Talking Heads - Remain in Light

Tomahawk 01-30-2005 11:04 PM

I went to the Big Day Out yesterday, and I saw the Polyphonic Spree, and it was the most amazing thing I have ever seen. ****ing hell. If any of you ever have a chance to see them live, do it, it's insane. I'm still in awe.

So yeah, I'm digging them.

Also the Blues Explosion are fantastic live.

thriftstoresweater 01-30-2005 11:21 PM

a girl band!! *woot woot* Stars, i just cant remember the name of their songs
Also the Blues Explosion are fantastic live.
i passed up going to their show for some reason (cause i wanted to go then just didnt) and i finally downloaded one song by them, and that one song alone made me want to hang myself for not going.

Tomahawk 01-30-2005 11:37 PM

I'd barely heard anything of theirs, what I'd heard didn't blow me away... but live they're just amazing. Face melting rock awesomeness.

Tangy, you saw the Explosion at the NZ BDO, right? What was the last song they played? Hopefully the setlist was the same as Melbourne's, because whatever they played last blew me away.

Robert Crumb 01-31-2005 12:34 AM

Last week it was Guided by Voices, this week it's The Velvet Underground because I bought the Peel Slowly and See box set for no better reason than it was $30.

Spiral Architect are appealing to my cheesy side but only because of the bassing.

Bartender 01-31-2005 09:10 AM

Bar listening to an extreme metal compilation Jondur sent me a while ago, I've been having something of a Flaming Lips day today. I'm coming to the end of the Soft Bulletin, for the first time in a long while, now, and I'm thinking of spinning Yoshimi.. afterwards.

Um, um um. I'm not sure right now. Their show is kind of a blur because they didn't stop at all between songs. Once one was finished they just launched into another one, which was cool.

Prolapsed 02-01-2005 12:39 AM

the oldies...

yer shins, coldplay, some nine inch nails (kickin' the Fragile), ...trail of dead, Eagles of Death Metal, type o, queens of the stone age, the cure, the pixies. I'd say a bit varied but still some goodies.

Also ive taken much interest in Clint Mansell the score-composer for Reqiuem for a Dream- amongst other good film noirs, and Hanz Zimmer's OST stuff is borderline excellence too.

Zephadis 02-01-2005 07:15 AM

Alot of The Faint and Death From Above.

Tapeworm 02-01-2005 07:28 AM

I've never had the opportunity of listening to that album with headphones on straight through. But it's definetly nessesary. "Violence Domestica" has so many little parts that are hard to catch without headphones.
It's like watching A Clockwork Orange and being that kid in the institution with the violent problems... :amaze:

The Arcade Fire are on Conan right now. There's a strange beauty to their music that's always appealing to me. Didn't know it would take so many instruments though.
