The best thing about Awake was that they had Kevin Moore still....And all the above mention songs. Kevin was much more suited for the band than Jordan IMO.
If you're offering, that would be cool, as I can't see me going out and buying it without hearing it first. I'm a bit too sceptical about it to do that.
 Yeah, I noticed that as well. Thanks for making it easy for us to tell you which album (s) to try and get, IWJPBWB. :p Ah, this sounds promising. It would be really intimidating to be the bassist for JP's solo stuff...not only having to work with him, but also living up to Myung and his standard would be very difficult.
ok I shall upload it :thumb: |

I don't really see what the debate is about, Awake is a really good, if not slightly diverse album. |
I got Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence yesterday and after listening to it a few times, I must say
   Dream Theater is amazing.
That album owns, 'Blind Faith' is a great song. I'm not too big on the second disc, but all my friends seem to love it. |

6:00 is amazing, at the moment my favourite song off that album is probbably Scarred or Space Dye Vest. |

Take out the annoying voice samples, and you've got me a tune. |
Quick question for all...I've heard bad things about Falling Into Infinity. Is it worth downloading, or even listening to? From what I've heard, I don't want to buy it...i would be interested in hearing it though.

In my opinion, Falling Into Infinity is definantly worth downloading, and even buying. Falling Into Infinity shows the bands more "emotional" side, and has some great songs (Hell's Kitchen, Lines In The Sand, Trial Of Tears). Personally, it's one of my favorites. |
I never used to think much of Awake. I like all the albums but I didn't understand people listing that as their favourite. But now I do like it a lot, especially James' voice. It also shows how diverse they are, I had the Mirror in my playlist not long ago, just before it changed to something off SFAM. My favourite off it is Voices, but there isn't one song on this album I don't like. It's just a different style, and probably the one most unlike their others (except maybe ToT) which is maybe why some people don't like it much at first.
That's exactly the same as me.
Myung plays in The Jelly Jam. it's a sort of proggish rock band with Morgenstein on drums. I don't really rate his project high, way too poppy for my standards. but it's good technical wise nonetheless. they have two albums out. I suggest you check out Jordan Rudess solo stuff, esp. 4nyc which rocks really hard IMO. it's a live recording of a tribute thing for sept 11th, mixed with some studio stuff, since the live recordings weren't enough for a full length :)
I'll have a look into both Ruduess' and Myung's, although, I really don't like Rudess that much :p
Take out the annoying voice samples, and you've got me a tune.
Yeah I kind agree, although, the samples don't annoy as much now as they did when I first heard them.. |

There's one of my attempts at the first third or so of the Glass Prison arpeggios. A couple spots my mind just went totally blank though  |
you are good at guitar man.
That was very good :thumb: |

Half of the album is quality Dream Theater that you would expect from them, but the rest of the tracks are basically fillers. Very pop-y fillers in my opinion (for DTs standard). Songs like Hells Kitchen, Lines in the Sand and Peruvian skies are great. LITS is one of my favourite DT songs (along with Scarred) and also has another classic solo for JP. |

My friend has met him and my friend asked 'are there any solos that you dont look forward to playing because they are so hard?' and his response was "the sweeped solo in Glass Prison". |
that solo is indeed so awesome, and I'd reckon it to be very hard to play (doesnt play guitar)
the jazzy guitar solo in blind faith is so cool too, as well as the piano solo. |

Woah, that's cool. Apparently at one of their performances at Gigantour, he screwed up the intro arps and they didn't play the song again that tour. (I think..) |
It's an album which I'd recommend listening to if you like Dream Theater, but mainly due to the fact that I think being a completionist is a good thing. It's probably my least favourite DT album though, so I can't honestly say that it would be a good buy. I think that it was probably a good thing Kevin Moore left after it...it just seems to me that they'd started losing their sound a bit, and Ruddess gave them some more momentum to go and make Scenes From A Memory.
Moore wasn't on FII, it was Derek Sherinian |
indeed, and he's an awesome keyboardist, only not quite fitted for the DT style.
he played on ACoS too. his solowork is quite amazing, as is Planet X ( if I'm not messing up the names) |
So, what does everyone think about John petrucci's solo album?
|
I love it quite a bit, the song tells a nice story in it own way, without vocals.
it reminds me a bit of LTE. the album shows sides that Petrucci can fit in to newer DT cd's. I also find the bass (which is quite high in the mix) to be exellent |
[qutoe]the jazzy guitar solo in blind faith is so cool too, as well as the piano solo.
Blind Faith has my favorite JP solos.
So, what does everyone think about John petrucci's solo album?
I actually just got a copy of it, but I've yet to listen to it. |
I really like Petrucci's solo stuff. I'm digging that album a lot right now.

I enjoy the heavier songs more. \m/ Jaws of Life \m/ |
uh, just a short question, I downloaded the album, and I have a track called 'Interlude'but this doesn't appear on the tracklisting, anyone know what this is about?
it's track 7 and lasts 0:59 |
It's a CD problem - the track Curve is split between 6 and 7. It's like that on the CD too, if I remember correctly.
