Are they diSEMBOWELMENT-ish?
Haha my first thought as well.

Will be checking them out Rasputin.
anyone here heard of Decomposed? they were a doom influenced death metal band around in the early nineties, I've been recently digging their one album, Hope Finally Died...

really good ****
One of the best doom/death bands. Not really my bag as a whole that genre but as Decomposed are much more deathly than most I still like them.

rasputin 11-24-2008 08:45 AM

yeah, you can go in expecting death metal and not be let down.

Nostalgia 11-25-2008 05:55 AM

does anyone have obituary's full version of their buried alive cover? i have one version but of course it cuts out 45 seconds early and it bothers the hell out of me.
I'm not huge on their discography, I only have their first album not any of the later poopty ones, but their first album (Serenades) is pretty much along the lines of they die/crestfallen, so definitely check that out.
I've not heard Serenades but I recently purchased their second album, The Silent Enigma, which is quite enjoyable for the most part.

rasputin 11-25-2008 08:07 PM

I haven't heard that myself, but from what I gather, Serenades is much more death metal orientated and Enigma shows the band moving away from that.
I haven't heard that myself, but from what I gather, Serenades is much more death metal orientated and Enigma shows the band moving away from that.
From what the reviews I read on M-A suggest, Serenades is more messy/amateur and a lot of them regard Enigma as the band's masterpiece. As I said, I haven't heard Serenades, so I couldn't compare the albums, but Enigma very much fits into the early-Peaceville-three framework as far as I'm concerned.

My flatmate has Crestfallen/Pentecost III on him, I should really give them a listen soon.

The review for Enigma on our reviews site is a lot more critical of it, but again, I haven't heard it so I can't say much.

Oh, like the avatar, watched Escape From New York for the first time about a week ago.

rasputin 11-25-2008 09:08 PM

Yeah, Snake Plisskin rules. Watch Escape from LA as well, if you haven't already.

Tyler 11-25-2008 09:10 PM

Take your time with this one.

RetiredAt21 11-25-2008 09:12 PM

rasputin 11-25-2008 10:53 PM

Serenade and the EPs are where it's at with 'Nathema. The Silent Enigma is good and contains their big hit "A Dying Wish" but the first album has much more atmosphere in my opinion.

RetiredAt21 11-26-2008 06:37 AM

Listening to The Dead Shall Inherit right now. So good.

masscows 11-26-2008 09:22 AM

solid album, not the top of the genre by any means though

RetiredAt21 11-26-2008 11:25 AM

I think it'd be in my top 10.

masscows 11-26-2008 12:02 PM
