well spoted!! mabe its a childs cello!

Bass+Fingers+Amp=Groove 08-13-2004 12:13 PM

a double bass that small would be violin, as it would sound the same.... both EADG

mad chimp 08-13-2004 12:16 PM

yeah no point in calling it a double bass! there would be no bass. strings dont seem very thick either!

e p 08-13-2004 12:21 PM
well spoted!! mabe its a childs cello!
A Cello would have a rest on the bottom and a bigger body. That seems really small for a child's.

Hello everyone

Crapdragoon 08-13-2004 04:02 PM

hi, hows it goin?

nisakss 08-13-2004 04:09 PM

I'm doing fine, I guess, taking into account that today is the first anniversary of my little bro's death.

Wintermute 08-13-2004 04:10 PM

^^
Sorry to hear that. How did it happen?

nisakss 08-13-2004 04:17 PM

He had some strange illness, something that happens to one in every ten million...that's what the doctor said at least...it's called primary pulmonar hipertension. He needed a hearth and lung transplant, but everybody thought he had more time before requiring it. Then one day he said he had a mild chest pain and two hours later he was gone. Yeah, it was pretty fast, I guess he would have wanted it that way anyhow. It was unbeareable to see a young kid like him, he was 20, crippled, not being able to walk two blocks without taking a rest. It infureats me, but I guess I shouldn't think so much about that, and try remembering him as he was before.

Sorry the long post, just have to let some steam off.

Wintermute 08-13-2004 04:32 PM

Primary Pulmonary Hypertension... I can see how that would be crippling... if you got excited or out of breath it could be agonizing... I'm sorry to hear that.

This is a 1/16..............I think
This is definately NOT a bass.

The body is of a violin... and professional violin players don't always use chin rests, alot make there own out of soft material because where the violin rests, it rips away at the skin. I know many violinists who have scars on their necks from playing.

the top of a double bass doesn't round out like that. It dips down then flairs out...

Nisakss.. I'm sorry to hear that. *hug*

Casual Stuff VI... Trading Licks..

Hey everyone. :)

Well, I found out today that, yes, my house infact is being sold.. and I am moving in a matter of weeks.

Weeks... ?!?!?!

My mom thankfully got approved for a morgage... which is amazing considering my brother trashed her credit. We don't know where we are moving to yet.. my mom is looking at houses... but.. ****. I don't want to leave my neighborhood... and I sure as hell don't want to pack up my room.

I have more stuff than you can shake a stick at... I don't know how this is going to work!

I just got back from seeing the Machurian Candidate (sp..) It was good and bad... I mean... the story line was a good one.. the movie could have been made way better.. and Denzel's performance.. his character was too similar to his Jonny Q character. Very interesting.

Blah,

LR

Foxfire 08-13-2004 07:02 PM

Oddly enough, I remember when I was between the ages of 1 and 6, we moved 3 times. One time from Chicago to Pennsylvania, then Pennsylvania to Texas, then Texas to Chicago. When we'd moved to Pennsylvania, I recall myself saying "When are we moving again?" It used to really excite me.

Now I'd rather not leave. :p

Crapdragoon 08-13-2004 07:03 PM

Ebert and ropert (sp?) said something like that about the movie. And yeah moving sucks, ive done it quite a few times , just gotta do it :-/

Polyphonic Spree 08-13-2004 07:05 PM

I've moved 4 times, but never out of my city. :amaze:

bassist-bmxer 08-13-2004 07:09 PM

i have moved 8 times in my lifetime i'm only 15  i suppose my parents get bored of houses very quickly :p

JoeDaddio 08-13-2004 07:11 PM

WOO!!! I fianally caught one of these casual threads on the first page! I'm so excited. Now I might be able to have some frame of reference when talking...

I've moved quite a bit. From Riverside, to Malibu to Venice, to Marina Del Rey, to Fullerton, to Corona, back to Fullerton, then once within Fullerton, then back to Corona, and in a few months I'll be moving back to Fullerton.

joe

Mr.Brown 08-13-2004 07:14 PM

I've only moved twice :) . Each house is just 5 blocks away.

LightRaven 08-13-2004 07:15 PM

...can we say culture shock?!

LR

Foxfire 08-13-2004 07:16 PM

JoeDaddio 08-13-2004 07:17 PM

Midwestern? I have no strings in Ohio... I moved when I was seven... that was SO LONG ago... I'm a philly girl... no ifs ands or buts about it. Raised here... Love it here.

Can't say my parents do though....

Happy Birthday BV!

LR

Foxfire 08-13-2004 07:45 PM

Bleh I'm sore from the other day still. :p I'm still lifting, actually, but I figured I'd check the forums between sets. :p

dysfnctinalchild 08-13-2004 07:46 PM

i have moved a few times, and i know that it really sucks when you leave a town that you have lived in for a long time, but it will get better in the new town in a few months or so.

BassVirtuoso 08-13-2004 07:48 PM

Tomorrow will be 15 years of my life in the middle of nowhere, New Jersey. Contrary to popular belief, New Jersey is not totally urbanized and dirty, just check out Burlington.

wardrobe malfunction 08-13-2004 07:49 PM

I've lived in Chicago my whole life. Wouldn't know what it's like to move.

Foxfire 08-13-2004 07:58 PM

What part of Chicago/park do you live in/by?

/me is on my last exercise; then I can take a shower and eat a chocolate sundae...

:D

BassVirtuoso 08-13-2004 07:59 PM

Jeez, the last time I excersized was when I was chasing my brother, who stole my brownie.

LOL. Well see, where I plan to go to High School, there's a Lacrosse team. And I REALLY want to play Lacrosse. For that, however, I'll need to be in pretty good shape, and a friend told me I might as well get a head start. Not to mention I dislike my body. :upset:

Ahh wardrobe; you're sorta far from me. :p I'm more in towards the city. Not like in the "City" that people typically think of; I'm in "Chicago" but I'm not in a suburb, nor in the high urban areas.
