By saying "MoP>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Almost all other metal" obviously he was going for technical skill, which is quite a naive association.
Uh no. i was going for essential albums and overall awesomeness. but whatever oh and Joe i believe that Kirk wrote the riff to Enter sandman which is a pretty awesome sounding riff. |

Is that an oppinion I see, Can I see some ID? |
that was basically it last night....not much happening really. we discussed essential metal albums and it caused havoc....there should be an age restriction on oppinions.
No, we should get one of those signs like at a carnival that says you must be at least 5'10'' to voice an opinion. J/k. No, MOP was an essential metal album even if it was outdone by Slayers RIB or Megadeths KIMB albums. Whether it was outdone or not is still irrelevent. All these album really defined 80's thrash. Sure there are more technically skilled bands. Hell, Steve Vai or Yngwie Malmsteen could run circles around these guys on a guitar, but that doesn't mean that they're horrible musicians. It's all about the message that these guys have. I think that that is what is so appealing about them. |

You can ignore him. He admitted he was crazy.
oh and Joe i believe that Kirk wrote the riff to Enter sandman which is a pretty awesome sounding riff.
Yea Enter Sandman riff kicks ***. Song is a bit overplayed, but oh well. Still rocks. lol |

That song is cool, but like I said a while back, I cannot listen to that song more than once. I become like a disgruntled postal worker after that. |

I have audio of it. It wasn't on nov. 1 and 2, it was November 13th and 15th. I have the audio of the one on november 15th. I can reupload it tonight since I gotta go to class soon, but if you want, just leave your email and I'll get it to you tonight. |

I never liked that song much, even when I first started getting into Metallica. The riff is great, but there is just something that I don't like about it. Then again my favorite song on the Black album is My friend of Misery. |

Definitely a much better song in my opinion. My two favs. were Through the Never and Of Wolf and Man. The god that failed and My friend of misery were very good as well. NP: Arch Enemy - Enemy Within  |
My fav on the Black was Of Wolf and Man followed by Wherever I May Roam and then The Struggle Within or Sad But True. Don't Tread on Me, Holier than Thou, and Through the Never are horrible though I can't stand listening to them.

I like pretty much everything from the first 5 albums. why do you dislike those songs? |
Most of the black album I could listen to once and then I wont for a long time. But thats just me. But theres only a few songs which I dont realy like...dont remember which though.
Havnt listened to it in a long time though.. NP Iced Earth - Delcaration Day |
I love through the never
"THE NEVER COMES!" |
I love through the never
"THE NEVER COMES!"
"All that is, was and will be-ya!" *cool little run* That song rocks |
"All that is, was and will be-ya!" *cool little run* That song rocks
It was my favourite on the album for a while. |
Those songs are repetitive and get on my nerves
Holy ****e!! in my AFJA book it says the bpm for Dyers Eve (All of it except intro) Is 194. That is amazing b/c the song is pretty complex. |
It's not that hard.
|
I love Through the never.......god that failed is a bit annoying and never got into holier than thou.
|
It's not that hard.
Not all of it but there are a few parts in the middle with a rather complex structure and Kirk just shoves them off. It's pretty crazy |

Could it be sped up  ? |
In my guitar class I gotta bring in sheet music for a song I wish to play in the future in front of the class. The fine print is that it has to have at least 6 chords in it. Can someone give me any Metallica songs with 6 chords?
|
Do they have to be different chords (e.g. not all barre chords)?
|
What sort of album is MOP. eg. Thrash or speed.
|

Sh*it man I thought Holier Than Thou was a great song I play it with my band all the time. Whenever I hear it, It just reminds me of them playing during the black album days when they were In there prime. I love don't Tread On Me Newsteds backing vocals are quality on that song. |

Good God Iam not looking for a bloody flame war here so If I give an opinion I wish for that to be respected. Cliff technically better he was easily 50% of the band while he was alive and has wrote some of the most beautiful basslines I've ever heard. Jason is so underated due to the fact he plays with a pick, and has his individual Basswork limit. He brought a much tighter sound to Metallica and if you need to judge him look at his live performances every show he did, He would just give it 110% and was easily half the energy Metallica gave off everytime they played live not to mention the fact he was a good singer. When he came into the band he was essentially a fan right up to the point he left he loved the old stuff and was not keen on Load or Reload at all. Jay was the last part of what Metallica really were and now thats gone it just does'nt feel the same. Jason Newsted is my favorite Metallica bassist he has had a huge influeance on my bass playing and I respect him as a person for putting up with Jaymz and Lars hazing and limited creativity over the years. |

Jason was better simply because of his backing vocals. The "Die! Die! Die!..." during Creeping Death live is classic.
|

YES It takes like 2:30 to get into the song(Pure gold). That whole album is. IMO anything Black and before was there most best stuff (its also my favorite) |

Too bad Blackened is low on the volume though.. I just got to listeing to some Metallica after a few months long break. Got into playing along too but as I mentioned earlier I dont remember much, So im going through some of the songs I learned and just getting back a lil of what I had forgotten. |
From AFJA my fav would have to be The Frayed Ends of Sanity. That's such a cool song IMO. The only songs i skip in that album are Eye of the Beholder, The shortest straw and To Live is to Die. Other wise AJFA is pure gold. No wait... Platinum.

How can you skip The Shortest Straw and To Live Is To Die  |
To Live is to Die is too long for me. It just can't keep me hooked. And the Shortest Straw chorus annoys me. When he drags out "straw" it sounds sooo weird and i just can't listen to it. Kinda like Don't Tread on Me from The black album
|
one of the best songs as gotta b hero of the day
and also ...and justice for all |
i love the solos in the eye of the beholder and the shortest straw.
one of the best songs as gotta b hero of the day
and also ...and justice for all
Hero of the Day is excellent, I love the S&M version, infact I love S&M as a complete concert. The songs just sound so epic, and James, well what can I say about his performance from that concert other then wow, his voice is just amazing. |
