O.K,
To those wanting to find out about Love, I found this little connection of links and general stuff. Love Biography (general profiles, with sound bites) In depth Love biography Discography, with downloadable sound clips. Love fan site. General information and goodies. That should keep you going for a bit, all in all they're a pretty impressive band, I think you'd like them a lot.
Here we are. |
Does anyone like "Love" ?
They're a brilliant classic rock band, sort of a mixture between the Doors and Led Zeppelin.
Here's the original post. Double Post. |
So, I finally got the Doors' self titled. Is the booklet supposed to be so empty and lame?
What do you mean by the booklet? Like the liner notes in the cd case? I have the record, and like most of my records, the original inner sleeve is missing and replaced by a blank one. My like liner notes that have more than just lyrics and who worked on the album...like on The Freewheelin Bob Dylan. It goes into detail about each song, how/when Dylan wrote it, his thoughts on it etc. It's quite fun to read while you're listening to the cd. |
No, it was acctually Jimmy.
Bruce Botnick was the producer.
What else did Bruce Botnick do? I think it might have been some/all of The Doors albums, but I could be wrong. Who do you guys think are the most important non-musicians in classic rock? Someone like Eddie Kramer or Mutt Lang comes to mind right away. And that guy who always worked with The Beatles. |
As far as the San Fran scene goes, Ginsburg, Ken Kesey, Neil Cassidy, Owsley Stanley, Jack Kerouac, etc...
|

Very True. Ferlinghetti (I always spell his name wrong) also made a pretty big impact on the Beat Poets and San Fran musicians/psychedelic musicians. |
Learn any of those Tony Rice songs yet?
I really like playing Manzanita. |

Goes with him ^ Some people think The 13th Floor Elevators were the first psychedellic band now I know that Badmoon you'll disagree. Why? |
Goes with him ^
Some people think The 13th Floor Elevators were the first psychedellic band now I know that Badmoon you'll disagree. Why?
That's a funny agreement, being that you don't like Anthem of the Sun, yet "That's it for the Other one" is about Cassidy. I'm glad you agree though. :) Well, it is easily debated that the Grateful Dead could be the first Psychedelic band, they had the right timing and the sound. They were playing it back when they were The Warlocks. But most tend to believe that The Byrds were the first. I will not fight that argument, because I simply do not have enough information on the Byrds. I'm also not going to argue against the 13th Floor Elevators, however I had heard they were influenced by the San Fran sound and that they came along at about 1965, which is too late. |
So I made a mix CD for my friends and they love it it has some Velvet Underground, Mellow, Animals, Syd Barrett, phish, Dead, Iron Butterfly, Strawberry Alarm Clock, Love, Yardbirds, QMS and the Zombies.
*Feels lucky to have friends that have such good taste |
Well I'm goin CD shoppin in about 30 minutes, and I need a real good classic rock bands greatest hits album. So what do you think is a good one to get, any band will do.

Here's to acting like you know the first thing about me. |
K rep+ to those who helped so far
Rep to you too. Chronicle is one of the best greatest hits albums ever. |
You've displayed your favorite bands before. And you aren't for much discussion on bands other than CCR, The Allmans and David Bowie in this thread.
|
Lawl. He neg-repped me.
I was only making a suggestion, Animosity. |

Those are three of the few bands that are discussed here. |
We discuss more.
|
The Grateful Dead, Quicksilver Messenger Service, and Gov't Mule.
|
And The Kinks. I have nothing against them but I haven't heard enough of them to discuss.

I just thought of Buffalo Springfield-Retrospective, it's one of the best greatest hits around IMO. |
