You guys didn't know of the Adventures of Tommy and Davy?

It was a waaaay old cartoon.

Jesus, I'm younger than most of you and I know it.

I don't think I've ever watched it...but I know of it.

What do you guys think of Peter Frampton? I've only heard a couple of his songs, but I generally liked what I heard. Anyone have any comments or suggestions for songs/albums?

Frampton Comes Alive, duh. It's very good.
Frampton Comes Alive, duh. It's very good.
I'll go check and see if I have it (sometime's I get lucky). I figured that's the one I should get...as it's the only Frampton album I've even heard of.

Thanks. Are you a Frampton fan?

edit- No I don't have it. I have quite a few albums with the word "Alive" in them...so I thought I'd check and see.

So I was uploading the video with YSI, and all of a sudden it just stopped working

EDIT: I am trying it again.

Fair enough. Yeah, I heard some songs of his on the radio and I was fairly impressed. One was pretty cool, at first I thought it was a Joe Walsh song though.

JonG 05-07-2005 12:40 PM

I have Frampton Comes Alive, it's pretty good. Don't really like him though.

Everyone stop what they are doing and listen to Ripple by the Grateful Dead. I'm sure you've all heard it many times, but some of you may have forgotten what a beautiful song it is.

Yes, especially when followed by "Brokedown Palace". :thumb:

Same as the all of the middle part of AB, just too slow/mellow/boring. I love the first 4 songs and Truckin', though.
Yes, especially when followed by "Brokedown Palace". :thumb:
Hey Badmoon there was someone in the Guitar forums who had heard a "bluegrass" song by Zakk Wylde (not sure if it's real bluegrass), and he was asking for places where he could learn some bluegrass songs. Everyone was telling him stuff by Buckethead (someone even mentioned Yngwie Malmsteen) and I told him to listen to some real bluegrass artists. Do you remember that site that you showed me that had all the bluegrass songs tabbed out that you can play along with? I figure he may as well learn bluegrass the right way.

Badmoon 05-07-2005 01:30 PM
Everyone was telling him stuff by Buckethead (someone even mentioned Yngwie Malmsteen)
Okay, that is nuts.

Once I'm on my other computer, I will post the URL's. Thanks for telling me :).

thickasabrick 05-07-2005 01:40 PM

And the only scale that was mentioned was the blues scale. I don't think anyone in the Guitar forums can tell blues from bluegrass. They listen to metal too much.

I think I'm just in a Grateful Dead mood today. St. Stephen is also a cool song. Which album is it from?

Aoxomoxoa, you should get it.

Ya I've been keeping my eye out for it at my record store. They never have it though. Maybe I will just buy the CD.

ATM 05-07-2005 01:51 PM

Okay, it didn't work again. If anyone really wants it, add me on AIM and I'll get it to you later tonight.

Hey Badmoon, could you possibly post some samples of Blue Cheer's Vincebes Eruptum?

MalcolmYoungRock 05-07-2005 01:59 PM

New Guitarist Poll.

Thanks for saving me the trouble.

Please do. All I have is "Summertime Blues" and I wish to gain more. :)

MalcolmYoungRock 05-07-2005 02:13 PM

So, to start conversation, who here likes Jackson Browne?

My dad has quite a few CD's by him, I just never checked them out yet.

Im really liking Beck's chances considering he's the only non-metal guitarist and if most of the Classic Rock fans pick him he'll most likely make it. :D

thickasabrick 05-07-2005 02:53 PM

Yeah that would be awesome if Beck won. I voted for him.

edit- I really like Tony Iommi too though, I wouldn't mind if he won either. I don't really view Iommi as a metal guitarist, I suppose he was...but I really just listen to the first few albums Sabbath put out. He's basically just playing really heavy blues and rock riffs.

robo2448 05-07-2005 03:14 PM

Kind of off-topic but I just bought Animals from itunes. I am 3 minutes into dogs. I literally just downloaded it 5 minutes ago. I like what I hear :thumb:.

Iommi is my biggest influence. I just love his mix of blues and rock.

TheDMV 05-07-2005 04:18 PM

Iommi was who I voted for in the original one but unfortunaltley he didn't make it. I would have voted for him again, but much to my chagrin, heh was in 3rd. Although I prefer him to Beck, I voted with Jeff because he is more talented than Iommi and more influential than the other two. Right now it looks like Beck is in good posistion to win so I'm happy.

Animals is a good album, despite being possibly my most un-favourite Pink Floyd album. How does itunes work?

TheDMV 05-07-2005 04:23 PM

iTunes is a site where you purchase music for your iPod from what I've gathered.

Badmoon 05-07-2005 04:24 PM

Anyone here (other than myself and P.F.) like the Minutemen?

Broken Arrow 05-07-2005 04:27 PM

Haven;t heard them.

Makes sense I suppose.

I've actually never heard the Minutemen (at least I don't think so). Any songs that I may recognize?
