Yeah I'll take some RTL over Misfits anyday. Another thing that kind of was a bummer is that the San Diego Sports Arena has terrible sound quality. But whateve's, it was Metallica man.
the sound was average, some solos were a little faded. i don't know if you notice, but when Rob was playing his solo, the people were kind of confused, some part were cheering and the other was listening, but when he started to play the orion bass part, the whole arena explode into cheering. |
i got a recording of one of robs solo's (thanks channel 'v' {australian MTV})
it sounds pretty funky, but not very metallica like. looking forward to new album but. |

He was doing all sorts of crazy tapping and stuff. The sound quality wasn't great, but if you get the cd it's better. I just listened to the solo again, and they did Orion at the end. Cool... i didn't know they did that at the concert |
How much do they play of RTL these days anyway?
|
monkey and head are actually decent guitar players, they just don't show it. One is a pretty easy solo, actually. It just sounds hard.
So good they have to tape the strings down they don't use when they're recording to stop accidently hitting the wrong notes. Apart from that they're good at just playing bad live. Although the One cover was ok. |
Uh, that was Sum 41, not Korn as far as I know. Anyway. If they do that, so what? People use all sorts of tips and tricks to make themselves sound better on CD. Hell, half the CDs out there have session musicians playing on them, not the band...
They're not bad guitarists. I really hate people ragging on them for being Nu-Metal guitarists. I just hate Head for leaving and being a douche on account of God :) :smash: |
So what if Korn use tape to cover strings they don't play. Lars used a session musician on Metallica's early albums.
|
I don't like Korn, their songs are too different I guess, lots of breaks with weird guitar parts, but I didn't now that about Lars, I know though that James is just as good, if not better than Lars on drums.
See Live Sh!t Binge and Purge- for the drum session I'm talkin about. |
I don't like Korn much either. I heard that one of the reasons they stopped doing the drum duel thing was because James was getting better than Lars.
|
It is true, James kept up and even beat Lars with his "hardest" stuff. The thing is, is that James was trashed while doing it, and Lars was prob only mildly intoxicated, so he could "concentrate".
How much do they play of RTL these days anyway?
All of it, I saw it a few months back NP: To Live is To Die |
They play the entirety of the album? :amaze:
Anyway, anyone have a spare copy of Live Sh!t they want to send me? I'm in the UK, but I'll accept NTSC DVDs :) :smash: |
All of it, I saw it a few months back
NP: To Live is To Die
Are you talking about the song? Because I think vio-lence is talking about the whole album. |
Are you talking about the song? Because I think vio-lence is talking about the whole album.
Ah, ok well I saw Fight Fire With Fire, RTL, Fade to Black, Creeping Death, and that's it. It was a great concert |
When i saw them in 03 they played
Battery Horsemen RTL Sanitarium For Whom the Bell Tolls Frantic Sad but True Dirty Window Harvester of Sorrow MOP Fight Fire Seek and Destroy NEM Creeping Death One Enter Sandman Blitzkrieg Motorbreath which is half of RTL. |
How long were you there, at the concert?
|
Got there about 6:30, went in at 7:30 and came out at 11:30. It was great although i didn't like Godsmack that much.
|
Yea, all my friends thought they sucked, like they would poke some explicit fun at the crowd. they said they acted like a bunch of assholes. But they all loved Metallica.
|
I just thought they dragged on, they probably did take the píss out of the crowd but i was so bored during their set that i can't remember it. They did a drum duel like Metallica in Live Shít which was pretty cool.
|
I take it their normal drummer won, I hear he's really really good.
|
I honestly can't remember. I got the Metallica show on DVD so i wont forget that.
|
Ha anything for money, they'll do.
|

Hey Trooper. Most of the mods don't like when people double, or triple post. Use the edit next time. Then post after someone else has. Or you might get banned. Just thought I'd help. Try copying your last to posts then deleting them and editing your first post about your video and past it in there. But you don't have to.
As for concert stories, at my school there's this big lady, I mean she could be a professional football player. She's a secuirty campus lady, but at the San Diego Sports Arena she's a secuirity gaurd. And when Metallica played I saw her down on the floor, and some idiot jumped down from his seat and tried running into the crowd so he could get up to Metallica, she chased him down and tackled his ***. When I went back to school I gave her props. |
thanx for the info. ive only seen metallica once. i still loved it. it was march 28 2004 in seattle. godsmack was there and it was my first concert. best concert ive ever been to.
|
I wish Jason was still with the band. I'm not ripping on Rob, but it's a huge change going from Jason to Rob :\
Not to mention that Jason was my idol in many different ways. Oh well. Another thing that pisses me off is that nobody around here plays music. There's two bassists, me and one of my friends, and he doesn't even really play much. There's four drummers, one of which doesn't like me, one that only likes stuff like Nirvana who also plays guitar, one that's a few years older than me that goes to high school and then one that likes Metallica who also plays guitar, which me and him are good friends. There's maybe five guitarists. Three of them are mediocre, one of them is the drummer that only plays Nirvana and stuff like that, then one of them is aforementioned friend who likes Metallica. There's so many songs that I want to play, but we have no drummer. It annoys the hell out of me. |
Godsmack were an okay support, I think their laser lights and 2 drum kit thingy were their only highlights.
Metallica are awesome live, you never know what they're going to play, thats the best bit (except for the obvious like Enter Sandman, One, Nothing Else Matters and Master of Puppets) |
