And that's a really cool name! I swear I've heard that name before in some myth, help me out. It's on the tip of my tongue.

Your weird European name is a lot cooler than my weird European name. :upset:
It's ok, I like your name Jello/Waffles. It's more fun to make fun of. Orestes is an actual badass name :p

How do you pronounce your name in English? I've had a vague idea but always wondered if I was doing it right.

Orestes is a character (protagonist) from an ancient greek tragedy by Euripides ;)

Yell-uh.

Orestes: Yeah, I thought it was Greek/Egyptian/that general area. Cool name.
How do you pronounce your name in English? I've had a vague idea but always wondered if I was doing it right.
It's pronounced "Yell" or "Yell-eh", one of those two.

My name...is not so hard to pronounce.

Shadows 09-04-2005 04:47 PM

I had always thought it was Yell-uh, but I've never even been close to Belgium so my knowledge of their language is limited.

My name isn't hard to pronounce either. It's hard to screw up a three letter name :(

Stoic 09-04-2005 04:48 PM

^what's your name?

Is it Yell - uh? Haha, thought it was J(ob)elle(pic) :p

superpeer 09-04-2005 04:49 PM

Yeah, it's something like Yelluh. :)

And, yeah, I think I remember now, that was a pretty tragic character. Weird choice of name, but still, I'd like it and I like it.

*Puts on list for (possible) future son's name under Attila and Thor *

EDIT: His name is Ben. ;)

RCA 09-04-2005 04:50 PM

People always mispronounce my name. :(

Thank you. I was worried you had forgotten since it's been so long. :)

superpeer 09-04-2005 04:53 PM

But you do have a rather difficult name, little Rkaah.

EDIT: to Rkaah, obviously

Ben: It's cool.

Thank you, I like the fact that my name is not quite usual, even here in Greece. Ancient greek names are awesome, the have a strong monumental vibe. Add Orpheus in your list too ;). I think I'll name my kid (in 20 years now) Alexander or Theodore or Orpheus :p

OMG! I know Bartender's name and he's not a Charlie! My entire world collapsed! :upset:

EDIT
Thank you. I was worried you had forgotten since it's been so long.
Thought Bartender was Ben! I'm happy now, back to the Charlie script! :D

Stoic 09-04-2005 05:06 PM

I'm sorry, I was trying to say that: I think the "a" in RCA's are pronounced like the "a" in the word adobe (yeh, I couldnt think of another example!)

My name is Ryan, but on my birth certificate my name is spelled with an extra "n". I got my name legally changed to the spelling with only one "n", but school records, car insurance, etc. still have my name as "Ryann".

Rye-ANN, Ree-ANN, and RYE-ohn are all common mispronunciations of my name. :(

You should go Mutilated and reduce his genitalia to a bloody pulp. Then, introduce his left ear to your favorite kitchen knife while heating up a gas powered stovetop. As he bleeds from the head, tried to stop blood from pouring out of his urethra, and attempts to put out the face fire, take a shovel (rake is preferred) and wreak havoc on his spine. Once paralysis has set in, pour salt on all of his wounds, tie him to a chair with barbed wire, and leave him to die on his front porch.

That would be the death metal thing to do, but whatever you want is cool with me.
RCA = RKAAH
Hahahaha, I get it now. That sounds like something I would do.
Ryann? Typo?

Stoic: RCA = RKAAH
Typo is actually very accurate. When my mom went to name me, she mispelled Ryan. She added an "n"! Funny thing is, my little sister's name is Briana, which is commonly spelled "Brianna". She took the "n" off of her name and gave it to me.

Rkaah, geez. x 353456

I spend (too) much time thinking about these kinds of things. My class at school has unanimously decided that I'll most likely be the one to bring in weapons of mass destruction and go on a killing spree. I agree with them - I might as well educate on the subject I know best. \m/

I would tell, but I swore an oath long ago to uphold the honour of the Knights Who Know The Holy Name. Currently Jelle and I are it's only members.

And :hi5: to the ancient greek names! (Jason and the Argonauts, anyone?)

I'll be the only one in the area who suffocated a freshman class by planting insecticide under a desk. Keep your ears open for my upcoming hacksaw rampage too. I also have plans to make use of a removed lawnmower blade (whther its's ahrepened or not remains to be seen).
