ill have to check that out tomorrow, if my internets get hooked up.
I have my fingers crossed and everything  i started playing on some jackson flying Vs. I might just have to get one of those |
King V?
|
nah
it looked like RR swirl, but had real duncans in it. The floyd was licensed, but it was pretty damn good for crickets and what not. I was tracking an ebay auction yesterday of my current ibanez (rg 4ex qm1) and it went for 430.00 (about 100 more than i paid for it) I think im going to sell off 4 pedals, and that guitar, and either get an LTD laiho sig, or get some jackson. I want the petrucci sig, but im not sure i could snatch one up for that |
I was going to get a Laiho model too but I want this Finnish only model that's black with a yellow pinstripe. The bad thing is that the neck is rosewood (brown) so it doesn't match the body colour and it's got a liscenced FR. My Rg770 has a Edge Pro I think and I can work it with no trouble but I want to own an real FR to see if it's any different and to see if all these pussies that can't handle changing string on it are just talking crap.
But I'd rather have a custom Jackson RR with a green pinstripe like Roope used to own but that would = £££££££££££££££££££ |
it is rough at first. I had a C1-FR (schecter) that had an OFR. Those little black peices that hold the string in the bridge, yea, one shot up and hit me about 1/2 inch under my eye. It scared the fuk outta me
I love the upper fret access on V style guitars. And to think, i used to hate them |
I haven't actually played on a V so I wouldn't know how good the upper fret access is. :(
I've been asking people that own the Alexi sigs if you can reach the 24th fret easily and the answer is not really, even he looks like he struggles to get up there, but I think the Jacksons and the King V's would be better for that. I still want an Rg550 with an All Access neck, this one has the old 80's joint and I hate it. |
well, unfortunately the guitar i was playing was only 22 frets...
i was playing that intro to Glasgow Kiss - JP. That part where he posistions shift fast to the 22nd fret, pinky finger was mad easy. MAD easy. i was practicing a lot on the high frets last night. I have to seriously contort my hand into some weird arse posistion to play chromatics on frets 21-24 |
I must be the only person that doesn't actually know how to play Glasgow Kiss, I can't get into Petrucci. I'll look at the tab instead.
|
Me too, I appreciate his skill, but his song writing really lacks for me.
|
i don't know how to play much of it really. On my ibanez, its hard for some reason (action maybe)
on that jackson it was much easier to get it clean. People butcher the fuk out of that track, so i try not to repeat that mistake. |

Same with me and Silent Night Bodom Night, Kissing the Shadows, Hate Me etc I listened to that song and it kinda annoyed me. I do like a few Dream Theater songs though, I learnt Metropolis pt.1 |
Well, I would ask this in the guitar forum, but I think I would get better responses here lol.
I have this habit of starting with upstrokes when I need to do tremolo picking on one string. It is easier for me to hit all the notes in time and not skip notes. Do you guys think I should break this habit, or will it be fine? About the fret access on V's. My friend has an rr3 and the access is pretty good, but its only got 22 frets. |
well, most people have the habbit of favoring downstrokes way too much. I try not to favor any, but yea, im still working on that
I think im just gonna work on chops with the metronome, work on some rhythm, and just slowly chip away at those tracks im working on. I metronomed it hard core for 2 hours straight |
im gettin a King V, someone mentioned it before. replacing the hardware with gold hardware, might spray it all white, but leave the bevelled edges black. once i done that, i might just replace the pickups. maybe
|
i just asked this question in the Opeth thread, concerns Bodom aswell;
How do you pronounce 'Bodom'? Coz some of my friends pronounce it Boddom. I dont like that. Alexi calls is Bodom, not Boddom (start of passage the reaper, tokyo warhearts 'were children of bodom and we come from fukkin finland!') |
I pronounce it Bowdom
|
What she said. ^^
It's "bow" as in: http://www.ec-shopping.com/mall/c101/s25571/cookieimages/White%20Bow%20Red%20Plastic.JPG But Alexi calls them Children of Boo-dum. That's just his accent tho. |
whatever. i will read it tomorrow... just got home from work: its 3am; i had to stand for 4whole hours and had to sell a magazine which had a presentation in a museum... lol. at least i got some money ;)
nah, from the newest guitar one magazine.
thats not to say they haven't posted it on that forum mind you. Its 19 videos actually. Theres like 15 of petrucci, showing you how to play Under a Glass Moon solo, but honestly, the Gilbert videos interested much more
Hooolyy fuck, plz post JP video's and tabs too. |

That was pretty cool.
Petrucci > me |
I thought it sounded pretty bad actually. Pretty boring solo too. I like the wah solo in Lie.
|
oh my fukking god... petrucci is playing sloppy  that will change the guitar world scene forever... remember my words!!!
awful... even alexi laiho would be able to play this solo better than petrucci himself...or maybe he had a bad day/hangover/wasn't warmed up... |
Awful awful solo.
|
high speed away
|
What's wrong with it? sounds fine to me....
http://youtube.com/watch?v=e4VfBmN40no&mode=related&search= this ones pretty cool |
It's a crap solo, has no direction or interesting phrasing.
Feels like it was made up of stuf off the cutting room floor, that should have stayed there. |
At least I'm not the only one thinking that.
That Angra thing was ok, I liked that huge slide he did instead of using vibrato. Greg Howe does that alot too. |
petrucci, lol - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKMYeXkYcgs&mode=related&search=
btw, what is the song played at the start of that? chris broderick - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkpZ645ztl0 |
