Rosetta Stoned? I doubt it. This may just be Systema Encephylae Part Deux. Just wait for the friggin' album! |
I was going through some Tool thread on another forum and I found an interesting post someone put up. This guy thinks that today's birthday post might be indirectly telling us that it's all a lie/joke.
"As per our (lengthy) conversation last night, without mentioning the actual name (and certainly not the correct time), having checked out a certain website*, I should tell you that I’ve been thinking about this for hours and still have not reached a decision (although I now have a clearer understanding of the situation and therefore shouldn’t ‘panic’ when it comes time to speak up)." *referring to the newly created fansite, 10,000-days.com
I don't know. He (like many others) might just be over analyzing this but I thought it was worth a mention anyway. |
Actually--and everyone in this thread should know I'm not an overanalyzer--that's how I interpreted that post as well. It's not like I studied it and read in between the lines, but that's just how I initially read it.
Interesting. |
I refuse to believe Tool would release an album with a title so crappy.
Friggin' hippies. |
Hybrid Idea? Ahem, I recall a certain rap metal/nu-metal record with a similar title...
|
Hybrid Idea? Ahem, I recall a certain rap metal/nu-metal record with a similar title...
Linkin Park or Limp Bizkit right? It has GOT to be a joke. All these titles suck.

Linkin Park. "Hybrid Theory".. |
hahahahahahaha
Listen to Necrophagist or Wormed and then tell me Metallica are "heavy". If I was interested in guitars(which I'm really not), then I would listen to John Petrucci or Joe Satriani, both of which can run Kirk and James around in circles on a guitar.
James wrote a song about suicide after having his equipment stolen. 'Nuff said. The Napster deal was ridiculous. Lars was in it for the money, and he shows it without restraint by suing fans that completely supported them and had bought all the previous albums, and just wanted to hear the single of their new cd early. But I guess Lars doesn't care about his fans. ----------------------------- So let's talk about them Academy Awards! I'm glad Brokeback didn't win, but I was sincerly hoping Goodnight and Goodluck would have one :( Oh well I guess beggars can't be choosers. Edit: Oh and TMV are great, for the record.
Metallica - 1)DT respect them enough to have dedicated an entire live set to the faithful reproduction of master of puppets. 2)If you judge works on their technical proficiency alone then you have completely missed the point of music. 3)Ok, Lars is a jerk...he loves money...are you trying to tell me that he is the only rock star alive that has those character traits? OSCARS Crash did not deserve best picture, I admire the premise and the boldness of the idea but it came across as idealistic preaching, far too much spoon feeding of the audience. I am glad PSH won for Capote, he is a great actor and that was a role that in the hands of a lessor actor could easily have come across as a bad impersonation. Felicity Huffman was robbed of best actress...ffs a women playing a man being a women, how is that not oscar material, and to be beaten by witherspoon in a fairly easy role really sucks. |
Linkin Park. "Hybrid Theory"..
They obviously have read all the "God I hope they don't turn Nu-Metal" fears and decided to play on them! Hehe. Tool were influenced by Melvins not only in their music, it seems. |

I hope thats the case that would be might funny all the pieces fit that their taking the piss out of nu metal any way 10,000 days and hybrid idea LOL... |
Now see you're not understanding my post.
If I was interested in guitars(which I'm really not)
Want to know my favorite bands? Here they are: Explosions in the Sky Muse Opeth Godspeed You! Black Emperor Wilco Sigur Ros Radiohead Dredg At The Drive-In Now not a single one of those save Opeth can claim any extreme technical proficiency, so don't go spouting off to me about missing the purpose of music please. I don't care that DT did a cover of Metallica, I didn't even say I liked them, just that John Petrucci could run circles around Kirk and James, and he can. Maybe not, but I'm not attacking the rock and roll industry, I'm attacking Metallica. |
To be fair though, John Petrucci can run circles around 99% of guitarists. So it's not really relevant, right?
Metallica has decent guitarists, who have come up with their share of decent riffs and solo's. People do like them for a reason, they're just not everyones cup of tea, and the fans obviously tend to overrate them because they are a damn popular metal band. Where are people getting this "Hybrid Idea" thing from? |
How long before the release of Lataralus was the title revealed?
|
This is a pretty interesting spring so far, Tool fans and RHCP fans are waiting for soon to be released albums, and Metallica is in the studio as we speak (who knows how that will turn out). This my freinds is History in the making.
|
...and Muse, Incubus and Radiohead?
Mastodon? EDIT: By the way, The "In case your interested..." post on Toolband was put back on by blair. |
Maiden, Pain Of Salvation?
|
exactly. THis year is gonna rock!(& Metal)
Metallica is in the studio as we speak (who knows how that will turn out).
I'll give you a hint: it'll start with an 'r' and end with a "EALLY ****ING BAD." |
Now see you're not understanding my post.

Maybe not, but I'm not attacking the rock and roll industry, I'm attacking Metallica.
Of course JP can run rings around Metallica technically, as can the rest of DT, but my point with the MOP cover performance is that DT are also indebted somewhat to the style Metallica helped develop (Im not saying they pioneered it, but they were a force in the shaping of metal in the 80s). Now I know DT arent strictly in the same style of metal as metallica were, but they do borrow some elements from that genre. |
Back now. It's a really ****ing good solid release.
First few tracks are much heavier guitar wise than lateralus. Staying on pretty straight grooves most of the time 6/4. Vocals are a lot more likened to APC stuff too. Then the whole album turns a bit spiritual and you get a lot of tabla and bongo work. HEAPS of intense build ups. Track 5 or 6 will be the single. Punchy. Catchy and has this awesome Vocal intro. THE LAST SONG IS THE BEST TOOL SONG EVER WRITTEN. Electronic drum kit and it's just the most epic thing i've heard. Looks like it's an end of April release and no name is confirmed yet.
Found this at toolnavy. this was posted by some dj in australia who attended a recent listening party. |
Hey guys. Some of you may remember my ambient track I posted a while back. Well, I finally got to recording some "real" songs. So I thought you might like to hear one. Theres gonna be a few changes made still. Im going to add Djembe to it, maybe some bongos. Hopefully I will release a cd within a few months.

I heard a similar thing from the guy who does 'Full Metal Racket' on Triple J, and whose name has escaped me for some reason. Andrew...Boag? Something. But he said it was really hard hitting, and much heavier overall thatn Lateralus. He also said that at the end of the listening, Maynard himself went over to the cd player and took out the cd and pocketed it before anyone else could go near it. Very protective. And apparently there is lots of Meshuggah influence, and the drumming is aboslutely spectacular. |
