I think I've had an overdose of Against Me!
When I saw them in person, at a small club and I hugged there drummer.

It was kind of like, "well this is as far as this band is going to get in my heart"
Because, to me. When you listen to an album, you think "I'd love to see them" and then when you do "Man I've to meet them" and then you do. It's kind of like now what?

I still love Crime, but I don't listen to Against Me! anymore, and it's hard to for some reason.

2 years ago they were by far in my top 5 of all time, but now it's just like.
"Yeah, I saw them at a show once, it was cool"

Angry Balled Fists! 11-05-2006 02:40 PM

lol i agree.

Flagjacket 11-05-2006 03:37 PM

I don't agree.

Angry Balled Fists! 11-05-2006 03:38 PM

wait i agreed at the T.S.R thing.

I HOPE MA BODY CAN TAKE IT

AIRIC 11-05-2006 04:21 PM

I would want to see Against Me! but they would probably be wearing Nike and that would piss me off.

Flagjacket 11-05-2006 05:22 PM

Why is that?

AIRIC 11-05-2006 05:27 PM

Becasue Against Me! and Nike are two polar opposites.

AndreTheHyena 11-05-2006 09:53 PM

lolz

I really like both Nikes and Against Me! so I'd be pretty happy at an Against Me! show.

IMONXTC 11-06-2006 10:33 AM

the waynes world joke wasnt funny. they totally avoided answering a sincere question. fans want a reason why AM! decided to sign to sire, not a lame joke. a lot of fans were hoping AM! could be the saviors of punk music, and are taking the sire deal very hard.

Im still gonna buy the new album, b/c maybe this will turn out to be a good thing. i mean, the Clash signing to CBS was considered selling out, but look what we wouldnt have if they hadnt?

i just wish they took it a little more seriously coz i know kids who depended on this band so much.

Iron Bug 11-06-2006 11:58 AM

Hey, shut the fuck up. They don't owe you anything. You've all been little bitchy cunts about Sire since they did it. You havn't been giving them any respect, I don't see why they should anwser your questions.

IMONXTC 11-06-2006 12:05 PM

hey, jackass, i just said i still like them, and i will be buying the new cd, and will be going to lots of future shows, i just wish they didnt dance around what, to a lot of people, is a serious issue. i dont care when bands sign to major labels, its their choice, but it would be nice if they offered some closure. it just hurts worse with against me! than it did with, say, Green Day or Bad Religion, because of AM!'s association with Anarchy and Anti-establishment.

Iron Bug 11-06-2006 12:13 PM

Hey i can tell you right now why they did it.

A) Money
B) Exposure

It is either one of them, or both. Like every other band that has ever signed to a label bigger than the one they were on. If you couldn't tell that by their last album they they we're going for more radio-friendly sounds then you're retarded. Its been 8 years since Vida Vis and they've progressed with their music, as people, and apperantally as buisnessmen. People change, bands change, and they don't have the same ethics as they did when writing RAR as they do now. You can tell that from album to album.

Yeah, but when you've written songs that sing 'MTV **** you' or an entire song that's devoted to an ideal scene, then go back on those statements especially when they seem so sincere and honest, it's easy to see why people are upset.

In RAR it says 'honesty and emotion are not looked down on here', so why doesn't AM! just be honest about why they signed to Sire.

Some of the best AM! lyrics

What song is that?

I agree with your first post.

Which post? My one about AM! answering the fans.

It's from Beggining in an Ending.

The disco EP is so good too. The most emotional 7 or 8 minutes on CD

Against Me! signing to a major label affects my everyday life.

I wouldn't be surprised if it does to certain people. Against Me! meant something. Now they mean nothing. It's a huge let down and a real shame.

Though I think the video was very classy, the fans deserve a straight forward answer for why they did this.

I respect it because I think they're smart enough guys to realize that they would be missing out if they didn't do this. But still, it's a huge let down. They kept it real and this is so not real.

Flagjacket 11-06-2006 05:24 PM

Agaisnt Me! meant something to me because of what their music meant to me, not their business practices. I can still listen to Tonight We'll Give It 35% and other assorted songs that almost make me ****in' cry bevcause they affect me so much, but because they were on an independent label doesn't matter to me.

People should give Tom some room, we can't expect him to cater to our dreams forever. I'm glad Gainst Me! have gone on to a major label. They probably won't reach big time Fall Out Boy sucess (major labels have lots of 'failed' projects), but they deserve the money and newly found ease of life.

AIRIC 11-06-2006 05:26 PM

I agree with that but my deal is that these guys were the real deal. The thing about their music is that it was 100% honest and reflected their life 100%. That is very hard to come by.

Flagjacket 11-06-2006 05:27 PM

Yeah, and who is to say it doesn't anymore? I'll pass that desicion after I hear the new album.

Angry Balled Fists! 11-06-2006 05:38 PM

i agree with both of you guys. i think its more of me hoping about what kevin is saying while i feel what eric feels more.

AndreTheHyena 11-06-2006 05:41 PM

As far as I'm concerned, they've turned into nothing but a bunch of Replacements wanna-be's...

...which is fine.

asdf 11-06-2006 06:26 PM

You guys seem to be more concerned with the politics of your music than the politics of your politicians.

AIRIC 11-06-2006 06:30 PM

I'm not really concerned with politicians yet.

Rise Me Up 11-06-2006 08:41 PM

Me neither, music has a greater place in my life than politics.

viva la revolucion 11-06-2006 08:44 PM

None of you who say that their music meant so much to you even bothered to read the lyrics on the entire searching for a former clarity album and the b sides that i know you all have downloaded (ie exaustion). It pretty much clearly states their intentions, if you hadn't been so caught up in your own politics you would have noticed.

Oh, I guess I've never done any of those things OR even bought one Against Me! album. Is is copy of SFAFC and RAR just stone chiseled replicas then?
