Probably.

I have not been unbearable.
I think the Who are a great band. I think the Beatles are a better band. Oh no, I'm horribly opinionated!

MalcolmYoungRock 02-09-2005 08:41 PM

What's going on?

Woodstock 02-09-2005 08:42 PM
Apparently you have no argument for the Beatles live performance.
How could I? You knowingly attacked an arguement that had no logical answer. You know the Beatles became a studio band.

We're fighting about whose better, Beatles or Who

I was actually joking.

Lennon and McCartney are some of the greatest songwriters, but no, they are not the best. They are better than Townshend, however.

Woodstock 02-09-2005 08:44 PM
Well, when you snobby bastards like to bring up, "LENNON AND MCCARTNEY WERE THE BEST SONGWRITERS EVER!!!" I tend to get a little irritated.
Me saying that Lennon/McCartney were the greatest songwriters is just as bad as you saying Dylan or Townshend is better. Both opinions=no arguement.

I was just pointing to an aspect that comes in when comparing bands: live performance.

But you came back with a low blow about Pete's hearing.

The Beatles performed many live shows. I wasn't attacking Pete's hearing, you took it the wrong way. The Beatles became a studio band because they could not hear themselves play during live shows.

xxxRoCkJuNkiExxx 02-09-2005 08:48 PM

I do have to say that Pete had some nice moves in his live performances. But I still prefer the Beatles.

lunch998 02-09-2005 08:49 PM

Oh sorry, I misread that.

Another thing is that The Who could play Beatles style pop songs. The made some great ones. But they decided to evolve into a lot more than that, i.e. from The Who Sell Out to Tommy in just two years.

The Beatles went from I Wanna Hold Your Hand to I Am The Walrus in two years. The Beatles drastically evolved.

Pop to psychadelic-pop. And you also picked the two most extreme examples you could find, which still do not compare to the difference between "Cobwebs and Strange" and "The Overture"

Distant Echoes 02-09-2005 08:53 PM

I think in this case, the beatles have evolved more then any other band, with endless experimentation. Not just on a greatest hits album like 1 do you hear the difference, but on any album, theres always a few songas youll hear unlike any other song by any other band

But the who have some a long way to. I think they just consistently released great album after great album, no matter where the were in evolution

Rock to dramatic-rock.
Rock to dramatic-rock.
British invasion pop/surf music/circus music to Rock Opera.

A more dramatic change over the same period of time=faster evolution.

What you just said agreed with what I said.

lunch998 02-09-2005 09:03 PM

Anyways, I'm out. Peace all.

No. Re-read what you said.

G'night everyone.

Jam2Me 02-09-2005 09:07 PM

Maybe if this argument continues, Woodstock's opinion will change. Then the pigs in my basement will fly out of their cages.

Hmm, I think the Who was better live but The Beatles were more influential and overall better. If you asked Peter Townshend which band was better he would say the Beatles.

That's cause Pete's a gentleman

xxxRoCkJuNkiExxx 02-09-2005 09:10 PM

And he would be right. :p

Just kidding.

I'm out. See y'all later.

What do you guys think about CCR, I personally love them, they got some classic songs.

thickasabrick 02-09-2005 09:51 PM

I'm a huge CCR fan, we've talked about them before. I remember one time we all got on a rant about how great they were, but then someone didn't like them and it brought us all down.

I've only got two of their records (Bayou Country and Willie and the Poor Boys), but I've got one or two of their greatest hits cds (I think it's a double disc) and I love it. Their songs are so fun to play on guitar, and listen to as well.

Johnny B. Good 02-09-2005 09:54 PM

What's your fav song by them?

thickasabrick 02-09-2005 10:00 PM

Hard question. They had so many great songs. Basically anything from Bayou Country is great. But Fortunate Son is like the classic rock song.

edit- I cleaned out my pipe earlier today, so I'm gonna go give it a test run. See ya later!

Johnny B. Good 02-09-2005 10:10 PM

sweet I just reached 1000 posts. :D
It is hard to pick the best CCR song but I like "Who'll Stop the Rain" best
