RtS is one of my favorite albums, but I like SfS too. Jesusland is great, and is Bastard.
But man, you don't get much better than Ascent of Stan or Carrying Cathy
It's so true.

Although, you know, I think a really underrated BF album is The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner. That has some of my favorite BF songs, period.

PietroCrespi 10-21-2006 09:11 PM

That act Bush signed the other day that includes suspending Habeas Corpus only suspends it for aliens.

Yeah, I know we moved on from that subject, but I just thought I would mention that.

I actually don't have that album, I need to get it.
I love how bass-driven the Ben Folds Five was. One Angry Dwarf has a killer bass line.

Yes, I know not that kind of alien. :)

Oh, dude. You have to get it. What's your e-mail? I'll up it for you, right now.

Thanks man.

BenJammin 10-21-2006 09:18 PM

Hey, no problem. Anything for a fellow Romantic-era poetry hater and Ben Folds lover.

Akira 10-21-2006 09:21 PM

Are you going to watch the Myspace webcast Tuesday?

Now that you mention it, yes.

Hopefully it will be a good show.

Amazing song. The piano work is sweet and it's funny.

Akira 10-21-2006 09:30 PM

Hmm, maybe you should eat something? What time of day is it over there?

I was just looking at my Jonas Hellsborg Chord book and thinking about Chris. It's weird not hearing Kubickis mentioned in every "What's a Good Beginner Bass" thread.

Ben has an amazing way of making curse words sound so pretty and polite.

BenJammin 10-21-2006 09:32 PM

That album should be in your inbox now.

BenJammin 10-21-2006 09:35 PM

I saw someone comment sometime that Ben Folds was a bad pianist because apparently he writes every song in C major.

Wtf?

Lawl.

Ben, I laughed so hard at "God made us number one because he loves us the best".

He's not the best pianist ever, but he's probably one of the best singer/pianists. and he can pull a nice solo. That comment is pretty funny though.

Yeah. He's not the best, but he's far from unskilled.

funkyhoney 10-21-2006 09:39 PM

i hate how people say songs are "bad" because they don't use a huge range of diverse keys, modes and chords/progressions.
i hate how people say songs are "bad" because they don't use a huge range of diverse keys, modes and chords/progressions.
I think simplicity can make a better song.
My big complaint with a lot of prog music is that bands concentrate on using half a dozen different really strange time signatures and as many keys while playing rediculously fast and because of that they forget to make the song sound good. Honestly, I can't see someone sitting down just jamming, trying to come up with a good riff to base a song on, and playing something in like 10/8. It seems to me you would have to say "Oay, I want to make a song in 10/8".

BenJammin 10-21-2006 09:44 PM

Yeah. I dunno about you, but when I just 'jam' my natural inclination is to play in 4/4.

funkyhoney 10-21-2006 09:47 PM
Yeah. I dunno about you, but when I just 'jam' my natural inclination is to play in 4/4.
4/4 and 12/8 are the most common signitures that people will play in while imporivsing i believe

12/8? :|

Seems a bit random.

meh, you can do it inadvertantly, after all you can still break it into 4/4

1 2 3 2 2 3 3 2 3 4 2 3

count the beats :smash:
