Never heard that album.

You aren't a big Floyd fan are you?
I don't hate them but I can live without them.

Well as long as you don't hate them ;)
Very cool site :thumb:

I wish it had XSAO's layout though :(
Yah, but besides that I kind of prefer this site because it has better quality and it has bluegrass. :thumb:

robo2448 05-05-2005 09:01 AM

The site is awesome, XSAO's never worked for me for some reason.

And for the record, I think Who's Next is the who's peak and has their best songs. However, I feel it's kind of like a greatest hits album and I prefer to listen to Tommy most of the time.

Besides Tommy, Live At Leeds Deluxe Edition is my favorite. Listening to it right now, it is such a raw, powerful live album. Incredible.

Rashomon 05-05-2005 09:07 AM

We don't really consider G'N'R Classic Rock.

TheDMV 05-05-2005 11:45 AM

My thoughts on Tommy:

It's a good album, perhaps better than Who's Next, but because it's a concept album, I fell I have to llisten to it all thew way through. IT's a long concept album as well, so I have to get into it. Because I mostly listen to my music before bed, I rarely feel like I have hte time to listen to it. IT is a good album, just time-consuming. I know that sounds like music is my job, not my passion, But that's really why I don't listen to Tommy that much.

EDIT: THis is my One-week anniversary on MX, I think.

Walrus Gumboot 05-05-2005 12:53 PM
That's happened to me countless times. I always wake up in the morning and realize my headphones are still on, or sometimes laying on the bed next to be. It's usually always DSOTM too, that or A Rush of Blood to the Head. Any mellow album is great, especially if the songs kinda flow together like in DSOTM. (Never slept through the clocks chiming though)
That gets me every time

ABB is my favorite for sleeping. Amazing stuff, that is

what? that wasnt even a question.

i dont like tommy that much :upset:

blue sky is great for falling asleep. (to walrus gumboot)

TheDMV 05-05-2005 01:55 PM

I hate waking up with my headphones on. :upset: It's an uber waste of batteries.

lunch998 05-05-2005 02:01 PM

I leave for one night and everyone decides that Who's Next is the Who's best album.

Sell outs...

TheDMV 05-05-2005 02:23 PM

I wouldn't say that. Everybody still seems to like Tommy.

NP: George Thorogood - Who do You Love?

lunch998 05-05-2005 02:28 PM

I don't really feel that it's necessary to listen to Tommy all the way through to enjoy it. In fact, a good number of the songs on that album can do just fine standing alone. The Overture, Amazing Journey/Sparks, Christmas, Acid Queen, Underture, Pinball Wizard, Sensation, I'm Free, and We're Not Gonna Take it are some that are plot related but are still great even not in context of the album.

TheDMV 05-05-2005 02:32 PM

I'd say my favorite song off of Tommy is Acid Queen. Sparks is, in my opinioin, one of the best instumentals ever. Something about We're Not Gonna Take It never clicked with me.

Broken Arrow 05-05-2005 03:14 PM

I haven't even heard all of Tommy. :(

Badmoon 05-05-2005 03:16 PM
I haven't even heard all of Tommy. :(
Faggot

The first 15 (maybe more) songs on Tommy are perfect.

lunch998 05-05-2005 03:29 PM

The first, second and fourth sides are all amazing. I don't thrink side three is as good.

Illmatic 05-05-2005 03:30 PM

My Generation is their best, I think.

lunch998 05-05-2005 03:34 PM
My Generation is their best, I think.
I like Tommy and the Who Sell Out better than that album, but you can do a lot worse than the Who Sings My Generation. It's definitely a great album.

That's good too. I put on some mellow folk stuff, like some Simon & Garfunkel, or all-acoustic Bob Dylan (stuff like Mr. Tambourine Man) .

Also, my favorite track off Tommy is The School Bully, but I am still working my way through it.

NP - Lou Reed - Temporary Thing.

TheDMV 05-05-2005 05:23 PM

If I want to fall asleep to an album, It's usually Neil Young - After the Goldrush. Neil Young might be my favorite artist, and this is my favorite album of his. He's not classic rock, but I've also been getting into Jack Johnson lately. He's really mellow, and a terrific songwriter; a great bed time listen.

I actually thought it kind of sucked the first time I heard it, though not all the way through. Once I listened to it again, I loved it, and as I said before, it is my favorite album although Who's Next has my favorite songs.

JonG 05-05-2005 05:54 PM

I fall asleep to Deja Vu or American Beauty..something about the songs..

At about Helpless I'm passed the eff out. :P

TheDMV 05-05-2005 05:56 PM

Yeah, I liked my first time around somewhat. I didn't listen to all of Underture though. I'm not sure if I've listened to it all the way through yet. :o

MalcolmYoungRock 05-05-2005 05:59 PM

I actually made an informative post for once!

But, really, check out the site that I was talking about in this post

it's orchestral pink floyd, and it's kick arse.

Jack Johnson is awesome. I only have On and On but plan on getting more eventually. Not classic rock, but very mellow and relaxing like you said. Excellent chillin' music

That sites awesome. The orchestra actually does a great job with those songs. I bookmarked that page.

I'm going to see how SOYCD is

I'm always on the lookout for good music (classic rock or not) and I've been liking more and more of what I hear of this Jack Johnson fellow.

lunch998 05-05-2005 07:55 PM

I can listen to almost anything when falling asleep. It doesn't have to be mellow.

Woodstock 05-05-2005 07:56 PM

I don't listen to music while going to sleep. You people are crazy.

lunch998 05-05-2005 07:59 PM
I don't listen to music while going to sleep. You people are crazy.
Well ideally I lie in bed while listening to music, then turn it off when I'm getting too tired. It's a good time to listen to music.

While doing your homework is the best time.

I agree, when you just sit there in your peaceful room and listen, it makes you think about the music more. Or at least it does for me.

lunch998 05-05-2005 08:03 PM
While doing your homework is the best time.
When I was a freshman and had easy homework I could do that (not saying that your homework is easy, just how it was for me). Now my homework is usually hard and thought consuming.

Listening to music in a dark room by yourself (when you're in bed) really brings out the best in it, I think. Albums like The Wall are made much better. And like Wanton said, you can really focus on just the music and not think about much else.

ledpoisoning27 05-05-2005 08:04 PM

I usually listen to something psychedelic and light some incense when i can't sleep.

cp: Joe Walsh - Rocky Mountain Way

jpj 05-05-2005 08:04 PM

If anyone cares xsao is back http://www.xsao.net/

I usually listen to music while reading a book in bed. American Beauty and Skulls & Roses work well.
