Phototropic 01-08-2007 11:48 AM

kyuss > everyone

Kyle 01-08-2007 11:49 AM

I think QOTSA are a good band with a few great songs, but they don't touch Kyuss in my eyes.

Bartender 01-08-2007 11:50 AM

I quite like Kyuss and I quite like QOTSA, but they both get mentioned far too often in here.
I quite like Kyuss and I quite like QOTSA, but they both get mentioned far too often in here.
Heh, I can't keep up with some of your guys taste. It wasn't until I started reading this thread that I realised I really know nothing about Stoner/Doom.

exactly... lets go back to doom METAL :D

knuckleduster 01-08-2007 01:36 PM

Swallow the Sun's pretty good, though there is definitely better.

Yeaaaaah...no.

Swallow The Sun is where it's at, foo.

knuckleduster 01-08-2007 01:51 PM

I find Shape of Despair more depressing and the singing on ...To Live For My Death is beautiful.

Shattered_Future 01-08-2007 01:54 PM

Swallow The Sun has much better writing, though. At least, I think so. The way they can create an atmosphere is unparalleled.

knuckleduster 01-08-2007 01:57 PM

Then I need to hear some more. Do you recommend any albums in particular?

They're pretty good. The Giant is a great track.

Kyuss is way better though. :D

The Morning Never Came. One of my favorite albums ever...it's unparalleled in recent years in the doom scene.

Hardhat 01-08-2007 05:10 PM

That CD is amazing. It's probably my favorite Doom album ever, it's at least in my Top 3. The cover art is just as good as the CD, too.

The cool thing about Swallow The Sun is that they don't drag their songs at ultra-slow tempos, so it's alot more accesible to people who aren't fans of doom. But they never sacrifice the gloomy and depressive/dark feel that doom is known for.

NP: Swallow The Sun-Through Her Silvery Body

I love the intro in this song.

It's slow enough to be doom, but fast enough to be interesting. The fact that there's about 4 different things going on at any given time makes it all the more awesome.

knuckleduster 01-08-2007 07:48 PM

Thanks.

thirteen 01-08-2007 07:58 PM

the swords pretty rad

pate 01-08-2007 08:05 PM

Eww

Hardhat 01-08-2007 08:51 PM

I saw them open for In Flames and they bored me. Besides their music being largely uninteresting, there stage presence and crown interaction was non-exhistent.

learn to spell fatty

Thasis 01-08-2007 10:00 PM

Swallow the Sun is awsome. Their music still has a good pace to it, but keeping it the same doomy feeling. Well done.

knuckleduster 01-09-2007 01:46 PM

I've found a few tracks off of The Morning Never Came. Deadly Nightshade and Through Her Silvery Body. Thank you for enriching my life, Shattered Future.

Shattered_Future 01-09-2007 02:53 PM

Tis my job to.

If you get a chance, Hold This Woe and the title track off of that album are some of my all time favorite songs ever. The former with beautiful, melancholy verses and crushing choruses, and the latter with...well...the same thing. :p

Still, both are excellent songs.

There's a song by The Sword in Guitar Hero II. I was playing it, and thought it was cool at first. Feelings diminished throughout...it was rather boring.

AlienEater 01-09-2007 03:43 PM

sword are boring

Thasis 01-09-2007 04:02 PM

Anyone digging Sahg?
