Even though I don't really like ...AJFA, I think it's James' best vocal performance.
It just goes so well with the dark music, it's all about violence

Good ****.

W.M.A 11-29-2005 01:16 AM

i can listen to eye of the beholder up to the chorus which is just a mess. all the other songs are fantastic. i think of the pre black albums albums ...AJFA has aged the best. RTL especially sounds very 80's, mostly cos of escape.

chili peppers are gods 11-29-2005 01:22 AM

But one has gotta be one of there best full on guitar songs man

I thought the chorus to that was awesome.

Everyone has different tastes... I loved Ktulu and Orion but my friends hate them.

Jev 11-29-2005 01:46 AM

I love those 2 also. Both fun to play.

.:Thrasher:. 11-29-2005 01:56 AM
From AFJA my fav would have to be The Frayed Ends of Sanity. That's such a cool song IMO. The only songs i skip in that album are Eye of the Beholder, The shortest straw and To Live is to Die. Other wise AJFA is pure gold. No wait... Platinum.
Waaaaaaaa!!
You skiped Eye of the beholder. THATS A GREAT SONG AND SOME GREAT LYRICS TO GO WITH IT.
To live is to die well do you like intrumentals?(that song rules)pure gold:)

iluvkirkhammett 11-29-2005 01:57 AM

I'm just starting to learn Ktulu, it's a challenge.

Jev 11-29-2005 01:58 AM
I'm just starting to learn Ktulu, it's a challenge.
Yeah the opening bit's probably the hardest Metallica rhythm.

Most definantly. I recently mastered Fade to Black and then The Unforgiven.
I have audio of it. It wasn't on nov. 1 and 2, it was November 13th and 15th. I have the audio of the one on november 15th. I can reupload it tonight since I gotta go to class soon, but if you want, just leave your email and I'll get it to you tonight.
chrism3ister@hotmail.com send it here thanks man!also when i said 1st and 2nd i ment gig and not november but now that i saw it again it looks like november:lol: thanks again man

Huber 11-29-2005 08:52 AM
Do they have to be different chords (e.g. not all barre chords)?
When I play them I have to bar them, but yes, I think 6 different chords.

Sadbutrue16 11-29-2005 10:47 AM

you all should check this site out.... http://www.metallicaworld.co.uk/demos.htm

it has some good information that i never knew.

EDIT: Does anyone by chance have any of those bootlegs it shows on there?
I'm just starting to learn Ktulu, it's a challenge.
That's gonna be a challenge. Isn't the whole thing about 9 min long?

Jev 11-29-2005 12:09 PM
That's gonna be a challenge. Isn't the whole thing about 9 min long?
It's pretty repetitive though.

Aw3someman 11-29-2005 01:04 PM

The intro to call is actually easy when you get used to it. The second part with the sweep sounds awesome though. And if you can do Call you can do most of the rythmn for Hangar 18

MRDuCran 11-29-2005 01:25 PM

Yer, Ktulu is nowhere near Tallicas hardest rhythm.

Aw3someman 11-29-2005 01:31 PM

What is their hardest rhythmn in your opinion? I think it would have to be... that really fast part in One. Or And Justice for All. Just because it's soo fudging long.

MRDuCran 11-29-2005 01:48 PM

I have to say Dyers Eve fast riff, Battery main riff, Disposable Heroes open E bit, Master of Puppets main riff. They're not as hard as stuff like Racer Xbut they're not easy either, especially to get PERFECT, I'm definately a perfectionist when it comes to guitar playing.

I never fully got the Blackened main riff . I stopped trying a few months ago and never got back to it though..Same with the Dyers Eve fast riff..

MRDuCran 11-29-2005 02:36 PM

How could I forget Blackened, one of my favourite songs.

Aw3someman 11-29-2005 03:17 PM

Yeah i forgot the Master of Puppets riff. Damn that's hard

Most of the people who I know say they can do it dont play

0-1 ect but they play

1-1 or 0-0 .

Jev 11-29-2005 04:17 PM

I play it the correct way and at full speed
It's really not that difficult.

I used to play it wrong but after getting my MOP book I relearned it and can get it pretty damn close to normal speed.

Most people get caught up with the difficulty of MOP, but try learning Disposable Heroes or Leper Messiah. Those have some really freaky time signatures.

I'm fine with both those songs except for the solos.

Yeah it's harder than the MOP intro.

I love playing the sweeping part of LM. It sounds so good and is helping me get better at sweeping.

Hey I just got a crazy idea that might sound really good if it works. I want to try to harmonize that sweeping part in 3rds or 6ths just to find out how it sounds. Just gotta figure out the theory a bit...........:D

Kyle 11-29-2005 04:57 PM

what would be a challenging middle ground song to learn by Metallica, I can play Unforgiven, Motorbreath but not alot more metallica except riffs. Anyone help me out?

iluvkirkhammett 11-29-2005 05:00 PM

The solo from Ktulu is hard, but MOP is definantly harder. Then again I've only been playing for a little while, but nothing beats practising for at least 2 hours every single day.

I do 2 hours a day in my sleep :p

When I first started I was practicing (this is no bullsh*t) for 16 hours a day.

I purposely got on Independent study just so I would have more time for my guitar.

fatbandit 11-29-2005 05:20 PM

Bleh. I'm a bassist, and I play the 'spider' riff in MoP up to speed. I do it with fingers or pick, but with a pick, I don't strictly downpick... So I do it with alternate picking if I play it on guitar too.

Learnt No Leaf Clover on guitar the other day though. 'Tis lovely :)

I wouldn't mind learning that song along with Hero of the day.

I do have my occasional desire to play something other than thrash.:p

fatbandit 11-29-2005 05:34 PM

I love a lot of the slower Metallica songs.

There's a nice No Leaf Clover Guitar Pro file, with the orchestra in it. I think there's one wrong chord in it, but you'll spot it.

Hero of the Day is nice to play too. I only learnt the intro/verse riff on guitar. But I know the bass part... So I can probably figure the guitar part out for the rest, or at least od it by ear.

Well when my Pell grant comes in, in January, I can buy a computer of my own so that way I can enter into comps and use my guitar pro program.

I miss having my GP.:upset: I was able to get S&D down really well because of it. I love the ability to slow down the songs and get the the timing of it better.

That use to be my favorite Metallica solo. Back when I didnt play guitar.

Do you have to sweep pick it or you can also alternate it ?
